Best thing to happen to this food strip in AGES ! Fresh…read moreingredients and tasty recipes . The price is appropriate for the type of food you're getting, but even more so-the portion sizes and flavor are top notch . We've already stoped in multiple times so here are some of our take aways : -dolmades : honestly, the best I've ever had. And I try them EVERYWHERE. Not cheaply portions either - solid roll and you get 5 in an order. WORTH IT. -pita chips : clearly homemade and SO delicious . They're softer than the ones people are used to getting, but firm enough to really hold some hummus Bowl/Wrap ingredients : BASES -med couscous: light and fluffy, not porridge-esque -warm garbanzo beans : Held their integrity during cooking so you're greeted with big pillows of seasoned goodness -farmers mix : more than just Romaine-reminiscent of a garden mix (arugula, kale, etc) SPREADS -zesty Feta : no words can do this justice. Chunky and full of love -roasted eggplant hummus : brought an almost Smokey flavor as opposed to regular hummus -Kalamata olive hummus : recommended by the young man making my dish and WOW so glad he did. I'm not a huuuuuuge olive fan and this was just a nice essence of kalamatas . I was afraid it would be too potent and take over the dish. QUITE THE OPPOSITE! Will never look back from other options ! -tzatzki : mild flavor and perfect accompaniment to anything it touches PROTEIN First off, they offer the most GENEROUS protein portions. You 'get 2' so they let you do a full scoop of one and a full scoop of the other. Falafel is about 4 balls per serving so you can mix and match with another protein -Moroccan steak : nice sized slices/bits of spiced meat -lemon chicken : you can taste the citrus without it being overpowering . Also in nice sized pieces -chicken shawarma : insta classic ! The meat is almost buttery it's cooked so well -falafel : my personal favorite . You can taste how fresh they are ! No dryness here! Great Big Crunch surrounding a little pillow of happiness . And if you choose this as your protein, be prepared to be AMAZED at how much you get! TOPPINGS Unlike other stores of this kind, the toppings bar is unlimited !!! And that doesn't speak to the quality of the ingredients. Again, everything is so fresh and taken care of properly. Most of this part is self explanatory so I'll just touch on the parts we found interesting: -chickpea croutons : not nearly as hard as expected to be so that was a plus. The shell has a crisp but you won't worry about breaking a tooth -dolmades : if you're afraid to commit to a full order, here's your chance to try it ! You won't be disappointed -tabbouleh : such a lovely addition to the meal you just created . Adds flavor with the mint/parsley/onion heavenly goodness -cabbage : tried both the white and red at different times and both were tasty. Felt that the white took in more of the flavor around the dish while the red just added crunch DRESSINGS -any tahini option is the right answer . If you're not familiar with the taste of tahini to begin with (earthy if you will), then I would recommend a flavored one -roasted red pepper tahini: a gift from above ! There is a slight sweet yet smokey flavor that wraps everything together -garlic jalapeño tahini : not as spicy as you'd imagine so it just gives a nice lil zest to your dish -lemon & olive oil : depending on what you put in your order, this will help with overall texture. If you opted out of wet stuff (tomatoes, lettuce, etc) this is your choice ! Lastly, The Earth Burger : like a big ole falafel and WOW did not disappoint . Maintained the integrity of the falafel (crispy outside, soft inside) while giving you the satisfying big bite you're looking for . Only complaint is since it is such a hearty size, maybe a size of tahini or tatziki should accompany it . I'd say on the burger but it's cooked so perfectly that I don't want to risk it getting soggy . Basically, this is a great asset to the area. Kind staff, smiling faces, clean sitting area and portion sizes that will have you stuffed all day !

