My fiancé and I like to go to Benny's on Sundays for brunch each week. Although the service is never outstanding, the food and prices are pretty good. However, the past couple times we tried to go, we were seated and never approached for over 30 minutes. Seeing others sat, served, pay, and leave before we get anything is frustrating. Although generally nice in attitude, the waiters do not seem to know or keep up with their sections. This will unfortunately be our last time eating here as we will hope to find an establishment with better service. Edit: we received our food an hour later and everything was cold. read more

First timer here. Have looked up this place many times but always chose another place to eat and finally came in yesterday with my husband and sons. It was around noon on a thursday and it didn't look busy which was fine by me since we were seated right away. Waitress came and took our drinks order and gave us a few more minutes as we were still deciding on what to get. My husband and boys ordered a dish each and I just munched off of them as I wasn't that hungry and I get to try all the dishes. My husband ordered the Florentine Benedict- Freshly sliced tomatoes and spinach, covered with hollandaise sauce. I thought it was good. It had the right amount of hollandaise sauce and the eggs were cooked perfect for me. Only slight bad thing was that the muffin was over cooked or something. I couldn't cut it with the knife. My husband picked it up and bit it. One of my son ordered the Denver Omelette with pancakes - diced ham with bell peppers and onions, topped with Monterrey Jack and Cheddar cheese. He subbed the ham for sausages. He didn't like it to much because he said he couldn't taste the sausages and it was just bell peppers and onions. He did say he liked the pancakes and I have to agree as I take half of one of the pancakes. My other son ordered the Bacado with toast - Crumbled bacon with fresh spinach and diced tomatoes, sliced avocados In Monterey jack and cheddar cheese and Monterey jack and cheddar cheese. He liked it and said it was good. I ate his toast and it good. It wasn't under or over toasted. Overall it was a good experience and their portions were pretty decent. The price was fair as well. It was just ok. The food was either flavorless or didn't taste good. Not sure how that's done with breakfast. You could tell the bacon was cooked much earlier and wasn't great. My kids wouldn't even eat it. My hash browns were over cooked. The restaurant has a saloon door to the kitchen that they weren't using. Instead, servers were coming out by the bathrooms with food. Hash browns were as expected, a bit heavy handed on the oil but I did order crispy so you gotta have some oil. They were tasty and coffee was hot. Emily was very attentive and offered to refill cup several times. I saw no slowness or inattentiveness at any time even though they are closing in a few minutes. Never felt rushed. As we explore the area for 'good eats', we tried Benny's for the first time. Coming in the door we both picked up on a smell of rotten eggs. Couldn't tell if it was sanitizer, a water smell or what but our senses got use to it shortly after we sat down. I had a meat omelette and my wife had an Olympic omelette. Fillings were very generous but they were on the outside of the omelette, not folded in. The taste was still very good. We don't eat carbs so I was able to score a side of bacon without the usual extra charge. Service was good and attentive; food came quickly. Give it a try and let us know how it goes. read more

Quick and friendly service here at Benny's Cafe! I was hopeful but a little disappointed. It wasn't a busy morning there at Benny's, maybe two other parties of two sitting in the cafe. I ordered from the Benny's Favorites: The biscuits and gravy combo. Unfortunately the biscuits were dry, the gravy was already cold and coagulated by the time it made it to my table. My husband and I visited for the first time on Saturday morning (7/6/19). We had a pleasant experience, with a few minor hiccups. I had the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict and my hubby had a chorizo omelet with a side of sausage patties and pancakes. The crab cakes were obviously frozen and deep fried, but the meal itself wasn't bad. I guess the fact that I love the Hash House A Go Go's Crab Benedict, which is served with super huge fresh crab cakes, and kept comparing them to this dish didn't help. So, having had the Hash House crab benedict twice before, I would say Benny's is not even close. But, judging Benny's crab cake eggs Benedict on it's own, it's not bad. I actually would have it again, considering the price is much lower. My husband said his omelet was good, but not amazing, but the sausage and pancakes were good. Also, I had ordered a side of fruit for $1 with my meal, but the fruit came out nearly frozen and not fresh. The server brought new side dish of fruit and they were just as before - nearly frozen. They also originally charged me the full price for a side of fruit, but corrected after I pointed out the note on the menu. This is why this is a 4 star review. read more

