Charged $690 to hydro jet it, which if you think about it is really dumb to do. Next day after the drain was cleared Chris shows up for an inspection and tells us drains are badly damaged and it will cost $50k to repair, but he didn't tell us the cost in person. He emailed it to us as he was leaving the door. Within the email were four pictures of the same thing. You would think with all that damage he'd be able to send multiple images of DIFFERENT areas. That's very unprofessional, but what do I know, I'm not a plumber right? Three days later my main was backed up again. I called a different company where two men, no they were superheros which entered my home, they snaked my drain like real men and they worked hard. They then went on to show me the live video of my drain lines, nothing was damaged. I called Benjamin Franklin back for a refund like website said but they told me you only get it back if we send someone out to verify the last guy was wrong. Of course they will say we have damage, I have to "trust" them now?These guys are shady. You guys keep it. The way I see it, my review cost you more than the $690 you robbed me of and the outright lie that I needed $50,000 in repairs. BEWARE: These guys are crooks. The appeal that attracted me to them is that they are usually pretty available - especially weekends. These guys quoted me $5,000+ for a leak....coming up with involved overhauls that they "recommended." And, their story/persuasion was pretty compelling - that, they are good at However, the magnitude of the estimate and the work did not smell right. So, I got a second opinion. The second plumber, from a trusted family friend recommendation, had been in business for 20 years and quoted $1,000 and told me everything Benj Franklin was recommending was not needed at all. The phone rep said 69.00 to come out unless they do work........okay, fair enough. Guy starts trying to light the pilot to the gas water heater (pressing a button over and over) and says.... If I get this lit it's a 100.00$. It doesn't light so he quotes me 1400.00 for the same water heater and install. Looked it up and it was about a 500.00 heater. Nice!! I declined the offer and went and got it at Lowe's the next day. One guy was nice, but the other was kinda douchy. I wish I could put ZERO!! Without a doubt, one of the worst WORST companies that I have ever dealt with and that's saying a lot since I've been a professional Realtor for 23 years. The biggest shysters in the world! Had a water heater problem, venting into the attic that they installed! I called them initially, sent them the inspection result pictures so they would know beforehand what was needed, told me that it was covered and there would be no charge since they did the initial installation. When the technician went to the vacant home and took care of business, called me to let me know there would be a charge of $270.00! He was there ten minutes and just had to put the pipe connection together in the attic since the H20 heater was venting C02 into the attic. He said he used about 4 sheet metal screws to do it. Well as you can imagine I refused to pay it and the "manager" Josh told me that I either had to pay it or they would lien the home. I told him to stuff it! Shysters!! Worst company in the world! Folks, please don't be fooled by this company. NO customer service, ZERO followup on their shoddy work and not a clue on how to treat a customer. By the way, the initial charge to my homeowners to install their gas H20 heater: $1420 for a 50 gallon. Rip off, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. I used this Benjamin Franklin Plumbing - Arlington 2215 West Harris Road Arlington, TX 76001 License #: M-17631 Do not use neither one. They are making a bad name of the great BF. They double charged me and had the nerve to call me two months after asking about payment that was already sent and processed through finance. They charged to dig one day after analyzing the problem incorrectly and did changed the cost on me. And had me pay for the dig even though they had more digging to do. None of their employees have over 7 to 10 years in the field and I have more paperwork for signing a repair contract then you would with a home mortgage. Will I pay yes to keep my name out of their mouth but will never use again. Beware, they say one thing and then change their words and will rip you off. read more

If it were possible to not leave any stars that's what I would do. We were having plumbing issues with our toilets and sewer water had come up out of our bath tubs. We called Ben Franklin because of convience and I figured it was a reputable company, boy was I wrong. Plumber comes out and he does clear the line for us, told us it was most likely facial wipes my wife had been flushing down the toilet. Simple enough. $289 he was there for about 45 mins. Okay I didnt ask too many questions since there was shit in my bathtubs I would have paid twice that to fix it. My concern is what happened next, he checked our pipes with a camera just to make sure there were no cracked pipes that needed to be fixed, he said there were not but never showed us the video, again not a huge concern at that point. The plumber then told us that he hopes nothing ever goes wrong with our pipes since they are 15 to 18 feet down where the typical house is about 4 to 5 feet.. told us they charge $2500 for every 4 feet if something is wrong. At this point we send him on his merry way. And 6 days later our toilets start acting funny again, they give you a 30 day warranty so we called them back out, again the plumber try's to clear the line and tells us whatever is in there broke his machine and he is unable to clear it. He tells us to call the city to clear the tank. Okay so now we are freaking out, we call the city and they considered it an emergency and were at our house within 2 hours. They were able to clear the tank and tells us they will send someone out to survey the pipes to see the issue and if its on our side or the city's side. Two days later the come out to survey and stick there cameras down there, he tells us there were rocks in our drain that most likely had been put there by a little neighbor kid just messing around. Hmmm all of a sudden our neighborhood kids are putting rocks down our drain right after the plumber has come out, seems like a huge scam to me. The city actually cleared the line for us and he showed us the video of our pipes to assure us no cracks and it was clear. He did specifically tell us that was not something he was supposed to do but he was able to. He also told us our pipes were only a little over 6 feet down. I urge you not to use this company, i have no other explanation as to how those rocks ended up in my drain other than that plumber, if the man working for the city would not have been so helpful and kind we could have been out thousands and thousands of dollars for something the plumber did. We are considering reporting this to the better buisness bureau. read more

