About ten years ago, I walked into this paint store and walked out feeling invisible, out of place, and like I should've been wearing a contractor badge just to get noticed. Fast-forward to now: our painter swears by Benjamin Moore, so back I went, bracing for déjà vu. Instead, I was greeted immediately by Bridget, who turned what I expected to be a color-chip scavenger hunt into an unexpectedly pleasant experience. She knew the shades I mentioned off the top of her head and led me straight to them. No wandering the aisles squinting at the teeny tiny names of 400 slightly different blues. She even suggested complimentary colors I never would've picked on my own. (Thank you, Bridget!) The paint store visit I was dreading turned into a breeze. Not sure if management changed or if they just got smarter about hiring, but Bridget is a serious asset. If I were the owner, I'd guard Bridget like the last gallon of paint during a supply shortage. Will definitely return to this store for paint and more of her spot-on design advice. read more

I'll be honest, I've never left a review for a paint store but my experience here warrants a review. I made the mistake of going to a different BM-CP location the week prior and I'll never do that again. You ever meet someone who's just so good at what they do that you'd trust them with your life? Manny's your guy. He helped me find a resolution for my bathroom project and everything else I needed to complete it. We had the best experience at Catalina Paint Store on PCH in Manhattan Beach today. Paint can be daunting. But with the help of Michael, masked up and safe, we learned exactly what we needed. He took his time and educated us and answered all of our questions. Then we made some decisions on colors with some advice and he led us to all the stuff we needed and nothing we didn't need. I have been to SP a handful of times and today I finally hit my breaking point. I decided I had to write a review and vowed to never go back. Keep reading for details! For the last year, we've been renovating our house. The interior was easy enough, even 8 months pregnant, and I didn't really interface with anyone that time around, minus asking where the swatches were. It is pretty easy to point and grunt though, so don't get it twisted. Not stellar customer service. Now that we are choosing paint colors for the exterior, I came in this afternoon to pick up some samples. I spent some time at the Redondo location asking questions and picking up swatches, and came in with a plan to get my samples and go. I walked up to the counter and smiled and said hello - Anthony looked my way and asked me what he could do for me. I told him I needed to get some samples AND I KID YOU NOT HE THREW A PEN AT ME ACROSS THE COUNTER AND WHILE WALKING AWAY SAID "mark the ones you want." HOMIE I ALREADY DID THAT. So I then tossed the pen back toward his back (because remember, he was walking away) and stated "I've already done that." At this point, he was too busy talking about a cheeseburger with another woman on the opposite end of the counter to truly hear and I was just grateful some other chap happened to be behind the counter to assist me in my four paint samples. Anthony - you are A MANAGER of an establishment GEARED TOWARD CUSTOMER SERVICE. I am sorely disappointed in the way you manage your business and if it weren't for the man that actually helped me I would have been out of there in a New York minute. I am a new home owner and absolutely love this store. I like that the store carries Benjamin Moore and Pratt & Lambert which are both quality paints (my personal choice is PL which is quite hard to find..I think their paints are easier to apply at good price points). The store also does a really good job in color matching (yes posh paints too), which I couldn't get it right from Home Depot. Another plus is that they have a great selection in wallpapers. They are gorgeous! The owner and all staffs are super friendly (sometimes very funny too!) and helpful so no worries coming here if you know nothing about paints. This is a great local store and I feel lucky that I live close by. Their prices are very reasonable and I got great paints in the colors I really want. To me I think I got my money worth here more than buying paints from big box stores! If you live in the area, try this store -- painting projects can be so much fun! read more

Had a custom mixed paint done by Supreme Paint. They Told me that it would be easy to order more. paint if I needed it for my painting project if they did a costom match. I returned a couple of days later to purchase another 5 gallon bucket of the exact sample paint that they had just made up fo me a couple of days earlier. Had the exact fotmula that they had made for me. Much to my surprise they explained to me that the formula would not get me the correct color that I needed. They wanted me to go get another sample of the paint that they made so they could match it to the correct color. I explained that I had them make this exact color for me so that I could come back for more paint. The guy who made the paint for me was toooo busy to help me and told the man helping me to go get a sample to match. Very poor customer service and a bad spot to buy paint!!! read more

