We had breakfast here before heading to ride the cog at pikes peak! We arrived just in time. Once we were seated the place started getting so busy! There were tons of people waiting. We ordered and got our food in a normal timely manor. The food was good, it was hot and fresh. I personally didn't like the deli ham that came with my order. Wasn't anything wrong with it, I just would have preferred something different (which is on me). The strawberry lemonade was excellent. The server was real nice. They were very busy so she didn't check in on us a ton but that doesn't bother me. She made sure we had everything we needed and if our food was fine. My cup was full and that's all good for me! One of my favorite breakfast spot to come to when I am in the woodland park area of Colorado. This is a very friendly environment, staff is incredible and the food is very good and reasonably priced! Parking is limited as the town has grown around this establishment but worth finding a spot. read more

They specialize in breakfast, but they also have a decent lunch menu. I had the country version of a French dip. I ordered a roast beef sandwich, with swiss cheese served on a bun, with brown gravy to dip it in. It's fine, but nothing to write home about. The ambiance is whimsical bear themed, and it works. The restaurant is crazy busy and it can get very cramped in their tiny waiting area. Parking can be a.... wait for it...a bear. Such amazing food! I had the Cindy Lou breakfast plate which was phenomenal, it has eggs hashbrowns, ham , topped with sausage gravy. We also got an egg , cheese , sausage omelette which was delicious as well. The pancakes are delicious and definitely worth getting. The service was very nice. They have a sign saying that they are understaff and wait times might be long but honestly we didn't have any issue. It's a great breakfast place with a nice atmosphere. This is a solid local breakfast place. I had the Cindy Lou and it was tasty. With breakfast dishes that have gravy, it makes them or breaks them, and I was good with their version. Trish was our server, and not only was her picture on the wall next to our table, but she was energetic and extremely efficient. She has been there 27 years, and I hope you have the good luck of her serving you. Bears line the walls, and even better that we saw a local bear the day before. Looked for a place that hopefully provided something reliable for breakfast. We weren't let down. The restaurant was covered with bears everywhere from cute to cuddly. The place was busy but we were seated a few minutes after arriving. Ordered the pancake to try and it was big and tasted great. The French toast had an unexpected slight crunch that wasn't over cooked but worked so well with the bread. The sides were cooked well and tasted good. They did not skimp out on the burrito fillings. Mixed with the green chili it was a good breakfast burrito. Our server Marie was wonderful. She was friendly and knowledgeable and her service was the best. Overall a great breakfast spot. read more

First, for the price is ridiculous and second, when I got it, was served on a hotdog bun with, I'm not exaggerating about 10 fries, and it cost almost 17 dollars. This is a big NO, NO. Busy place and the seating feels a bit crowded but I can overlook that for the delicious food. The walls are covered with bear and visitors pictures as well as some visitors comments, we found it pretty neat. I had "the dream" with the biscuits and pepper gravy (highly recommend it was delicious) with eggs over medium and ham. We went for breakfast on our way though town, it was fairly busy. You add yourself to the list and they call you when it your turn. We waited about 20 minutes for our party of 4. Once we sat down it took a very long time for the server to come, she called over and apologized after a bit. We ordered everything, drinks and food at that time. We got our coffee right away and sadly, it was the worst coffee we have all ever had. It was SO watered down. We waited for our food, it came out in batches and when they brought extra food we didn't order the server was making comments like "what wrong with me today." And you could tell she had too many tables and was overwhelmed. I saw the sign on the way in about being understaffed and it was very apparent. The whole bear theme is cute, a little over the top in places. My son enjoyed spinning the wheel at the end (since we spent over $50.) next time we come through Woodland Park we may explore other options but we're glad we gave them a try. read more

We happened to stop here last minute to grab a bite to eat. There was a list of people ahead of us, so we grabbed a pager and went to the bookstore next door, which was very cute and worth a visit. Our pager went off fast and we were quickly seated. The atmosphere has so much to look at and the noise level is what you would expect from a diner. Came here for an early lunch on a Sunday after an adventure ride on a dirt bike. We've passed by this place a couple times but, it's always been super busy--this time, we had some time and a very tolerable wait (25 minutes). Very Covid compliant -- table spacing and masks required. There was a very kind, helpful gal in the front parking lot that was helping directing people/getting them set up with getting their name on the wait list. We sat down inside (party of 4) and the server was super kind and quick. She took our order (I ordered the burger and onion rings-- very tasty, especially the onion rings as they were light and airy) and with not too much a wait time, our food came out promptly JUST as we all ordered. First time to this iconic restaurant (decorated with bear theme), the Hungry Bear located on main street in Woodland Park, Colorado.  The restaurant seems to be a favorite around this mountain town, as the small parking lot is always full with a line of people waiting.  Visited early on a Sunday morning, which we were able to gain a table for two right away, but dining room filled quickly with a wait list following. The front staff and servers were all very friendly, and work efficiently together to service the tables.  The menu was full of comfort food options for breakfast and lunch.  Coffee and water were brought quickly to the table, followed by our ordering of food.  Timing of food service was on point, and delivered hot to the table.  Chicken fried steak and eggs were fairly standard for most places, but the side pancakes were light and fluffy, and a meal in itself.  (Special note: the sugar free syrup was served in a warmed bottle, nice touch!)  The Chicken and Green Chili Omlette was large, with a minimal amount of chicken smothered with their version of green chili (more like combo of Colorado green chili and red chili).  Overall, the food was good and the staff friendly and accommodating.  After this first visit, and knowing better the menu and food selection, we would return for a nice comfort food breakfast. Tips for your visit: Go early, or plan on a wait.  Food wise, whatever you order, choose pancakes as your side or full breakfast, and for any Omlette consider adding on fresh veggies or cheese if not included to spruce up the eggs. read more
