1 star only because I have to leave a star to post! I went to get my wedding bank, my engagement ring, and my anniversary ring sautered together. Since I live in the area and see their big sign that states to support local business, I thought, lets do it. First, when I arrived, I received no acknowledgement, just buzzed in, which is fine because there were somewhat busy. As I approached the counter, no one made eye contact with me, or acknowledged my presence, until finally someone looked up and she made the eye contact. I smiled and said "HI". I was helped by this younger, thin, employee that made me feel no welcomed, no conversation, no smiling, just looked unhappy to be there. I mentioned to her what I was there for, gave her my rings, very awkward silence as she went onto analyzing my three rings. At that moment another customer came in, and this older, short, lady with glasses, acknowledged her smiles, said "Welcome in, how can I help you?" They started chatted about this clients Rolex watch, fun facts were tossed, while I am standing next to them thinking, "Wow, different customer experience." The person that was helping me continued to be quiet, writing on a receipt my request, handed me the receipt and said "they will be done within a week to a week and a half." That was it! This girl said nothing else to me besides 2 sentences. I felt as if my rings and business were not worth their time and seemed like I wasted this persons 10 minutes of time. I went home and told my husband my experience and told him I have never felt so shitty! He asked if I still left my rings, I continued to tell him that I did, because I felt awkward taking them back. A little back story, prior to me leaving my rings, I had emailed them and ask them for a timeframe of getting my rings sautered, they stated it would be done a few days, this is why I also decided to go in there. A week has gone by, I emailed them for an updated, and I received an email back stating, "We are not opened on Monday and Tuesday, but I can push to have them ready by Wednesday." Told them that was fine and apologized for bothering them on a Monday. I REGRET APOLOGIZING NOW! Then I contacted them again on Saturday (Saturday was now 2 weeks of me dropping off my rings) to get an update, the young lady that I spoke to was actually very sweet, she apologized because they were ready, but to call back NEXT FRIDAY! That would have been 3 weeks without my rings, when they initially emailed me saying it would take a few days, to then a week to a week and a half, not then being 3 weeks?!! Insane! I told the representative on the phone, stating that I am on my way to pick up my rings! I hung up with in no more than 5 minutes they call me back, they left me a voicemail and stated "I am calling you from Bennett Valley Jewelers and we just got off the phone, we can have your rings done and ready for pickup by 3pm" (I called at 12:58pm). My husband and I went down to the jeweler place, the same original thin, tall employee, helped us, still with the "I hate being here" face helped us, ask what we needed, told her I am here for my rings, gave her my last name, and she went off to "go find them". I think the lady that answered my call is the one that gave me back my rings, because again, she was very nice. Then a older gentleman came out (I think it was the jeweler tech) and said "So sorry, can you come back in a hour and they will be ready." I simply said "No, thank you." My experience was awful, I felt that because I am a customer that didn't go in there spending thousands of dollars my business was put to the back burner. I am not saying that because I am a customer they have to kiss my ass, because I also work in customer service, but at least I know how to treat people with acknowledgement, respect, and no business is too small. The shitty thing, is that my husband, also went in there to support local business, to get my engagement ring sized and he too had horrible service from the same person! They showed me the style of band, the diamond that would be used and how the diamond would look in the bezel. Less than a week later it was ready. So, at this point I am questioning the credibility of this jeweler. I spoke with them several times in the last year regarding watches as they are one of a few in the northern cali area that is/was an Authorized Rolex Dealer. I recently called about 3 weeks back asking about a few watches and Ty (the owner) told me he did have the rare ones in stock that I was looking for. He stated that he would need to check with his partner to see if he can sell them to me or not. Strange. I also found it strange that he had ALL of the rare Rolex watches in stock at the same time. I never received a call back from him that evening. So I decided to wake up early and drive to Santa Rosa as they opened to see the watches and speak with Ty about possibly selling the watches to me as they did not have buyers. When I arrived I was shocked to see that they had no Rolex signs anywhere outside or inside the watch. I was shocked again