Went to Pamela's for the second time. We went for the half price wine special and this second visit confirmed that my wife and I like this restaurant and we will be happy to return. We had a window seat looking right to the mountains. Great view! They have shades that come down as the sun starts to set. Is the decor "upscale", no. It's very nice but it's a hotel restaurant that serves breakfast too. So it can't be the decor of high end restaurants around town, but it is still nice. The killer views easily make up for that. They also have west facing outdoor seating..that will be nice in the summer! I just don't eat as much as I used to so my wife and I decided to split the Caesar salad and split the chicken pot pie. I assumed they would bring the one salad and two plates for us to do the splitting.....but no! They brought out the salads already split and ready to go. They did the same for the pot pie with each serving topped with a biscuit for the pot pie part. It was also nice that they didn't add a split plate fe The salads were good we both thought the pot pie was good and of course the half price wine was nice. The wine list is not extensive but some decent choices gruner (white) wine. I can't complain about the service, our service was friendly and attentive. The standards at this restaurant on one of the US Service Academies were probably the worst dining experiences I've ever had. We made the reservation specifically to celebrate a special occasion, yet neither the hostess nor our waiter (Brayden) even acknowledged it. When we mentioned it ourselves, the only gesture was one measly glass of cheap champagne for a table of four. The dress code was a joke. OpenTable lists it as Business Casual, but we saw the hostess in sweatpants and Chuck Taylors, a server in what looked like physical training gear and Crocs, plus plenty of T-shirts, shorts, and open-toed shoes. Perhaps they should take their meals outside. Only the north section was seated during our visit, directly in the blinding sunset from 6-7pm. The only logical reason to keep it open seems to be avoiding cleaning it at close. Both surf & turf steaks arrived undercooked, and everything was wildly overpriced. Finally, Brayden--we could already tell your preference; the rainbow coordinating pens weren't necessary. Will never return. Damn food made all us gassy as hell. read more

We arrived from an 8 hr road trip drive and we were staying at this hotel . My husband said lets just eat here without me looking at the reviews . We ordered the corn soup it was literally oil in a bowl with zero flavor. The brussel sprouts were soggy no flavor. The waiter , he never came over and asked us how our food was. He was a nice guy but needs traininh , It was dead inside too. Then our dinner came 45 min later for piece of Fish that was full of bones. It had some flavor with lots of lemon and sauce . They need a new Chef and too train wait staff on how to go check on tables and clear empty dishes not leave them there . The view was incredible and restaurant was Beautiful . As the "premier" restaurant at the Polaris Hotel, my wife and I expected a lot better. We came celebrating our anniversary. The waitstaff was very good. The food, on the other hand was uneatable. I ordered the ribeye steak. At $52 (without a side), I expected to get an excellent steak. What I got was a steak that was so tough it was shoe leather. The manager changed that out (which was good) for a fillet. That steak was almost worse. Very mushy and there was no flavor. I also got the garlic mashed potatoes -- very salty. My wife got the salmon which, thankfully, was cooked well. The salmon came with a lemon caper sauce. But it tasted like white paste with a few capers added and had NO lemon flavor. Very disappointing for the cost of the meal. My assessment is that the chefs in the back are not tasting what they are putting out. The waiter was very embarrassed and in talking to them it sounds like the chefs are not listening to the waitstaff. This is a BIG miss. The waitstaff are the front line of the food preparation team and are the ones that can give feedback directly to the chefs about how they are doing. For a hotel that has been there almost 2 years now, the experience was very disappointing and I wonder about their longevity if they don't figure out how to cook a decent meal....especially for the price. First of all, the location is beautiful. It's decorated on a contemporary style with a stunning view of the mountains. The service was impeccable. We ordered the picanha steak with asparagus and polenta to share. The steak was good, but not amazing. Honestly the part of the meal that wowed me was the peppercorn sauce. One major drawback is that the restaurant is open to the bar right outside the entrance. The night we came there was a loud band playing. I'm sure it would be a lot of fun if that's what you came to enjoy, but we wanted a quiet, romantic dinner. read more

