I understand that people have children but I dont want to eat with your children. I was drinks, appetizers, a fabulous meal, desserts and more drinks. I couldn't have been more disappointed with last night. Children. A mother running around the table cutting up food. A dad, oblivious. This should not be a child friendly place. The restaurant is dim lighted, quiet, and welcoming. All of the staff were friendly. Our table had baked cavatelli and lasagna dishes. As well as an order of garlic bread. The people who had lasagna said it was good but not the greatest. Seemed like it may have been heated in a microwave. But overall the flavors and sauce were all tasty. My baked cavatelli was very good. My sauce was excellent and there was plenty to use with each bite. The pasta was cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful. The other selections in the menu sounded really good, but the prices were kind of high for our taste. I had seen this place come across on Facebook on past trips but we never made it that far north. The menu on the wall and quaint space seemed inviting. We took a shot stopping here without a reservation but was happily accommodated. They do have physical menus that light up along with written in the board. We started with the garlic bread which was garlicky goodness. My husband had a Caesar salad said was out of this world. I got the lasagna that was a mix of Italian sausage and beef, very tasty. Exceptional service from start to finish. A unique touch was that the menus and bill holders were illuminated when opened. The stuffed banana peppers were among the best appetizers I've ever tasted -flavorful and cooked perfectly. The flattened, whole calamari was the best I've ever had, but later discovered we were lucky this night as it is only a special order in advance. I ordered the veal marsala medium rare, but it was initially served rare and too difficult to eat. I sent it back and the second preparation was much better. This restaurant is close to earning a five star rating from me with a couple of tweaks to kitchen execution and consistency, it has the foundation for being an outstanding dining experience. read more

I've been here several times now and I can honestly say it's great every time; down to their house Italian dressing, garlic bread and mixed drinks. They never miss. My husband usually gets whatever steak entree they have on the menu each time and always loves it. I recently had the eggplant Parmesan and I got angel hair noodles instead of the rotini noodles. Not a large establishment and some of the guests during our experience were a bit on the loud side. Service was prompt, food was excellent. Very casual, local vibe going on here. Service exceeded our expectations. The woman that helped us was phenomenal. We started with the brushetta and the fresh mutz with tomatoes. Both were fresh and very well done. More than enough to share amongst the table. We did have two orders of garlic bread as well to fill the gap. For dinner, I went with the Linguini with white clam sauce. Linguini was cooked close to al dente. Clams and sauce was very good. Evident that it was not sitting around for awhile My wife got the eggplant parm which I was able to try and that was a solid option that I could've went with as well. Our son went with the Chicken Denise and once again, I snuck a taste and equally as tasty in its own way as it was cooked in a wine based sauce. Dessert, we went with cannolis and I went with the Lemoncello marscapone mousse cake which was excellent. Especially if you're a fan of Lemoncello. There's plenty of places to eat in the area, but Benny's is without a doubt one of the best! The atmosphere is very nice without feeling too stuffy or "fancy." Our server Leanne was extraordinary! She was very friendly, helpful, and very attentive to our table's needs. The food was excellent! I ordered the scallops a la vodka and it was one of the best Italian meals I've ever had. After reading the reviews regarding Benny's Trattoria we drove from Sunset Beach, NC to North Myrtle. Being Italian from New Jersey, we truly appreciate authentic fine Italian. Benny's is a true find. Upon entering we were happily greeted and sat at the bar first for a cocktail. We enjoyed looking at the wine wall enclosed in glass a nice feature. Our bartender was very personable, and we enjoyed seeing the lite up menus for both specialty cocktails and dinning. What a GREAT idea a lite up menu. We then were seated in the main dining area with perfect lighting for a quite romantic dinner. We loved the music in the dining area of Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack as well as the beautiful mural of the Rat Pack, Marylin Monroe and Liz Talyor. Our server did an awesome job explaining the specials on the board as well as letting us know that if we didn't see something specific on the menus we wanted, they could arrange to have it cooked. We loved the fried calamari appetizer and enjoyed the garlic bread along with the house salads. Our appetizer, salads and meal were perfectly timed coming out. Our service did a wonderful job making us feel at home and not rushed at all. Our entrees were also wonderful. We are so glad we found this place only 30 minutes from our new home in Sunset Beach. The food is mediocre and overpriced. They even charged for the bread. I wondered why there weren't many people in the restaurant when we entered. Just wanted to try a new place. After I got home I noticed that they charged me for an additional entree that we did not order and did not receive. I imagine this is a con they pull on customers. Probably why there were not many people there. read more