I have been going a bit nuts trying to pick out the "perfect" white for the interior and exterior of my house. 5 visits to paint centers and numerous samples (at nearly $10 each) and I was still confused. I was unable to get any type of consultation from people who know about paint. I do not....... And then I met Richard Gomeztrejo at Supreme Paint (their resident designer). What can I say, problem solved! Stress relieved! Richard sat down with me and listened to me, looked at my ideas and more importantly, looked me in the eye, heard what I was saying and made, what turned out to be a supreme (no pun intended) recommendation. Decided to shop locally and yes the paint was expensive. But the service is outstanding! I bought some paint from the store, but it kept clumping on the brush. Al gave me some tips in the store, but it still kept clumping. So Al came out to the house to figure out what was going wrong! He figured it out in two seconds. (Had to sand off a glaze that is on the wood.) And he wouldn't take any token of my appreciation. In an era where customer service is going down the tubes, this was a pleasant surprise! Richard kept us informed at all stages, was reasonable in his cost estimates, timely in his responses and the install went very smoothly. One word... Painful! This shouldn't be considered a store with customer service. My husband is a general contractor so Fortunately he makes most of these type of purchases. Today, however, I had to take a can of paint back to this store that was not the same shade as the other can of paint we had, even though we purchased it at the same store. Both cans matched numbers for color coding as well as the name and brand. Riggo wouldn't give me the time of day as I struggled to tell the younger guy behind the counter my dilemma. Riggo heard what was going on but wouldn't intervene with me directly. Instead he chose to speak Spanish to the young guy and basically was just trying to get out helping me. He was busy. Only after I asked him directly if he could take a minute and deal with this situation did he bother with me at all. I told him I could see he was busy but since no one had any knowledge of paint besides him he was going to have to help. He took a phone call for a big order before he reluctantly helped me. He tried to insist my painter bought the cheap Benjamin Moore base and that's why the color was off?! Then tried to say the color of my wall faded and that's why it didn't match!!! Huh? The other can matched my walls just fine. No Riggo, your store screwed up. Eventually he matched the paint color to the other can I had but not until I was ready to jump over the counter and try to match my color myself!!! I really shouldn't have had to get that angry and beg to get what I should of received the first time!! I spoke to My painter afterwards and he said they are snobby to NEW customers here! Well they can save the attitude. I'm sure they will continue to get plenty of business here because there isn't a lot of competition but as for me, I'd rather make 5 trips to Home Depot ( which trust me, I hate doing) than ever go back here one time!!I've spent thousands of dollars at this Location on paint for a 3,000 square foot home we built 10 years ago but they don't care about the past. Everything is fine when your spending money but If you have a problem good luck!! You better be ready to take on attitude! Luckily I found out Home Depot also makes Benjamin Moore colors!!! I went into this store and asked for help. The person I dealt with was gruff, curt and not particularly nice. What's more, apparently BM doesn't sell 2 oz. paint samples anymore, so you're forced to buy 9-10 dollar pints to figure out what colors you want. I have no problems with Benjamin Moore products- they're excellent. But so are many other brands. If I'm going to spend almost DOUBLE on my paint, I expect it to be twice as good, and if it isn't, then at least the customer experience should be better. But I got friendlier and more responsive treatment from the guy at the paint counter at HOME DEPOT. Seriously, if BM is getting beaten out by Home Depot's customer service, that's saying something. So, after getting fleeced for $30 for a few samples and getting treated like s#$t by the staff, I'm left with the impression that BM Paints are for snooty rich people who care more about the name than the quality, and they just have the money to hire someone to go pick up the paint, so what do they care about the 'customer experience'? Screw that. I'll just buy some Behr and be done with it. read more

I had a black bench where the paint had been ruined by something that had be laid on top of it. I first went in acting like I knew what I was doing and got some spray paint but that didn't work. I then went back with the bench top in hand and really asked them their advice. They ended up doing half the sanding work for me and really spent the time to find the right method. I think they probably deal with a lot of annoying people all day, so if you can get their attention, explain clearly what you need help with (bringing in examples or pictures is a plus!) and really let them know that you value their advice... you will get some excellent service. read more

Supreme Paint has been my go-to since buying my first home in 1990. It's expensive but the paint is high quality and the guys working there are the best.