What a wonderful evening with a longtime friend! Beautiful hotel and restaurant! Food and drinks were amazing! The bartender was very knowledgeable and the lemon drop he made me was top notch and the best one I ever had! The food was warm, fresh and flavorful! Our table was situated right by the window where we watched the beautiful sunset! There are three other places to go in the hotel... One is like a sports bar and then there's a rooftop bar. 4.5 stars I was excited to try out Pamela's for a birthday dinner at the newly opened Hotel Polaris. Did it deliver? I believe so. Pros: - Brand new hotel with a sparkly new eatery. - Service is A+ (from the host to the servers to the manager, everyone is very courteous and attentive) - Ambiance and decor is modern and complimented the dining experience. - Food options are commendable (from veggies to meats, they have something for everyone). - Serving sizes of the main course dishes is on the smaller side, but they are flavorful. (See note 2 in the cons list) - Complimentary drink for the birthday guy was much appreciated. Now, the cons: - I'll take the L for this, but most of the meats with a rub were excessively salty (esp the salmon). I was feeling very conscious given the nice customer service and was too scared to send it back. - I was also surprised with the plating of main course dishes. The Salmon was accompanied by a whisper of a salad, which given the price of the dish seemed weird. (Although they do serve a complimentary bread basket, which was fresh and yummy) - Their bar menu is not very extensive (but I'll give it up to them barely opening; we visited during week 1) That being said, if you're in the mood for a good dining experience at a fancy new location, Pamela's is worth a try. The entrance to the facility is on the east side. None of the west side doors would open. The new Polaris Hotel just opened the beginning of the month so they may be working kinks out with regard to service. Staff is all super friendly and accommodating. We found the atmosphere in Pamela's to be beautiful inside and will come back during daylight hours to see the view from Aviator on the 9th floor. We had reservations for 6:30. Shortly after being seated we ordered drinks. The drinks did not arrive for 15 minutes. My husband got a beer. Many locals are on tap. Our friend had a non-spirit pina colada she enjoyed. I ordered a Blue Line. It was ok but a bit sweet for me. Water came in a bottle that was convenient to serve ourselves. We needed to ask for a refill. The bread served with dinner was nothing special. It was room temp and fairly tasteless but it looked good. Our friend ordered the burger. It looked large and delicious. Cooked to perfection but the bottom of the bun soaked through so she had to eat it with a fork and knife. It came with crispy fries. My husband got the angus steak. For $48 you would think it would be served with more than one small broiled sweet pepper. The steak was cooked perfectly. I got the mushroom risotto. It was good with plenty of mushrooms and rice. It was dressed with Emerge Hydroponics lettuce, a local growing facility so very fresh. We celebrated a birthday and they comped dessert for the birthday woman. She had the brownie Sunday which was very good but cold out of the fridge. The peach cobbler was very good-served warm with a small bit of ice cream on top. I got the mango pannecotta which was absolutely delicious. I so wanted to like the plate! We'll return again and try Aviator the next time. read more

My son and date had dinner here on Saturday and many places will look at a 16 year old and dismiss them as a low tip. I took my elderly mother to Mothers Day brunch and asked for a table with a view. We got one of the best tables in the restaurant. This is probably the last time my mother will be able to get out for a Mothers Day brunch and I can say enough how grateful I am to Pamela's for making this such a special day. Went to Valentine's dinner here. Enjoyed the ambiance, low lights, classy Valentines theme. We had a bottle of Cab Sav from Sonoma. We opted for the regular menu rather than the special Valentines menu. Shared a Caesar salad which was excellent. My wife had trout and I had a half portion of the meatloaf. Both entrees were excellent. Our waiter was prompt, friendly and courteous. The view of the mountains as the sun set could not be beat. We will return here. Outstanding evening. read more

We had a large party, and the service was second to none. From the moment we arrived, Stacy made us feel welcome and special. The ambiance is as good as it gets in town, and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a special night out. HOWEVER, I would eat at home and come for drinks and MAYBE dessert. There were eight of us, and not one of our meals was palatable. The steaks were tough, overcooked, and tasteless. The sharp scent of the lobster mac and cheese reached clear to the other end of the table. The baked brie tasted good but needed a knife to cut through the skin. And the Beef Stroganoff was in a class by itself. Tasteless, and the "homemade noodles" were like cutting and eating rubber bands. I don't think there was a mushroom on the plate, and I've never had dry Stroganoff before. The trout looked and felt like leather and was totally tasteless. The only thing any of us would have reordered was the Brussel sprouts. We have eaten here several times (the definition of insanity?), and I kept making excuses thinking maybe the chef was sick and someone else was cooking that night. But at roughly $100 per person with a drink and tip, we won't go back for a meal until they get a new chef or a new menu or new recipes - or all of the above. Love the place, but the food is ALWAYS a disappointment. read more

