I am still waiting for parts to be delivered to get my dishwasher fixed. The service man who came to check out my dishwasher was very kind and told me 2 weeks for the parts. It has now been 7 weeks and I've called many times. Every time I call the man answering the phone is rude and makes up excuses. I was told parts were scheduled to come in last Friday and asked for a courtesy call... I have heard nothing. I'm scared to call back because last time the worker screamed and yelled at me. Terrible customer service. Made an appointment for a repair five days in advance to make sure we could be off work and home for it on a refrigerator that isn't working in our kitchen. My wife cut out of work early and waited at home during the two hour window and nobody ever showed up. Called them and was told they left us a message but never heard back so they skipped the appointment. Neither myself or my wife received a phone call or message from them at all. John at Bensons simply told me, "I don't know what to tell you guy". They apparently don't care that people have jobs and have to schedule around this stuff. So now we will go another week without a fridge waiting for a new repairmen from somewhere other than Bensons. This is on top of a dishwasher repair that we called them out for. After being at our home over five times replacing every part they could think of, our dishwasher was never repaired and we ended up having to buy a new one after spending more than the cost for a new one with them. No apologizes, no responsibility. Avoid them at all cost. read more

I had to get a new washer. The one I had was over 25 years old. Gary Anderson was my sales associate. He was very thorough in explaining the one I had picked out. I purchased it and later found out a mistake had been made. I called and talked to Scott Benson about it; corrected it without any problem. Gary called me to apologize for the mistake. The delivery and installment men were Pierre and Jesmond. They were professional, polite, knowledgeable about the washer I bought explaining how to operate it, and friendly. Along with those 3 qualities, they were engaging and very interesting in their conversations with me. I thoroughly enjoyed them and our conversations. I have been contacting Kerry at Bensons in Bloomington for quite awhile now and the service does not get any better. I previously purchased $7,000 worth of appliances from Home Depot and really wish I had done it through Bensons, would have saved and had a better product. Kerry was polite, professional, and easy to get ahold of. If you want someone to focus on you, knows what they are talking about, and is genuinely concerned for what you need; Bensons. We had our microwave go on the fritz recently and was put in contact with Benson's as part of our home warranty. It was quite easy to contact them and schedule the repair. A wonderful young man by the name of Harley came to the repair appointment and I noticed his back was sweaty. He quickly found and fixed the issue. Very friendly and professional. I jokingly asked him if I was working him too hard. I was informed that the air was not working in his vehicle. On that day the temperature outside was in the mid to upper 90s. When I needed a new stove and refrigerator, I wanted to support a small business over a big box store. I went to Benson's in Peoria. The salesman was very helpful, and I was in and out in half an hour. I was told my appliances would be delivered in two weeks. Two weeks later they wanted to deliver them the next week, but I was going to be out of state. My delivery date was set for May 9th. I was told they would call me that morning with the delivery time. I didn't receive a call, so I called the store. I was rudely told that my appliances were not on the truck because the stove was in Bloomington. How could it have been delivered the week before if it wasn't in Peoria? I was told the next day that the stove had been in the basement but now it's gone-sold, I'm sure. The man that I was talking to said they would be delivered the following Monday. That was not an option for me because I had my old stove and refrigerator removed on the Saturday before so I could clean the floor beneath. I was so frustrated that I said I purposely went to them over a big box store. He told me he would give me a refund and I could go to the big box store. I was in disbelief. This man said my salesman would call me the next day. No call Tuesday morning so I called again. The man that was so good completing the sale, now had no solution for me except the next Monday. I was again in disbelief. Pleasing you pleases us does not mean what I thought it did. I had a ladies' brunch that I was hosting at my church in four days and no appliances to store or cook the food. I asked to have the owner call me. I was told he would leave him a post-it note. I suggested he call his cell phone and the answer was no. The next morning Scott Benson did call me. He was as rude as his employees. He let me know customer service has changed in recent years. I again said I purposely went to his small business, and he let me know that they have more business than they know what to do with. No solutions were given to me other than refunding my money. The delivery was made on May 17th and the service was good. I truly hope you continue to have more business than you know what to do with. I let people know when I have good customer service and I let people know when I have bad customer service. Pleasing you, pleases us is just a line that is used to get you in the building to spend your money. After that, customer service is no longer the same as it used to be. read more