to notice that they did not have a single watch in the store or in a case. Ty showed up five minutes after me and told me that he would have grabbed the watches from the safe if he knew I was coming. (You would have known I was coming if you would have returned my call.) He stated he recently lost his Rolex AD license. He said he would crunch some numbers and get back to me by noon. He called me at 4:00 PM that day and told me he wasn't going to sell the watches I wanted until he sold some of the Rolex watches that he had posted on Craigslist. I then went on Craigslist and found the watches he had for sale. I messaged him stating that I would purchase the watches from him, which he had listed at a premium several thousand dollars over asking price. He told me he had a buyer on deposit that was going to be picking them up Tuesday. Funny because he had just told me he hadn't sold them. I waited until Tuesday and followed up to hear another excuse. Over the next couple of weeks I just kept getting excuse after excuse from him. Then he finally stopped returning my texts. I then noticed that he reposted the watches online for sale yesterday. So, I just messaged him stating that I saw he re-posted the watches for sale and asked if he would sell them to me. He sent a text saying "Partner repost". I responded with "Okay. Can you let him know I will buy the 'watches'?" His final response was "Will let you know if that is possible". So, I question whether this is even a trustworthy jewelry store to purchase jewelry from. It appears as though he does not want to sell jewelry in my opinion. Also, seems a little crooked to be an AD and stock pile the rare watches just to flip them at a premium, which Rolex does not allow. Just my $.02 read more

This is an embarrassingly long-overdue review for the beautiful work that Ty and Joanne did (literally coming up on 6 years ago - told you it was overdue...) on my and my husband's wedding rings. We had a somewhat unusual set of stones to incorporate into my ring - we went into it not totally sure how we wanted it to be, and Ty patiently went over lots of design ideas with us - each one better than the next - until we zeroed in on what we agreed was the perfect setting, style and look for it (which we might have never come up with on our own.) We had a more specific idea in mind for my husband's ring - he already had a very particular pattern of vines and leaves that he wanted encircling the ring, and he and Ty emailed back and forth re: the finer points of it to make sure it was exactly what he had in mind. (And the resulting look exceeded our best expectations.) Both Ty and Joanne were a complete delight to work with - very personable and true experts at what they do. There were about 7 staff in the store, 3 customers, including myself and I still had to wait 30 minutes to be helped. In 2019, I took my Rolex watch to Bennett Valley Jewelers to get a new bezel. After the watch was returned to me, it never kept time. The hands didn't move correctly. I returned there a variety of times to inform them that the watch wasn't working. Each time they took the watch and said they would have it checked. This went on for three years. Finally, I took it directly to a Rolex repair professional who in fact repaired the watch. So when I spoke with Bennett Valley Jewelers about it the owners stated that I never asked for a repair! What did they think I was asking for when I told them that the watch didn't keep time?!? This is my FIRST yelp review and I felt that BV Jewelers warrented a 5 star and MORE. I came to get an engagement ring using a stone that was gifted to me from my fiance's family. Joanne helped my Mom, finace, and myself with patience, fantastic suggestions, and follow up phone calls. When I got my ring back, I actually cried it was so beautiful. Because of Jonanne's suggestions, I am now wearing a set of rings that did not initally match and now look like a set from heaven. I needed a new battery in my Tag Heuer watch. Like other expensive watches, this is not a simple process of popping the back off and replacing the battery. Special tools are needed, so not every jeweler can do it. I asked around among friends if they knew a jeweler who could do this, and one of my coworkers recommended Bennett Valley Jewelers, saying his family had been going there for decades. Though it was a 30 mile drive, and not that easy to get to, I took his recommendation and found Bennett Valley Jewelers. It is tucked away in a small strip mall, in a Bennett Valley, Santa Rosa neighborhood. I walked in to find a beautiful store, filled with customers. I expected a long wait, but I watched the jewelers at the counters taking care of customers, and really liked the personal and friendly way they were working, so I decided to stay, expecting a long wait. One of the jewelers, and a co-owner, Ty, took immediate notice of me, and said, "I'll be with you in just a minute." He finished what he was doing with the other customer, and asked me how he could help. I showed him the watch and asked if