Solid fast, casual Mediterranean food in Paramus…read more Despite Hummus Republic apparently having multiple locations in NJ and across the U.S., I shamelessly admit that I had neverrrrr, everrrrr heard of Hummus Republic prior to finding them on Yelp recently. Whenever I think of fast, casual Mediterranean food, popular spots like Naya, Cava and Eons come to mind and it was nice to see yet ANOTHER option in Hummus Republic. As they say, the more the merrier! Hummus Republic's menu looks eerily similar to those aforementioned competitors. They serve your ever popular Mediterranean-inspired custom bowls, wraps and pitas that comprise of a base/carb/salad, protein (e.g. chicken, falafel, shawarma, etc.), hummus and spreads, toppings and dressings. One thing was for sure after I brought our takeout orders home - it will satisfy any large appetite because the employees absolutely PACKED our bowls to the gills. There wasn't even enough breathing room for an ant! My wife and I both ordered custom bowls with chicken shawarma and falafel and various toppings. As favorable as the serving size was, unfortunately, the flavors were no Naya, Cava or Eons. Don't get me wrong, it was decent, but something was definitely lacking. The ingredients were fresh, but something about the mixture of it all didn't gel. It was one of those "when you know, you know" type of situations because, after taking a few bites, we both agreed that its competitors were definitely better overall. STILL, with what I said about the flavors, it was solid. By far from something terrible, but a rung below the best of the fast, casual Mediterranean spots. There is no doubt Naya, Cava and Eons are at the very top, but, if we were in the area, would I drop in again? Sure. Absolutely. Custom Bowl with halal chicken and falafel

The food is a tasty tapestry of fresh ingredients, traditional cooking techniques, and bold spices. Its specialties are as diverse and distinctive as the cultures of the 18 countries it comprises. Located off of Route 46 West in Elmwood Park, King Falafel is where I decided on takeout after a 5-year hiatus. Upon arrival at a laid-back, clean, and casual vibe before the lunch crowd, I placed an order of falafel and Greek salad with the friendly chef/owner, Sami, and exchanged a few words. Their menu offers a wide range with options for vegans, vegetarians, and gluten-free. The falafel was crispy, not dry, well-seasoned, and served hot with sides of tahini and spicy sauce. The portions were huge and very tasty. The Greek salad was made to order without onions and green peppers. It was large enough for a second meal. The quality and care the kitchen puts into each dish truly set them apart, and it's authentic. The service was quick and accommodating. The price was reasonable, and one is getting every penny's worth, which I can continue to recommend.

I've tried a couple different sandwiches and they were all delicious. The cook really does a great job of mixing different ingredients together and each sandwich is made with care. This place offers up fantastic Mediterranean fare and is run by some of the nicest people around. When they saw my husband eyeing a platter of an interesting dessert, they offered us both small spoonfuls to sample (I don't remember what it was called, but it was coconutty and delicious). I adored the falafel platter, which was a behemoth serving of 6 falafels, freshly made hummus, tabbouleh, and pita. The falafels were freshly fried and had a lovely sprinkle of sesame seeds. Coupled with a smooth smear of homemade hummus, my eyes were fluttering shut as I ate. My husband's side of the table went similarly silent as he dug voraciously into his mixed shawarma sandwich. He especially appreciated how they toasted the wrapper, which was more like a lavash than a pita. Before we left, we got a baba ghanoush to go. Our jaws dropped when we saw the serving size. We're so used to getting tiny containers from other spots that this giant aluminum platter of eggplant spread - complete with a little pool of fresh olive oil drizzle and stack of warmed pita - had us stilled with shock. We appreciated the sides and variety of sauces that came with our meal. The small cups of mayo, tzatziki, and spicy sauce, along with olives, pepperocinis, and pickled radishes, really helped complete our meal. These small and thoughtful touches made this meal feel more like eating in someone's home kitchen rather than a restaurant. On that note - know that everything is made from scratch and to order, which means the food will take a little longer than you might expect from a fast casual spot. This sweet gem is located on a random street in Hackensack, and a bit hard to find if you're not looking for it because there isn't much to draw attention to it. There's a small parking lot right in front of the restaurant, making it easy to drop in for a quick meal or to-go order.

Either find on the street nearby to walk or in the very tiny space in the front (to which good luck if you try to back out). However, that said the food more than makes up for it. Extremely fresh food made from scratch, you can tell the quality is there looking at the kitchen. This is also the only place to this day that I've found in the area that serves hot grape leaves, which are my favorite item on the menu, most mediterranean spots only make them cold. Their platters are also very filling and solid portion size. If you prefer to go lighter, there are also sandwich options with or without fries. Seating is very small, so takeout is their main business though you could certainly dine in if you'd like. Service has always been solid, the owner is very friendly! I'll keep coming back despite the tricky parking.
