Nothing special about this place. Food has no flavor except for soy sauce and oysters sauce. We ordered House special chow fan, beef broccoli, and spicy shrimp and everything was soaking in just two flavors "soy sauce and oyster sauce" . We end up throwing the rest of the food. This long standing mom & pop establishment is fantastic. They still serve quality, delicious food, all the while still keeping prices down compared to most places these days, It is a very small place, could be labeled a "hole in the wall", but it still has enough seating for a slightly over a half dozen people or so. Not overly decorated at all, I think there was a few Chinese items placed mainly up front. Their food is all served in to go containers, so if you do say want to eat there and need extra plates, request some Styrofoam containers to eat out of. In a sense, this might categorize this place as more geared as a take out eatery. But however you do it, it's worth it. Another thing I like about this place is that it offers not only lunch specials that end at 4pm, they also have a dinner special menu as well. For a slightly higher price, you still get the extras of a special, despite whatever hour you might decide to try them. Generally I would categorize the food as leaning towards traditional Cantonese style, which is one of my favorites- despite the more plentiful Mandarin type eateries around these days. Again, despite this being more geared as a take out restaurant, the taste of the food is about the same if not better than some Chinese sit down establishments with better decor. First time there, looked clean. Nice couple. I ordered a dinner special: shrimp in lobster sauce. Did not taste authentic and peas and carrots tasted like they were not cooked well. The lobster sauce needed more taste to it. Shrimp texture was fine. The soup was not that good and I did not finish it. The eggroll was very good . The fortune cookie was hard and seemed old or maybe expired. I will try it one more time and order the beef and broccoli. Walked in towards closing time. The lady that took my order may be the owner and she was nice. I ordered a Mongolian Beef dinner combo and Ben's noodle soup. The beef was more like a pepper beef with a lot of onions. It didn't taste bad, it was more of a peppered steak style beef than Mongolian. The soup was good. It came with a decent amount of protein. However, the noodles had more of an over cooked spaghetti noodle texture. I prefer egg noodles but don't believe it was on the menu. Would I order from there again, maybe, just to give other items a shot. It's your typical Chinese takeout, didn't get a taste of any authenticity or it's own flavor to say this is Ben's Chinese food. I would patronize the business but not the first place to run to and get my fix. Oh ya, the prices are very fair considering the current conditions of business trying to hike prices. Absolutely DISGUSTING! Everything is beyond bland and tasteless. I bet a frozen bag of chow mein would have been more edible than this. 45 minutes after eating the food, my grandma ran to the bathroom and hasn't stopped throwing up since. The chicken, beef, and shrimp were rubbery and tasted very off/ bad. The snow pea beef entree came with a half portion of rice (which is not stated on the menu and is false advertisement) there were literally 6 nickel sized pieces of beef and a mountain of rice covering most of the container. I wouldn't eat here again if someone paid me to. Thanks for wasting my hard earned money, and for the food poisoning your atrocious food has caused. I cannot wait for the day you go out of business.. please do everyone the favor! Also, they are very sneaky when it comes to credit card payment... on the card reader it is pre set to a 15 percent tip.. and gives you a hard time when you try to change it on the machine. Ben's Chinese Food is easily one of the most underrated Chinese fast food restaurants in Bellflower. Sure you have to order and wait for the food to be cooked rather than having it laid out to pick but I haven't had a bad order yet and it's refreshing to know you're getting food freshly cooked as you can see the food being prepared in the kitchen from the register. You can also call in your order to save time. I've ordered multiple things here but a go to is the Ben's fried rice which is just your typical combination fried rice. It doesn't differentiate from others however it does taste fresh and if you ask, they'll smother it with the sauce used for beef broccoli. Delicious! Very pleased with my first visit to Ben's. I came in with an open mind and not expecting a Panda experience. I ordered an Orange Chicken meal. Took it home and was amazed at the amount of food I received. The chicken was served on top of the sauce preventing it from becoming soggy. Each piece was chicken with breading. Not the other way around... This was the first time I ate Orange Chicken that actually tasted like chicken.
