BBQ Pork- Bland, Most all Fat w/ nerves & artery/vein. It's drenched in grease pooled in the bottom & leaks out. Don't get BBQ Pork!
    Kalikela S.

The BBQ Pork is Bland, Fat, with veins/arteries pooled with grease. Disgusting (see pic.) The Kung Pao Chicken is 80% Celery and Bell Peppers! Hardly any protein. This beens happening several times we visited here. Food recipes have changed a LOT. Try somewhere else.

Food: 6/10 Service: 9/10 Ambiance: 6/10 For all the hype surrounding this place, I must say I was expecting the food to be better. Can't deny the portion size is huge though, but I would rather quality over quantity.

Shrimp with broccoli in a savory sauce with carrots and cabbage
    Maryann A.

Ordered the shrimp with broccoli, they make it fresh. Came with exactly 6 shrimp, Large clumps of broccoli, some thinly sliced carrots, and cabbage in a salty sauce. It accompanied my 1 item white rice nicely since I just wanted a snack before shopping. For me personally, it was enough to take leftovers home. It was savory and fresh since it was made to order. I ordered it with a bottled water and it came out to $14+. I'll come again and bring the hubby next time.

    Hair in my food

As I was eating my food that my daughter brought for me, which was fried rice, vegetables, orange and teriyaki chicken. As I started eating it, I pulled out a LONG ASS PIECE OF HAIR from my plate. I am so hurt and disappointed. They all NEED TO BE WEARING HAIR NEATS AS THE SERVE THE FOOD TO THE CUSTOMERS. That is so nasty and now I had to throw my whole $13 plate in the trash. The bad part about it to is that I can't call and complaint because it's closed. I hope they do something about this because it would be very bad to see heath inspectors do something about it.

This place use to be really good. I came in tonight 3/18/25 to get dinner for my dad and I, I live way in Long Beach and while my dad was eating, he came across a very long strand of hair in his vegetables, and I am very disappointed in my food, because I I'm getting nothing but gristle not only in my orange chicken, but my bbq pork. The beef to the beef and broccoli is very dry. I don't think I will be coming back

I've been coming here for years, and I am just now writing this review. This place is very good, and I like the fact that they give you great portions, unlike this one place I know **Cough Cough** Panda Express! I think the people that complain about lack of flavor in these reviews are so used to the high sodium Chinese food places that are out there that when they try this place, they are disappointed. As a general rule, I try to stay away from high sodium foods and use salt sparingly in my own personal cooking at home. That is probably why I actually am able to taste food for what it is, rather than the high salt content that most people are used to. This place, in my opinion, has good flavors. The only thing I do come across all the time is an issue on how they cook their beef. They are so quick to make beef broccoli that you will notice the beef sauce isn't broken down to complete liquid. Instead, you will see some globs here and there as demonstrated in one of the pictures I attached. These little globs are concentrated with flavor so I can see how that could be disgusting for some people but it's not overwhelming. Still, David Ramsey would crack that whip in a heartbeat if he ever saw some crap like that come out of his kitchen, you best believe! And I made sure I posted one picture right next to the KaoWok bag as proof that I went there because you know some of these business owners be trippin trying to call Yelp and get reviews deleted and stuff. Nope, I got chu! This review is legit!

They give you a ton of food. The lines are sometimes long. But it's worth it, 1 plate can feed 3-4 people depending on how much you eat

We had two orders of slippery shrimp, kung pao chicken, eggplants with hot and spicy garlic sauce, juicy steamed dumplings, and pork fried rice. Overall, both restaurants in Chinatown and Pasadena provide great food quality. The ambience was cozy with dim lighting. Our round table had a wooden rotating tray. They have pictures of celebrities and politicians who've visited their restaurant. Service was relatively quick, but there was a 20-minute wait for the dumplings. Valet parking can get difficult when the lot gets full. A few cars entering the narrow driveway had to reverse out of the way to let others leave. The kung pao chicken was very tasty with a good amount of spice. I noticed that the slippery shrimp didn't taste as spicy as the portion from Pasadena. Reviews say that the spice is adjustable. Regardless. it tasted great as it came right off the pan. The pork fried rice was delicious with a savory flavor that didn't seem overpowering. I thought the juicy steamed dumplings were the weakest dish out of our whole order. There wasn't enough flavor and heat from the broth. I didn't try much of the eggplants, but they tasted adequate for me.

Because let me tell you... it has been a **long, long time** since I've had Chinese food that made me believe in love again. Then the food came out. The rice? STICKY...PERFECTLY STICKY!!! Perfect. MOIST, not mushy... just minding its business and being amazing. Like, where have you been all my life? Why did you let me suffer like that? And the sweet and sour pork... listen... crispy on the outside, tender on the inside... it had layers. Emotional layers. I wasn't just eating, I was healing. The Broccoli and beef...game changer. The broccoli had a fresh snap to it mmmm fresh! But what blew me away was the beef, it resembled Wagu meet. So tender so flavorful. I was sitting there, slowly munching my night away, completely unbothered, living my best life like I had just found inner peace... in a takeout container, but better, it was on a plate! At one point I literally thought, "Is this what happiness tastes like?" Because I was in full "Wok Deli" Chinese style. No passport, no jet lag, just vibes. I didn't want to leave. I considered ordering more just to stay longer like, "Don't rush me, I'm having a moment." If you've been out here struggling like I have, eating mediocre Chinese food and pretending it's okay... stop. Go here. Fix your life. 10/10. Came for food, left emotionally fulfilled.

It originally struck me as ordinary, and my expectations weren't high. But my opinion changed when I walked out. The honey walnut shrimp was excellent, and I can't wait to try the other dishes I took home. What struck me most was the fact that the woman serving the food greeted so many people with familiarity and verve. She knew people's orders, habits, attire... And this was all within the short 30 minutes I sat down to dine. It is obviously a regular place for many people. What prompted my review was that, even though yesterday had been the first time I'd been there, she treated ME like I was also a regular, sending me out the door with a stack of almond cookies I didn't order. This place isn't terribly convenient to my regular drives, but I may just become a regular, too.