My first visit to this place (tucked in the corner near Walmart). When I went in, I was plesantly greeted by the staff and notice at first glance of this nice, clean and friendly place. We sat and along with the menu, the wait staff asked if we wanted coffee (and the coffee was the bomb!!). We had our coffee mug filled right as we sat (which I loved). We looked at the menu and ordered and within reasonable wait time was our deliciously prepared meal. We both enjoyed the meal and the coffee mug was refilled several times before we left. Super friendly staff! We came in around 11 on a monday and were seated and served immediately. Our food came out very quickly and was nice and hot! Only critique of the omelet is it lacked seasoning. But overall cooked well. Some of the best hash browns I've ever had. Crispy on the outside and not undercooked on the inside. I usually hesitate in ordering them because they're not cooked right. I would go back here for the hash browns. I was really looking forward to the pancakes, they were disappointing. What a great place! Amazing Pancakes, the best pancakes anywhere! The kids menu Pancakes were huge! Not to mention a big hit. They put vanilla and other spices in the Pancakes which makes them truly unique and memorable. I had the chicken salad sandwich and Swiss on grilled sourdough bread with fries. The sandwich and fries were excellent. We also ordered the Greek Wrap, also excellent. Overall a great meal and great service. I had heard good stuff about this little place and finding myself with an hour to kill between showings, I decided to head here. It was just a little after 10 and they weren't busy. I opted for the Hash Skillet, with visions of grilled corn beef hash and asked for poached eggs, envisioning those puffy little eggs yielding a nice runny yolk to spill down on the corned beef and potatoes. In reality, what I got were 3 hard boiled eggs on top of dry potatoes and a very mushy "out of a can" type hash. I was asked how my meal was and I explained to her the problem with the eggs and they did offer to get me more eggs but I didn't have the time. But I explained that the cook needs to know. Another waitress came by and asked and I told her too, and she said "oh, you wanted it poached medium". Ummm, I wasn't ever offered a choice when I ordered. So I ate my barely toasted sourdough toast which I asked for with butter (I got it dry with one small butter packet), and made it more palatable with my childhood fondness of grape jelly. I called in an order to be picked up. They said no problem it would take about 20 minutes. I showed up 25 minutes later and they said it would be a little longer. No problem, they were busy. 30 minutes later I asked the older woman seating people to just give me a refund and I would be on my way. One of the waitresses heard me and asked me to please give her another few minutes. About 5 minutes later one of the waiters came and got a to go bag off the counter, that had been there since I was, and took it to the kitchen. In just a few more minutes my order was ready. When I got it home it was very cold. Hmmm, could that have been my order on the counter all along? My wife got the crab cake benedict and I got the Bacado omelette. Both were sub-par. Checked out this "local gem" and left thoroughly disappointed. We arrived early for breakfast (7am) on 4/22. The host took our order and the food wasn't ready even by 8am. We had to leave and asked they make it "To-Go". On returning home, one of the orders was totally wrong. Instead of Chicken Fried Chicken, they gave us Chicken Fried Steak. We called up the host, who offered to refund the wrong order. We never got our money back. Will keep away from this shady business. read more

So disappointed at our Benny's experience today! We've been here many times, most experiences were good, but today very much was not. The restaurant was crowded, no big deal, we expect that getting weekend brunch, but tables were getting sat before us who came in after. In addition, once we were sat, tables sat after us were getting their food before us. Add to that, waiters would refill coffee and water for their sections only, walking right past tables needing drink refills over and over again. A huge no-no! It took 45 minutes for our food to come out. The pancakes didn't come out with syrup, and one of our breakfasts didn't come out with the toast. My wife ordered the Steak and Eggs, a ribeye, medium rare. It came out well done. We sent it back (something I never do, but we were super frustrated) and steak number 2 was also well done! Sent it back AGAIN and the third came out cooked ok, but it was a very stringy and chewy cut of meat. Although the third steak was hot, the eggs and potatoes were cold, meaning they gave her a fresh steak but the rest of the plate stayed waiting and getting cold. My wife barely got through half of it before giving up. After speaking to the very polite and apologetic manager, she said she'd take care of the steak, but ultimately only took off half price on that dish. Actually took $7 off of a $15.99 breakfast that wasn't eaten. I have nearly 20 years experience in the restaurant business and the right move after ALL of the issues would have been to at least take off 1/2 of the entire bill. I would have given this a single star, but bumped it up to a two because of the partial discount. Sadly, this will be our last trip to Benny's. read more

Airy interior with great ambiance. My wife ordered an omelet, and I ordered stuffed French toast, which had cream cheese and blueberries. Very fresh and tasty. The restaurant-made cream cheese was good, but it surprised me in that it had a liquid consistency and was rather sweet. We will return. read more
