Had an order of take out. 4 pastas, one pizza and a few slices. Came to pick it up, brought it home and noticed one pasta was missing. Called and they told us they had it and we had to come back. We asked if they would bring it as we drove 15 there, 15 min back. They said no. Round trip we drove an hour for their bagging mistake, no apologies and didn't refund the pasta. We got home and reheated that pasta, it was fine. For the ones who stayed home and ate, the food was decent. Two gluten free pastas, I wouldn't trust this place being celiac safe as I bet they use the same pasta water and drainer. Luckily we had no reactions. There was plenty of parking out front and seating inside. They were half an hour shy of closing and welcomed us upon entering. They didn't have many options available so I ordered two cheese slices. This is a thin crust style pizza. The sauce has a nice flavor and ample cheese to meet your pizza craving. This isn't the BEST pizza I have had but if you are in the mood for pizza and don't mind a thin crust this is a decent option. There were several people walking in to pick up orders while I was there so this seems to be a well frequented place. I would return for more pizza and to try the wings. read more

I'm astounded at the positive food reviews. The food was inedible. The chicken is cooked beyond comprehension that it is even chicken. I had written this place off years ago after dealing with someone incredible rude on the phone while placing a catering order. Apparently asking for them to mix up the sandwiches on the sandwich platter was annoying and not specific enough for them? Decided to give another try this past week. Ordered fried calamari and a Shrimp Parm dinner. Immediately as I walked out with my order the calamari smelled fishy. It didn't have a bad taste but was overdone and chewy. But the $23 shrimp parm was the real disappointment. It was 100% frozen Sea-Pak style shrimp made into a parm dish. Tons of breading and terrible taste. If I had eaten in the restaurant I would have sent it back it was that bad. My kids liked their pasta dishes but my order came out to over $50 and was full of disappointment. I've been coming here for almost 30 years, so I am biased in thinking that this is the best slice of pizza in an area known for pizza places. The people who aren't biased are the friends and acquaintances that I have fed this pizza to, and who, despite their determination to defend their hometown pizza place, readily admit three bites in that this pizza is something special. Thin, crispy slices with a good tasting sauce, and perfectly melted cheese is the style here, and it's never failed to hit the mark. So I'm updating my review for Ness and bumping it up a star after eating here many more times. Their pizza is a very good thin crust. Some pies might be made with an extremely thin crust which may become more cracker like upon baking. It happens though, I'd still prefer a super thin crust to a doughy crust. I think Ness has really nailed the sexy sauce/crust combination. The sauce is very obviously home made and not from a shitty jar/can. Their sandwiches (I've had both the meatball and the chicken parm) are great and huge too. Their muscles are all right, I'd probably get them again but not the best I've ever had. Chicken caesar salad is fine (kind of a typical pizzeria salad). Overall, Ness will give you a good bang for your buck, prices are very reasonable. Ness is a hole in the wall type pizzeria (although there is a dining area to the side). Their counter space is kind of weird because on display is everything BUT their pizza which is inconveniently hidden in a corner. All in all, I'm a fan of Ness thin crust pizza and will continue coming back. read more

Been eating here for what seems like forever. It's like my go to place. Food is great, plentiful and more than reasonable. I can even get 1/2 orders of pasta if I'm not all that hungry. Ness Pizza is hands-down the best pizza in town. Their main 5 pies are white, bruschetta, buffalo, sicilian, and regular. Most of the times I'm there I get a white, a regular and one rollatini which they heat up in a ceramic dish. Unlike most places, Ness makes their own mozzarella which gives their pizza a unique taste similar to much higher-end places found in NY. While I'm on the topic of NY, I would point out that they offer one of the best thin crusts anywhere. Their crust has some great flavour and in over 30 visits never had a bad one. Another great characteristic about Ness is their drinks. Unlike most placed in the area, they offer Boylan sodas and the occasional small brand I've never heard of before. Granted they don't always offer the same flavours (for instance they had "orange cream soda" for a month in the summer but I haven't seen it since). Still, the little things they put effort into really count. One of the other things I would recomend to have while you're there is definitely to spend the extra $3 for one of their cannollis...they make their own cream, and it's awsome. Overall, Ness Pizza is one of those gems in the community and I would definitely recommend checking them out. read more

By no means is Ness Pizza the best thing NJ has seen in terms of pizza, but I would say that it definitely ranks up there in terms of what Fair Lawn has to offer. Their slices are this but tasty. They have a nice balance of sauce and cheese on their pizzas which is big thing I look out for when buying slices. I really must commend Ness on their vodka sauce as well. A meal at Ness for me usually consists of a slice, a small penne vodka, and a drink all for around $8. I have also had their grilled chicken ceasar sald which is one of my favorites around town (they give a lot of chicken). Their chicken parm is okay (a little oily). And the bread the serve with meals seem to be store bought not fresh baked which is a little bit of a shame. Overall in terms of the pizza places in the area this is definitely a solid choice. A clean store, friendly staff, and fresh food will keep me coming back. read more

I found an over a half-inch piece of metal, from a steel-wool cleaning scourer, in my pasta dish eating here this past weekend. Actually, I didn't find it in the meal, I found it in my mouth. It made its way into my mouth before my tongue felt what it was. I feel SO lucky that I felt it before I swallowed. But the memory of pulling it out of my mouth, and what it would have done to my throat and esophagus, is traumatizing. The waitress gave us a new dish but nothing was comped on the bill. read more

It is really more Ness's Pizza and Italian Restaurant in terms of the food. Owner is nice and so are the other workers. The pizza here is ok, Turvino's/Ness are better. 3..but they give a good amount if not overwhelming of toppings. Better than chain pizza though. 5 for the Meatball Hero. Very large, very good, and the price is definitely fine. So a mix of 5 and 3, give it a 4. Stick with the hero's. read more

Ness is my favorite hometown pizza place and the home of the quintessential Jersey slice: thin crust, crispy, and slightly burnt around the edges; sweet and savory tomato sauce, but not so much that it falls out after taking a big bite; and fresh mozzarella cheese. I would give it 5 stars, but my only gripe is that sometimes the bottom of the slice is a little floppy. Still, really good. Quick tip-- the bruschetta slice is their local specialty. Been there twice, but will never again. Pizza is horrible - dry, thick and almost un-edible. For the poor quality way too pricey. A medium veggie and a large cheese pizza cost us 31$, but we could not eat even 2 pieces. Attitude of the person taking the order at the front was very rude, and by the way he was busy drinking a beer while taking the order. On August 6th I was visiting my sister in Paramus and she had her son and a couple of cousins there as well She ordered 3 large cheese pies and her son and daughter inlaw picked them up on their way over. I can honestly say I was in heaven as the pizza was not just good it was great. It arrived still hot and thin crust and even in the middle it was crisp.( not the soggy stuff we get here ) Oh what I would give to have this place in Manahawkin.. we must have pizza places on every corner down here and at best mediocre, nothing to write home about.