We've used these guys before, no issues. However, we declined a service agreement with Minute-Man Heating & Air. Minute-Man banned us because we contested a service fee. And because Minute-Man and Benjamin Franklin are owned by the same people, Ben Franklin banned us as well. Yeah they tell you ahead of time the charge. I was desperate to get my drain unclogged. My AC and Washer would not drain in the heat of summer. All they did was snake the drain. Chris told me his snake was not long enough! LoL! he had to dispatch another plumber with a longer snake. (I'm sure it was to bleed more time! Im supprised It worked!! They send you a $25 coupon for a future service call if you've used their service. I called for a service call and was told the $69 service call is waived if I let them do the work. When they did the work I showed the coupon and was told I can't use it because they didn't charge a service call. That's a fraud. On 6/12/18 - I made a call to Benjamin Franklin Plumbing license # M-17631 - phone 817-784-1249. I noticed water on my driveway. I called the city of Arlington and was advised to call a plumber. The plumber arrived and diagnosed my problem as the banned quest line- going from the water meter to my home. The cost to replace is very expensive- I agree to replace the water line- Per the plumber this was the problem. The plumber did not check my sprinkler system- he was certain the issue was the water line. After the work was done to replace the water line- the problem with water coming up on my driveway still existed. After complaining that my problem had not been resolved, a supervisor by the name of David contacted me and came out. He saw there was still water coming up from my driveway. David- said he would have his sprinkler guy come out and would take care of the problem. David advised me to not use the sprinklers so the ground would be dry. When the sprinkler guy arrived, he asked to check my sprinkler system- that's when it was discovered that 1 of the sprinkler stations was not working. This is where the plumbing company had dug up the yard to replace the water line. The sprinkler guy did find the problem causing the water on the driveway and repaired that problem. But he would not look at the other issue with the broken sprinkler. My sprinkler system Had been working properly on All stations before Benjamin Franklin Plumbing dug up my yard to replace the water line. This has been the worst experience dealing with Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. I called them for 1 issue and they have created another issue. be prepared...no matter what the problem they are programmed to tell you they need to do all new pipes, and then the price is triple the cost of any other plumbing company. they will tell you that they can not repair your pipe, that it must all be replaced. they also upcharge you 10% if you need to finance. of course the next day they will call back and offer to do the repair at $500.00 per hour, but will not guarantee the work. this company is a big scam, and pray on people that are not knowledgeable of plumbing! stay away! $500.00 an hour is double the cost of any other plumber in the area! read more

Sorry I let them into my home! I was at work so arranged for a family member to let them into my home to replace the faucet in the master bath tub. The service man lied to my family member telling them the job had been completed. He put the broken faucet back on and made it appear that it had been replaced. Then when my family member left the room, the service man took the faucet handle off and left it laying on the tub. He did not replace the broken handle just left it broken and unassembled. When I called the company to report this, the office manager was very rude! I will not let them back in my home! read more

This company promotes itself as the prompt plumbers. They advertise they're on time or they pay you. They don't tell you this only applies to the initial visit to quote the job. It doesn't apply to when they're actually doing the work. I was told the would be at my house first thing in the morning between 8:30 and 9. At 9:45 I called and was told they were in route. I called again at 10:45. Asked about the promptness and that's when I was told that only applies to initial visit. They told me they couldn't get in touch with manager but they should be there in a few minutes. They showed up at 11:35. The two guys that did the work were nice and professional. I was told they would make two holes in Sheetrock and it should cost$200 to repair. There were four holes made and the initial quote from their recommended repairman was over $1000. The plumbers had to do more work than originally quoted which cost me $850 more than the original $3060. The manager that did the original quote also said the plecs pipe over water heater is required to be flexible metal pipe. The plumbers didn't do this. When we asked about this the manager denied saying that. My opinion: the company is misleading customers on their advertisements as prompt or they pay. They have no problem telling customers lies throughout the process. read more

