We never made it to the construction phase because the estimate process was quite a challenge. [[HIGHLIGHT]]First, the estimator canceled due to light rain. When I said that I didn'[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]t mind a little rain and had already set the time aside on my calendar, he said that it was "awkward holding an umbrella and a tape measure at the same time." He said that he would come out the next day, even though I was not available to look at the project and send out an estimate that day. After a several-day delay in receiving the estimate, I received not 1 but 2 estimates, then shortly after, I received a 3rd. All three were dramatically different by thousands of dollars. All three were not what I asked for, which was literally to replace the existing wood fence on two sides of the yard. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I communicated that we would be pursuing alternative companies. Mickey from Potomac Fence is not taking responsibility for any of the damage on our property caused by the fence installation. They broke retaining wall, fenced over a large black tarp and broke a drain line with a fence post. He claims no responsibility due to the fact that he sent an email requesting a marking of unground pipes. This was not in the contract. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It took over a week to get a response and when I finally spoke with him on the phone, he was rude and condescending.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He claimed if the workers had hit the drain pipe, they would have notified us. This isn't true based on the other damages caused by the workers that they never acknowledged. We had flooding caused by the damaged drain lines. I asked Potomac Fence to cover the cost of replacing the lines and Mickey told me they absolutely would not take responsibility. And I could send a bill but he would not pay it and throw it in the trash. Unprofessional. Would not recommend. read more

It takes about 3 weeks to get your fence installed after you order it. The gentlemen who installed my fence were wonderful. They worked so hard and had it done in two days. It looks beautiful. We needed to have a secondary fence installed on our property to corral our dogs into a smaller area of the property - we've had two torn ACLs from chasing deer in the last 2 years and figured it would be cheaper to install additional fencing than repairing another dog! Potomac Fences showed up on time for the estimate, and their quote seemed very reasonable so we signed up on the spot. They managed to complete the fence within the timeframe estimated despite warning us that the weather (days of rain at the time of the quote) had been pushing their timeline back a little. They gave us notice of installation the day before, and the one worker managed to complete the fence in about and half. It would have been a day, but severe storms in the afternoon forced him to stop working and that's fine. Came back the next morning and finished up the job. We really do like the fence. It was well built and despite the fact that we were concerned that it would spoil the view of the garden from the house, the fencing actually looks great and is very pleasant to look at. We really wished we had done this years ago now. We can keep an eye on the pups when they are outside and no more busted up legs from deer chasing. Win-win experience all around. read more

I contacted Potomac Fence to fix my handle latch on my wooden fence and was told it would be $250 which is their minimum and was given a date in the future. But they just showed up without a call and just put two screws on the handle and didn't even look at the rear door which also had a issue. When I contacted the owner Mickey He wanted to charge me another $250 to fix the rear lock also. I would not use them again and they were not worth the money. They would not even talk to me and all their communication was done by email. They have no customer service and treated me very poorly. Would not recommend them at all! read more

I had a scheduled estimate today, the estimator was Dale.  Dale was extremely rude and acted as if I had wasted his time 5  minutes into the consultation. He was very unprofessional to say the least.  His energy lead me to  believe that my business was not needed. I have never interacted with a contractor to that magnitude.   I felt disrespected and I was uncomfortable with our interaction. WOW - WHAT A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE! Potomac fence did an amazing job and was on top of it from the very beginning! First off Dale their sales rep didn't just show up on time, but he was early! Dale and I walked the property. My side yard is on a bit of a hill, so I mentioned that perhaps a retaining wall should go in first. My reasoning was if you put a 6' fence 1/2 way down the hill it would appear to only be 5'. Dale mentioned doing a 7' fence instead and saving the money it would cost to do a retaining wall. by the end of the visit I was very comfortable with the process and the type of fence I would received. Two weeks later, I received a call that the permit was done and the fence was ready to install. This was 2 weeks earlier than what was discussed. The installer showed up. He was very professional, walked the property with me, and included me in decisions that needed to be made. We had our backyard fence replaced by Potomac Fence. With expected to have the fence done in approximately 4 to 5 weeks. They called and said they had a cancellation. Three days later they were at our house and then one day completely took out the old fence and installed a beautiful new fence. The two workers were efficient friendly and cooperative. By the end of the day the new fence was up it was beautiful and the entire old fence was removed with absolutely no litter left in the backyard at all. About 10 years ago, our neighbor's foot slipped on his gas pedal and he backed his car into and over our Calco fence, knocking down 2 panels. Calco would not fix it as they explained the company had changed hands and at that time, didn't have a repair crew available. I called, Potomac Fence, who were happy to do the repairs within a couple of days and at reasonable cost. This spring, I am going to extend the fence on the east side of our property and will be calling Potomac and Calco for bids. The original fence is now 15 years old and nearing the end of it's life, perhaps I will ask them for a bid on replacing it too. read more

The end product is very good, to which I give 5 stars but what a stressful fight to get there. Mickey has zero patience and zero customer service skills. He was rude to me from day one when I enquired about the installation date. When he finally called me to schedule the installation I was in a meeting and when I called him back, only 15 minutes later, he told me that all the spots were taken (apparently he must have called all new customers?). The contract said 6 to 8 weeks for installation and my fence was installed on week 13. Also, the salesperson Dale wrote on the contract the wrong size of the boards that I requested and I only realized his mistake too late, after I signed the contract. I asked Mickey if this mistake could have been rectified and his only answer was "you signed a contract", he said that a few times until he lost his patience and threatened me to take me to court. Finally, I asked them if they could help me with a coat of sealant and their answer was simply "no". Mickey is not interested in helping out customers but only in profit. Got an estimate from these guys back in late February 2021. Sent my payment in second week in March, told four weeks. Called shortly after that and told that "we will call you" . Gave my number again. Never received a call. Turns out their guy wrote down the number wrong and "the voicemail was full" when they supposedly called. Talked to Mickey last week (beginning of July) who said he was going to look up my contract and call me the same day. I gave the correct number. Never returned my call. When I called today, Mickey was rude. He refused to give me a refund when I said I was disgusted with their service. "I will call you a week out, there are several people ahead of you!" He yelled. I am easily findable in the white pages if they wanted to double check a number. I essentially have given these clowns a $600 loan for the past few months. Got a fence last week. They left the yard a total disaster (I'd had a pallet of stacked concrete blocks, which they used to stand on, presumably, and left strewn all over the yard.)
