I've walked past Benjamins for many years and it has always smelled amazing. I finally went in on a Saturday morning around 9am and picked up a few different items for my family. With Saturday being a move-out/check-in day I anticipated a wait. Happily I was out in 15 minutes from my arrival to my order being filled. My to go order consisted of sesame bagels, cinnamon rolls, whoopie pies, red velvet donut holes, and croissants. Everyone was very happy with the portion size, taste, freshness, and overall quality of our food. Service was very friendly and efficient. I was disappointed by this place... They have a beautiful variety of baked goods in their case, and even more to choose from displayed/packaged along the wall. I was very hopeful... The "dossant" (croissant/doughnut mash-up) was a let down, just not as fabulous as I expected it to be. I'm pretty sure my decaf mocha was not decaf. :( I love coffee, but when I order a decaf I really need it to be... The mini blueberry pie I got to-go was quite good when I heated it up at home. To me, this was the redeeming factor for this spot. I would have only given them one or two stars if it hadn't been good. But, worst of all, literally everyone I saw in the kitchen was eating- at their workstations. This is a BIG no-no for sanitation reasons. We spent Fourth of July weekend in Myrtle Beach and I reserved one morning for finding the best pastries in town. Fortunately Benjamin's was open and I am so glad to have found it. The bagel was sooooo fresh it blew me away. I told the owner it was one of the best I had and he took me on a short tour of the operation to show me exactly how much he took the term fresh serious. It's been tough finding really good espresso here in Myrtle Beach and Benjamin's has just about the best so far! They've been around since 1994 starting as a Bagel shop and evolved into a full blown bakery and cafe. So across from the restaurant was a farmers market and at the end of the block was a lady selling an assortment of mini cakes! I decided to try the pound cake at a whopping $3! Overall a good tasting cake a bit dry for my taste but not overly. If in the area again I'd give them another try as they had a few more kinds of mini cakes and other desserts to try! read more

Lee & Wendy have been baking up their version of fresh breads, bagels, and more to the area's hungry patrons tired of the gargantuan all-you-can-consume pancake houses along the strand. I ordered the Rise and Shine bagel with coffee for $5.95 plus some donut holes to go. The staff was welcoming and professional making sure I took a menu for a return visit. I like that (and I will). The bagel was lightly toasted, fresh, and tasty with the "everything" toppings each sounding off in my mouth. My only dings come with the bagels are not boiled (i.e. NYC style), and the egg was from a mix, not cracked and fried. Coffee was OK. Verdict: arrive early, order up a meal, and enjoy. A pleasant place tucked just off 17 business. Give 'em a whirl (and carry a bag of donut holes back home). read more

I'd say this was a hidden gem, but it's definitely no secret! We went here two days in a row on vacation and the line was so long, it was wrapped around the shop and all the way out the door! I can see why! The place had so much to offer, including coffee, smoothies, sandwiches, baked goods, etc. Despite the long line, it moved pretty quickly! That staff is a well-oiled machine! We tried to much stuff in our two trips. I had a cold brew, which was tasty, but not WOW. We also tried some vanilla cupcakes, which were so moist and tasty! The Asiago bagel: YUMMMM! Benjamin's Bakery is an absolute stop if you are in the Garden City/ Surfside Beach area. Even if you are staying in Myrtle Beach and want to make a trip, you won't be disappointed! We loved it so much and went twice and our family even brought back bagels the other 2 days. We always got breakfast and I had the egg, cheese, and sausage sandwich on an everything bagel and a Asiago bagel the second trip. The bagels are AMAZING. Made fresh everyday. Family owned and in business for over 25 years. The coffees were made good as well. You can also come here for lunch and buy bagels, pastries, and bread. They do have indoor and outdoor seating. I've been getting takeout here during vacation. It's an excellent breakfast place. The coffee is great, with a choice of light, medium, or dark roasts. Pastries are excellent, with an attention to detail like flaky outsides and soft, chewy insides. My one gripe is the bagels: They aren't bagels. To be fair, the places that serve real bagels in the south are few and far between. A bagel is boiled and baked: if it's just baked, it's bagel-shaped bread. BUT I will say that these are by far the best non-bagel bagels I've ever had! The real test is that they are good un-toasted, which is how actual bagels must be eaten. Service is excellent. They stay efficient and friendly when the line goes around the corner. read more

Great, great homemade food. Reasonable prices. Friendly and helpful staff. Homey atmosphere with inside and outside seating. Not sure what else one could want? I came in for breakfast and though it was crowded, it was worth the wait. You simply walk in and wait in line to order, just like you would at Subway. Once you pay, look around for a place to sit like a table or one of their comfy leather couches. Your order will be called out by name and if it's a simply drink order, they'll likely just walk it over to you. I got lucky and found a comfortable couch in the corner and our food came out hot and fast. The Morgan's Choice bagel sandwich I ordered was delicious. The bagel was excellent quality and toasted just how I'd do it myself. It had ample portions of sausage, egg, provolone cheese with roasted red pepper and was $6.50. They also have a Yelp check in offer for a free basic coffee upon check in. Score. Keep that in mind when ordering. I came in with a coupon from the local Attractions coupon book, which you should acquire if simply to use the 4 coupons offered in it by this establishment. I was happy when my coupon was accepted without argument. Some places try to make you order extra stuff before accepting a coupon, but not here. You could tell they've had lots of experience with these coupons as these ladies at the counter and in the back were friendly and efficient. I ordered a latte that I accidentally spilled while seated in the couch area, and one of the staff came over and helped me clean up right away. She never balked or seemed upset by the mess I'd accidentally created...then, she made me a replacement latte free of charge! Winner, winner, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They scored a customer for life right there on that one! She was very nice. I was pleased with my visit before that debacle and her friendliness and attentiveness and generosity were more than enough to keep me coming back here. They also have free WiFi, half price day old bagels, take home in house roasted coffee beans, and some day old baked bread at half price. Staffs: 5/5 adorable and helpful as they can be. I literally ordered a bit of everything. They were running insane trying to gather my orders. But patient with my indecisiveness. Food: 5/5 soo yummy.. I ordered baker's bagel dozen, 5 varieties muffins, a varieties dozen of donut holes (blueberry, red velvet and chocolate) and 3 different type of cream cheese (honey walnut, classic and veggie) the red velvet holes went within seconds. The place: 4/5 staffs were busy behind the counter taking and making order sooo they didn't have anybody to bust the tables.. but the decor is very eccentric. Stopped here for a quick breakfast on our final day in Myrtle. I had a lotsa lox on onion bagel which was phenomenal (could have used a little more lox, but the bagel was great, the capers were huge! and the cream cheese was super creamy and delicious) and medium roast coffee. I stumbled upon this gem while on a mini-vacay to the Myrtle Beach area. A quick Yelp search, one morning, for breakfast and brunch spots in the area led me right to it. Although the restaurant was a good 15 minutes away from my Air BnB, it was definitely worth the drive. I ended up visiting twice during my two day stay at the beach. The first day I stopped in, I was a little skeptical. The place doesn't look like much from the outside but is such a pleasant surprise when you walk through the door. As the name implies, Benjamin's is a bakery, with a wide variety of bagels and pastries, which also has several breakfast and lunch sandwich options. On my first visit I ordered bacon egg and cheese on a 7 grain sunflower seed bagel. I got my food to go and enjoyed it on the beach. It was super tasty so I went back for more the next day. This time I had sausage egg and cheese on an everything bagel and let me tell you...it was everything! As an added bonus I received a free small coffee just for checking in!