Kind of debated on 2-2.5 stars based on the expectation of the hotel, restaurant and menu pricing. I just don't have the heart. Service: Made the reservation a week or two in advance knowing we were staying at the hotel. The hostesses were friendly and professional. Our waitress was also friendly upon introduction but we lost her for most of our evening. It wasn't fully booked (Monday night) and she didn't seem to be overwhelmed with tables but she would just disappear. Another gentleman, who I assume was a manager, dropped off our food, brought us additional plates, checked in with us, bussed our table, presented dessert, and then asked if we'd like him to grab our check. In between what felt like his service, our server checked in with us once just after he dropped off our food, asked if we wanted dessert just after he asked, asked if we wanted our check just after he asked, brought our check and seemed a bit lacking in confidence to split the check (which we had asked him to do). All in all, both were very kind and professional..it was just odd timing and felt like he was our server. Ambiance: Pretty! I'm also told this place is roughly a year old, so maybe that contributed to the fresh "vibe". Food: The two of us split the Picanha (says it feeds 2-3) which came with some greens and a polenta bread. It said it was a chimichurri picanha on the menu but a chimichurri was nowhere to be found, just a peppercorn sauce on the side. I can't believe I am saying this, but the sides were terribly overly salted. Basic seasoning requires the right amount of salt to access the flavor...some people appreciate taking salty seasoning a little beyond that - I'm one of those people. But...this was definitely overly salted. At the end of the meal, I wasn't "hungry" but was not full for the $95 it was to split 8 slices of top-sirloin cap, a peppercorn sauce, roughly 6-8oz of cooked greens & 4 cubes of polenta bread. The take home we were left with was 1 slice of steak (I'll chalk that up to my friend not enjoying her half of the meal), about 1/4 greens and 2 of the 4 polenta cubes. It was all left on the plates because of how salty it was. We just couldn't bring ourselves to eat more than what we had initially dished ourselves. I accepted a to-go box to give it a second chance later. The next day it was confirmed - the picanha was "just" good. It tasted like a chemically-charcoal char on the crust, fat cap was not totally melty, but the requested cook on it (medium) was great and I could bit through the red meat perfectly. Seasoning was basic. The sides were even saltier than I tried to give them credit for the first time around. Of the 2 polenta cubes we boxed, I tossed the final one after stomaching the 3rd. I could only manage one bite of the greens. I love what Pamela's is trying to do on their menu, I just didn't feel the execution was there and it wasn't worth the price to risk trying. I fear they will only survive based on stranded travelers staying at the hotel that didn't have the option to dine at their other food options onsite (which were closed on Monday evenings). I hope the feedback from this and other reviews is taken in and addressed. The concept, professionalism and ambiance is there. They just need the food and service to be there to make the $$ worth it! read more

Before we went, we talked to several friends who dinned there and were underwhelmed by the food. We cancelled. Everyone we spoke with said Pamela's needs a mjor overhaul. Staying at the Polaris for an event, I enjoyed dinner here last night with some old friends. This place is a great addition to northern Colorado Springs. It's a nice break from all the primarily chain restaurants you see in the area. We started off with 2 orders of bone marrow which was delicious. You get 2 bones per order so two orders was more than enough for 3 of us. We mainly got them so we could each do a bone marrow luge with some bourbon (ask your server for some bourbon with it). For mains one of my friends and I split the Ribeye and Mushroom risotto. The ribeyes was a tad over cooked but still delicious. The mushroom risotto was just okay. My friends ordered the special which was an elk. She really enjoyed hers. We also shared an order of the lobster Mac and cheese which was excellent. For desert we shared a slice of cheesecake and the sticky toffee pudding which were both great. Overall an excellent meal. Would definitely eat here again. read more

NYC & Honolulu prices for average to sub-par food quality... plus odd menu choices at dinner. I had such high hopes, since it's so close to home. So, let me explain... First, the positives.... The atmosphere is amazing. Beautiful light fixtures and interior design. The view of Pikes Peak and the Academy is like no other. The cocktails were average to above average, but pricey when compared to other local restaurants. The negatives... waiter didn't really have much knowledge of the menu. We asked if we could have scallops added to the risotto and he *wasn't sure*. We had to ask for bread service as it wasn't offered. And he checked on us a grand total of twice. The restaurant was about 1/3 full. The menu was very limited and didn't have any *typical* options.... no gourmet burger, but they had meatloaf? There is no entree under $50 and the average price was between $50-$70, which includes no sides... those were a la carte. I ordered the corn chowder... taste was good, but got several bites of weird fat cubes and quite a few inedible bites of corn cob pieces. The lobster cake was mushy on the inside, but the flavor was okay. It was also oddly covered with deep fried long scallion leaves... which was really odd and made the dish difficult to eat. The risotto was overly salted with large chunks of whole mushroom, which was unappetizing. There is potential and I hope they fix things, but at these prices you're only paying for the view. So just come for a cocktail and hopefully they will revamp the menu with more appropriate items and come back to earth with their prices. It's not Nobu or Morton's. read more