The tech came out to see what the problem was with the washer..Damaged the front of the washer with a screw driver and putty knife. Dented and chipped the paint off. Just bought here. Had a rough time getting a call back around Christmas when, dissappointingly, the delivery date on the invoice came and went. Great appliances, good prices. But the customer service is frail. They don't mean to provide poor follow up but they are still working from an answering machine during the day that may or may not get checked. I say go here...but know you are not going to get the efficiency, unfortunately, as you do from the big box stores. To their credit...and this is important....I have heard from friends that their service if the machine breaks down the road is fabulous. So there's that. read more

Funny now the owner wants to be kind after I left a review regarding how he spoke to me and did not want to acknowledge my warranty on my refrigerator and, respond to my review about my issues with him and how rude he was. Another thing is they never once said anything about waving a 30.00 "SO CALLED WARRANTY DEDUCTIBLE" through all the unprofessional customer service displayed through yelling on the phone at ME THE CUSTOMER who purchased an appliance from their store!! And if they truly wanted me to take a picture of the broken spacer at the bottom of the refrigerator they would have said that in the beginning of the call. Bought a new refrigerator from here and have bought many appliances over the 25 years from them. I just want to say how I appreciated the care and time the delivery people were to my home. The were efficient and careful of walls and floors as they moved old refrigerator out and new one in. Cleaned up all the litter and carefully replaced front door that they had to remove in order to move refrigerators. So I highly recommend this business. Literally everyone i talked to there were co.plete assholes. They wondered why I got real shitty with them about it! Even the owner Scott is a rude pos! They said they came out and fixed my dryer! They did not! I hadn't used it for 6 months because I was out of the country. I come back and move to a new place and had to put a different cord on the dryer. Only to realize that the parts they said were replaced weren't! I then call them today to get it figured out and they won't do anything about it and keep telling me its been replaced. So after no avail. I decided to go to the better business bureau. Thankfully they are great and have absolutely no problem helping me! What bensoms did was theft. They got paid for parts and labor and didn't even replace the shit! They're beyond rude and just disrespectful. Unfortunately one of these careless acts is going to end up turning out much worse and is going to get an innocent person hurt. They could have caused a fire in my home! And from my research this isn't the first time they've been careless and could have injured someone! So if you want my full review, it will be on the bbb website along with pictures and also an official statement from another repair man (thats unbiased and not in competition with bensons) stating that the parts weren't replaced. Need service? Go elsewhere. I see someone else (whose review is currently hidden for some reason and not factored in Benson's overall rating) had a similar experience with their repair technicians. I was told my appliance needed a $200 part by a tech who knew next to nothing about appliance repair and may have intentionally misdiagnosed the issue in order to quote so high of a service price in order to entice me to buy a new appliance from them. I know their diagnosis was wrong because I bought their $200 part online for 1/4 of the cost and had it installed by someone else and it fixed absolutely nothing. Six months in, the washer starts making bad noises. 5 months and 5 service calls later from the factory service people and still no fix. In desperation, we walked into Bensons. I was scammed by Benson's. They came out to fix my refrigerator and convinced me I needed hundreds of dollars in parts only to not have the refrigerator still keep tripping off. Then they told me I would need another 800-900 in parts to fix the problem. I decided at that point to get a second opinion. The second repairman (from another company) informed me of the true problem, which had nothing to do with the refrigerator (instead it was an outlet) and we haven't had any problems with the refrigerator in six months. I was so disappointed with Benson's, that I called and spoke with the owner. He felt that they didn't do anything wrong. So buyer beware. They stand by their work regardless if it is appropriate and necessary. I spent hundreds of dollars on parts I didn't need for a problem that didn't exist. My washer, which I bought fro Benson's almost 12 years ago, started making a loud squealing sound. I stopped by Benson's at around 8:45 AM and was explaining the problem to the employee and deciding when I would be available for someone to come out to check on the washer. The service man, Steve, came out and asked if I would be home late that same morning. He was at my house by 9:45 AM and my washer was fixed by 10:30 AM. Same day service!! Can't beat that!
