Brought a friend from Colorado who wanted Texas BBQ. Vicky's employees were helpful in offering a plate special for 2 people. Ribs, brisket, sausage and 1/2 chicken and we chose cowboy beans, mac and cheese and creamed spinach. Also had some deviled eggs and buttermilk pie. Everything was YUMMY! We loved it. Portions were generous and we took some home. Counter service with a rustic and cute dining area. Very clean. Great BBQ at very reasonable prices, served by smiling, happy employees. I've only been here once. The sides were SO good. Deviled eggs and cooked banana pudding like my grandmother made were standouts. I did not care for the brisket, and I should've been clued in to the fact that it is not the sort of South/Central Texas barbecue brisket I prefer when I told the slicer I wanted moist slices and plenty of bark and he looked at me funny like he didn't know what I was talking about. The brisket is the kind that my mom made in the oven on Sundays--braised and baked, not smoked. Or if they did smoke it, it wasn't long enough and they finished it in an oven. Either way, it was pretty bland and chewy. Not my favorite. The hot links were really tough on the outside and pink on the inside, which made me think they weren't cooked so we didn't eat them. Everyone working there was super friendly, and I would absolutely go back for sides, dessert and pie but it's not a Texas-style barbecue if that's what you're looking for. read more

This place is definatley a hidden gem! My husband and I came here for the 1st time and I cant express enough how AWESOME this place is! We ordered a rack of ribs which were so juicy and fell right of the bone, hot links, amazing homeade mash potatoes & gravy, cheesy potatoes, mac N cheese (yummm), loaded potatoe salad was awesome, texas beans (husband loved them), the best jalepeno stuffed with brisket and cream cheese wrapped with bacon, texas toast, and deviled eggs! My daughter is getting married this weekend and Vicki's is doing the catering. We went here for dinner as one last quality check before 150 family and friends show up to celebrate the occasion. Man-o-man I am impressed, which is pretty tough for me as I have high standards for Texas BBQ. I went with the sliced brisket plate. It was so tender, it was difficult to keep it on the fork. The taste was very good, not dried out and plenty of it. I had the red bbq sauce, they also have a mustard based sauce however I wasn't feeling particularly adventuresome. The fries were cooked to order, skin on, perfection! A small basket was enough for me and the wife. I had the cowboy beans as my second side. They were pretty good however don't confuse them for bbq beans, there is no bbq sauce in them that I could tell, there were some nice chunks of meat. My wife is a rib fan and she was very impressed. She went with the 4 pork rib plate. Tender, flavorful, tasty - everything you could ever ask for. She's not a big fan of really spicy sauces and she liked the red sauce that came with it. For her sides, fried okra - fresh, crisp, hot, not overcooked or mushy. Served with some ranch sauce for dipping. The green beans were also fresh, not overcooked, very happy. Our son-in-law to be sent for the ribs, mashed potatoes and gravy. You gotta like the attention to detail, they put gravy on the plate, add the potatoes and then more gravy. The gravy might have been a bit salty. Yes, he had two sides of them and ate them both happily. He agreed with the wife, some of the best ribs yet and that is over a very large number of ribs from several places. Our daughter went with the brisket, Mac and cheese and potatoes. She enjoyed it all, themac and cheese was good although not as special as the brisket. We finished off with some pie. These are mostly buttermilk pies. So forget the syrupy sweet and thick pies you may think of and replace it with a lighter, very flavorful alternative without the heaviness. The buttermilk pie, coconut buttermilk pie and apple pies are all very tasty. We had eaten a lot by now however we didn't want to leave anything to chance and these did not disappoint. I'm hosting a gathering for my family that's coming in from out of town on the day after the wedding and I'm happy to say that Vicki's will be catering that as well. The Que just can't be beat. The place is comfortable, clean and well decorated. It's unusual to get to meet the owner at these places however we did get to meet with Vicky and she is friendly, had some excellent suggestions for the next day catering and some of the best prices I could have hoped for. This is a great place to eat in or stop at to grab some food for everyone back out at the lake, I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

Loved the atmosphere of this place every bit of it says small town. The service was terrific and everyone was so very nice. I had the turkey and sausage and the turkey was good but before I say anything about the sausage I will say they have several kinds of sausage I had the beef jalapeno and cheese, it was just dried out and portion sizes were very small, the sides were very bland no flavor I expected a bit more from what I was told about this place. Now this being said I seen some home made pies that looked delicious but I didn't get any at this time. Now when your a bbq joint in Texas I was flavor and juicy not overcooked meat but I will give it one more shot, I was told that I just had a bad experience that it's better than what I put out, I can only tell you about my experience here. I will put another review when and if I do give it another go. Note: the mustard bbq sauce is fantastic I will give the that. It was the worst BBQ I have ever had, the chicken seamed to be spoiled and had a very off smell, Brisket was several days old and the ribs were too hard to eat. $60 for three to eat, or not eat for that matter! It was a disappointment. I would never come back, I'm sorry....... and I always give the credit where it is do, but this was really the worst food I have had.