We went to Pamela's tonight to celebrate a friends birthday. The reservation was for 7 people at 5:30PM. Pamela's in located inside the Polaris Hotel right outside the Air Force Academy North Gate. The Polaris is a brand new hotel catering to the Academy, friends and family and parents of students with an "Air Force" theme. The hotel takes advantage of the views of the Academy and Pike's Peak by utilizing large windows to take in the entire view of the mountain and Cadet Chapel. Pamela's the restaurant is no exception. Upon entering the restaurant, you will notice an updated mid-century vibe and decor with a tinge of the Jetson's. Seating was prompt and service was immediate, asking for drink orders and appetizers. Drinks average about $18 to include wine. They did have a wine menu but we did not order any bottles. For dinner, I ordered the 14oz Ribeye, medium rare and my wife ordered the salmon. Sides are "family style" and range from $11 to $17. The sides were described by the waitress to be enough to serve 2-3 people. As a result, we ordered mashed potatoes and garlic sautéed spinach. Dinner was promptly served and well timed. My ribeye was cooked at the appropriately and at the right temperature. At this point, I will say the steak was $50. The actual cut is a CHOICE cut and not a prime steak. The steak had significant sinew and was about 1 inch thick. After removing all the sinew and fat, you are left with about a 10oz cut. With respect to my wife's salmon, she took the suggestion from the waitress to have the salmon with a lemon caper sauce, which is what she ordered. My wife cut into the salmon and took the first bite and discovered a lemon caper sauced covered salmon over a MISO GINGER glaze. We inquired about this with the manager who indicated they are all cooked with a miso ginger glaze (the menu is silent about this, if accurate). As a result, the salmon was inedible. The "family style" sides were considerably smaller than alluded to and basically a large single serving. The mashed potatoes were simply mashed potatoes and the spinach was not sauteed in garlic, they had no flavor. My daughter ordered cheesecake for dessert and it started to crumble when pushing the fork into it. It appears the cheesecakes are delivered frozen to the restaurant and served partially dehydrated. This was one of the driest cheesecakes we have had the displeasure to bite into. You would do better ordering one from Costco and having it at home for a much cheaper price. Overall, I would recommend this place for a brunch or drinks to take in the view but can not in good conscience recommend Pamela's due to the mediocre food quality vs the price one is being charged. Secondarily, there is nothing extraordinary about the food, the flavor, the taste or the preparation. This is a solid 2 star restaurant and there are certainly better places to take one's hard earned dollar and time to enjoy a meal. read more

I don't expect to have to wait at the host/hostess stand for several minutes to be acknowledged when there was literally almost as much staff as there were people in the restaurant (unless I'm somewhere like Village In ). Once we were acknowledged we were immediately seated with menus. Our waiter, Ivan, was very pleasant, but the service was slow. We had to wait a while for our drinks, both coffee & one cocktail. Some of the things asked for were forgotten, & then we had to wait. I had the Denver Omelette, which was delicious. My husband had the bacon & eggs, & the egg portion was extremely generous, but the bacon was slightly burnt. Both my boys had the breakfast burritos, which were supposed to come with green chili, but did not. I had to ask about the green chili, and after a while was told they were out. All & all the food was pretty good. Loved the ambiance, and the fact there was no loud music or screaming kids. The restaurant is fairly new, so I hope they get their service dialed in. Although the entire staff was very pleasant, I expect better service at this type of establishment. I will try it again. read more

We took our family of five and the two entrees we chose for breakfast were a joke for the price. The eggs Benedict came on two of the smallest and deflated English muffins and the hollandaise was minimal and watered down. The omelet was small and dry. Two of our boys had kids burgers and they were massive and they enjoyed those. Our other son had the breakfast burrito and it looked delicious. My wife and I went to Pamala's for our anniversary. I wish I could say something good about our experience but I can't. The service was slow, taking long to get drinks and bread. None of the three food items we ordered (Polaris salad, mac and cheese, and rib eye) were good. The salad was brought without dressing (a slow process to get dressing delivered), the mac and cheese was in a small cup and very bland, and the $49 ribeye was thin and tough with the sauce that tasted like brown gravy from a can. To top it off, we asked for a dessert menu after dinner and after waiting 10 minutes, we were given our bill without getting a menu. It was obvious the staff wasn't well trained and was not enjoying being there. While the decor is nice, the overall experience was very disappointing and not close to being worth the $125 meal. read more

The venue is great; very attractive and comfortable. Unable to locate "accessible parking" or valet, but was directed around to the back of the building to an employee lot. Improved signage would help. NOT handicapped or "senior friendly". Pamela's is fairly expensive and dining is worth the price; the staff is friendly and solicitous but could use some coaching. The overall experience remains uneven; equivalent restaurants in "The Springs" do it better. Looks like more of a "management issue"; but we'll be back. read more
