I started as a new patient in April and submitted my insurance information at intake, as requested. A week later I had a filling done. When the bill arrived, insurance had covered almost none of it, leaving me with a $657.80 balance on services that should have been substantially covered. The reason: this office is out-of-network with every insurance company. That was never disclosed to me, not at intake, not before treatment, not anywhere I could find. It's not on their website. It's not in a single review here. Their Yelp listing says they "take insurance." When I called the office to ask about it, I was told, "Everyone knows we're out-of-network" -- as if that's public knowledge somehow available nowhere in writing. Separately, X-rays were done at that first visit without the office requesting records from my previous dentist. It turned out I wasn't yet due for X-rays under my insurance's schedule, so that cost also landed entirely on me. I know it's a patient's job to verify network status, and I'll do that every time from now on. But an office that collects your insurance card at the door and never mentions it doesn't work with any insurer is leaving out something patients need to make an informed decision.

The reason you should go with Dr. Franz is because the bottom line is that he cares about his patients and is totally invested in their success. I just survived a hell of week of tooth problems and it would not have been possible without the help and flexibility of Dr. Franz. Here is my story: I was in agonizing tooth pain following treatment I had received on my teeth from another local dentist (who did not have emergency contact). It was bad and I was about to go to the emergency room. I contacted Dr. Franz in the dead of night asking for help. He was able to meet me and administer treatment and anesthesia. But it did not end there. Throughout the next week I was in and out of his office at all odd times (11pm, 5am, etc) as we tried reversing the damage. He did not have to take that much time out his life to help me, but he did. Even after receiving treatment from the third dentist he reached out to check in. I have to emphasize again that I would not have made it through this without his flexibility, patience and dedication. THANK YOU!

One time when I about to leave and I requested to keep my crown that had just been removed. The dentist told me I was not allowed to keep my own crown and that it was against the law. He became very standoffish and so I dropped it and left. Upon getting home and doing my own research. I found out that he was Incorrect, I can keep my own teeth, molars, crowns, etc. It is illegal for him or his staff to take it home. So now I will never have the matching crown from the side I already have, and was allowed to keep by another dentist. Oh, and the only reason I kept going back is because I couldn't find any availability anywhere nearby, any time soon. The women at the front desk have always been very helpful and kind. Were it not for them, I would have given this dentist office 1 star.