Quaint Italian we always hit when we're in Myrtle. Delicious everything! Lasagne, sausage, meatballs, stuffed long hots, mussels (don't let a drop of that sauce. Go to waste.) both Real and chicken. Parm are delicious especially if you substitute for vodka sauce. The bread is fantastic and the food is matched by the fantastic service you get at Benny's. We were fortunate enough to sit at the bar with Carry Ann serving as our bartender and serving our food. She offered great suggestions and guidance around the menu. I quite liked the atmosphere, food and service here. We arrived shortly after opening on a Monday and were seated quickly. More people started to flow in about 5PM or just after, but it stayed quiet and never got too packed. I've never seen menus that lit up when you open them, but they have them here. Plain bread loaf is included, but we opted to pay $1.99 for garlic bread. For our meals we got the Chicken Saltimbocca and Stuffed Shells. I don't recall ever getting chicken Saltimbocca before, and have nothing to compare it to. But, I can tell you, I enjoyed it. The stuffed shells are standard fare which I've had many times and those were as good as it gets. One thing you must do is try the dessert! The snickers pie is AMAZING. And while I didn't take a photo of the limoncello cake, that too was AMAZING. Our server was very nice and attentive. She gave us a fresh loaf of garlic bread to go--no charge! We gave Benny's a try based upon good reviews for Italian restaurants and it did not disappoint. The ambience was excellent and the soft Sinatra music worked. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. We started with the fried Calamari which was ok, but too much breading on cut pieces. We had the Egg Plant Parmigiana, which was a large portion stuffed with ricotta cheese and sausage very tasty. We also had stuff Manicotti which was great, but I need to order some meat on the side to accompany the dish. The sauce for both dishes was ok, but I wish it was thicker with more of a meat flavor. Overall Benny's was a great foodie stop that you'll enjoy. read more

This place was interesting. Myself and my party of three were seated without a reservation immediately which was nice. We were handed menus that seemed very limited to us. Service was slow. It was at least 10 minutes before the server came over to ask us what we wanted to drink and another 10 before she came back to get our orders/explain the menu. After waiting for 20 minutes, we had all decided on something from the limited special menu but were confused when we saw dishes that didn't appear to be on the menu being delivered to nearby tables. The server then explained that the menus we were given were just the nightly specials and that they could do any typical Italian dish. I've dined all over the country and have never been to a restaurant like this. How am I supposed to know all the intricacies of the menu? I like to know EXACTLY what I'm ordering. For example, my favorite Italian dishes are vodka pasta with shrimp and a gnocchi dish; it seems silly to me to ask the server if they have a dish when making a general menu would save time and confusion for the patrons and skip the unnecessary communication. None of the specials really jumped out at me and I was kinda turned off. After learning more about the menu, we ordered a round of cocktails and decided to order classic Italian instead of the specials. Well, in the time between ordering our cocktail and ordering our food, we got a text from a friend that was at a different restaurant and wanted us to come there. So, we never even ordered food and just drank our cocktails and left. After telling our server we were leaving and wanted to close our check, it took another 15 minutes before bringing the check and actually running the cards. I can't imagine how long we would've been waiting on food or refills, had we ordered meals. My drink was good, but I don't know that I would return here for dinner, I would probably just sit at the bar. read more

This place "rocked it". I called for a reservation the day of and they were busy but able to accommodate us. We arrived on time but had to wait and judging from the happy people all around us, we were willing to wait. The wait staff was a well coordinated "machine"! Our waitress was very professional but a couple times we almost got her to crack a smile. We could tell there were some specialties and everyone in the place was there because they were familiar with this establishment. It was our first time and we were there due to a recommendation from a co-worker of my husband's. They did not disappoint!!!! She coached us a little bit without blowing her professional tone. I LOVED her!!! I had stuffed shells and they were amazing. My friend had clams and linguine. The menu is hand written on a black board and I am sure it varies based on the local seafood selections. We had amazingly delicious salads and pasta. They served wonderful wine by the glass and by the bottle. It was a very small but comfortable place. The ambiance was like you were in someone's home in Little Italy NYC. I loved it and later found out the owner is from our own area of Ohio. Never would've guessed! My family had an absolutely delicious meal here and we would recommend a stop here to anyone looking for a nice dinner experience. The interior of the restaurant was pleasant, welcoming, and comfortable, and we were met with the smell of delicious Italian food upon entry. The staff were professional and attentive and we never had to ask for anything, they had the timing just right. They have nice wine offerings and their house Pinot Noir was noticeably good. I rarely find myself questioning the wine I'm drinking because they typically don't make me turn my head, but what they served had everyone impressed at the table. The salad served with our pasta had just the right amount of dressing and was also, very good. Our table had a serving of the mussels and clam linguini in white sauce and the same in red sauce, as well as bolognese which reminded us of meals we've had in nice restaurants in Italy. Our plates were empty at the conclusion of our meal and we left in good spirits and with happy bellies, satisfied and content with a nice night out. Overall it was well done. Blonde bartender welcomed us as soon as we walked in and was so kind to take a photo of my husband and I before we left! We had 7p reservations and our first course arrived at 7:09!