Had a slow running drain recently. Our local plumbers did not work on Easter weekend, and we can respect that, but with a family dinner scheduled we called Benjamin Franklin. Their arrival window was 3 hours (between 2 and 5 PM). We noticed that the gentleman who arrived did not look like he would be physically able to do any sort of strenuous plumbing work, due to his very large size. We were correct. When assessing the situation he looked under the sink (bending at the waist, not getting down there) and proceeded to give us numerous reasons why he probably could not do the job for a reasonable fee: no "clean out" access, old pipes, etc. He sat down with his clipboard and iPad and proceeded his sales pitch. By quoting outlandish prices, we were steered into purchasing a gallon of BioBen which he said might or might night clear the drain after 5 days treatment. After agreeing to purchase the smallest amount that we could, 1 gallon, he then went into his sales pitch about a service plan. We rejected that and still had to wait another 10 minutes for him to slowly finish his paperwork. Time spent: approx. 30 minutes. Cost: $159.00. Results: sink still clogged. Wednesday called a local plumber. They responded in about 2 hours. They asked a few questions when arriving and went straight to work. Time spent: approx. 35 minutes. Cost: $99.67. Result: Problem solved! If you want a salesman to call, then by all means call Benjamin Franklin. If you want a plumber, call anyone else! read more

This business is equal parts incompetent and unethical. We purchased a tankless hot water heater from them some time ago. Less than a year after we bought, while the warranty still applied, the water heater started shutting off inexplicably. We wanted it replaced, arguing that we had been given a defective unit, however we were told by Benjamin Franklin's plumbers that it was simply dusty. They dusted it, charged us an exorbitant rate for the service, and told us not to worry. The problem recurred, but each time we dusted it, even when it didn't particularly need dusting, trusting that employees of a reputable business would not lie simply to avoid replacing a defective unit. Now, after the warranty expired, the water heater has ceased working entirely, leaving us without hot water. Benjamin Franklin refused to honor the warranty, since although the unit itself was obviously defective from day one, they claimed that the water heater's failure to operate before and after the warranty expired were unrelated problems. I cannot stress strongly enough how dishonest and incompetent these people are. Do not under any circumstances frequent their business - you will indubitably overpay for bad service. read more

Professional and on time but... I was quoted $320 per drain to replace the stopper mechanism on two bathroom sinks. That seemed very pricey! I had one drain unclogged for 149 dollars plus $79 trip fee for a total of $178 after they honored a $50 service coupon. I felt ripped off. I know I approved the work but I was already in for the trip cost. It also seemed strange that it would be more cost effective to have a new toilet installed rather than fix the existing one with a minor leak at the base that likely needs a new seal. read more

Benjamin Franklin Plumbing advertises free estimates. They were called to my home to look at our water heater. When the technician arrived he said there was nothing wrong with our water heater. No estimate was provided because no work was needed, but they still charged $109 for coming out. Tried to resolve the issue with management and all they did was argue, and insult me. Very bad business, and very bad management. They were more interested in keeping their money than a potential future client. read more

I noticed a leak in the front yard Saturday morning of Labor Day weekend. I called and spoke to a woman who was very friendly and had great customer service. She arranged for someone come out the next morning at 8am. Tommy arrived on time and knew exactly what it was after just looking at it for a few minutes. But, he was going to have to dig. Ok, makes sense. The quote to get it all done. $1350. To dig and fix a leak. I'm still new at this home owner stuff and haven't really had problems, but I'm glad I followed my gut. I told him I would have to think about it and get back to him. I almost told him to go ahead and do the work. I'm so glad I didn't. Asking family members, they said I was getting ripped off and got names of other plumbers. The first one I called came out the same day and did the job for $350. So thank you Tommy for quoting me an insane price and also not putting back the cover to my meter box (its the little things that make a decision). I called them out to fix one of our toilets that was not filling up. Cost approx. $200 which was fair but.... then the nightmare. Toilet still did not fill up so I called them and they came out for the second time, good news, no charge, bad news, when I got home it still wasn't filling up. So I called and they came out and told my wife it needed a new flapper for it to fill up. $236.00 Why didn't they know this the first time? So she agreed, mistake I agree, but she wanted it fixed. Yup, I come home and it still doesn't fill up. I called after hours and was a little upset but was greeted by a very nice person who said a supervisor would come out the next morning. Well he did, and all he did was adjust a hose to make the water run more freely making the toilet fill up. So why was I charged an additional $236.00 for the second visit if it wasn't the flapper? He said it was the hose that needed adjustment. Ok, in my mailbox was an advertisement from them saying if I use their services again I could get $50.00 off and if I wasn't happy call for David Crow. I called exactly 2 weeks ago telling them I wanted my money back. The lady I spoke to was very nice and said David Crow would call me back the next day. And still to this day no one has called. They can say what they want, they can be defensive, but they screwed up and won't admit it. read more