they could change the battery. He said, "Can you let us keep it for a few days?" I fully expected that, and told him that would be fine. I casually said I'd driven a long way, not expecting any consideration to that, and though the store was full of people, he said, "Let me see if we can do this right now." He took my watch in the back, and returned a few minutes later, having replaced the battery. The price he charged was well below what the jewelers I used to go to in San Francisco, charged. I was stunned he was so willing to take the extra effort to get me taken care of at more than a fair price. As I sat and waited, I overheard a woman (his wife?) talking to other customers with the same care and service. What great people! I was in and out of the shop in about 20 minutes, really feeling like had been treated like a long-time customer. The shop has a full suite of beautiful jewelry, and sells and services high end watches. They do not talk down to customers, nor are they snooty and patronizing like many high-end stores are. They are truly the epitome of what a small, local business should be like. I was almost reluctant to post this review, because how this jewel among gems will be known to more people. haha.... But if you have a need for beautiful jewelry, repairs, or service, by the best of the best, go see Ty and his shop. Allow me to set the stage: I had a minor issue with my Swiss Army Watch. Most things I fix myself, but watches are more delicate and I definitely don't have the proper tools. Since Bennett Valley Jewelers is close to my house, I figured why not. Of course when they buzzed me into the store, the staff there had to figure that I'm not really their clientele. My personal look says "quiet and rugged". I don't spend my hard earned money on compressed carbon attached to investment metals. My excess money goes to things like firearms and outdoor equipment. Despite the fact that the people there could easily assume that I was not about to purchase any of their high-end items, I have to say that the staff were exceptionally professional and friendly. Without question they took a few minutes to fix my watch at no charge. While I can't say that I'll be in the market for anything they offer, I would certainly recommend to anyone! Great people! I love Bennett Valley Jewelers. They are on the high end quality scale so they are expensive (just know that going in). The owners, Joanne and Ty, are very different though. Joanne is very sweet and helpful. And from what I've experienced with Ty, he is an ass, for a lack of a better word. Besides that, the rest of the staff is great! Adan, the jeweler, is always working in the back, and his work has always met my expectations. Suzanne, along with Joanne, is one of the ladies in the front that attends the customers who is also kind to everyone. The craftsmanship of the repairs (in my experience and in my friends' experiences) has been excellent and so is the jewelry in the displays. I've never seen more than 3 maybe 4 staff in the store and have had to wait a few minutes for service if there was another customer. Of course, one of the staff is the repair person who doesn't do customer service. I have used them for several minor repairs and re-tipping my engagement ring. I've found their service prices to be quite reasonable. Another comment about the prior review. Regarding the person who had a new battery put into their Swiss Army watch. Firstly, the reason they cannot guarantee your watch to be waterproof is that they are not a Swiss Army Watch authorized dealer. Only swiss army has the appropriate machines for their watches to be pressure tested, etc. Taking your swiss army into an authorized rolex dealer is the same as giving your watch to your uncle and asking him to replace the battery. Rolex's and swiss army's are different watches, thus you have to ask someone who specializes in swiss army to pressure test your watch and make sure the gaskets are up to par. Secondly, I have to question whether you're speaking of the right store. Bennett Valley Jewelers main sales floor is about the size of my master bedroom. They don't even have seven employees total that even work for the store! They have two full time sales ladies, one who mainly works as a receptionist and another part time sales lady. The owner also works doing various jobs there. There is also, of course, Don, the watch "mechanic." So when you say SEVEN employees I have to think you're either mistaken to which store you were visiting or you are lying. Also, saying they looked at you in the manner they did is probably because you felt embarrassed asking a Rolex dealer to change a battery in a quartz watch. I love Bennett Valley as they've always been professional and helpful. Sure, one must wait sometimes because it's a small venue, but so what? Must we have everything right here, right now? Seems a tad immature. I've purchased two Rolex's from them and have had them replace a battery in a Tag Heuer of mine. They've been great and I'm glad they're here in Santa Rosa. read more
