I made an appointment at the Clifton Park Petco to have our two and a half year old long-haired Chihuahua get his first professional grooming since we had been there two or three times to have his nails cut. We had always trimmed his coat ourselves. So off to Petco we went. But I had mistakenly made an appointment at PetSmart in Clifton Park! So we went to PetSmart in Clifton Park and didn't know what to expect since we had never been there before and this was the first time our dog was having this done. When we came back a few hours later our dog was the best he has ever looked! An amazing job by a young woman named Amanda. She did exactly what we asked her to do. Looks like our days of trimming Chip's nails and cutting his hair are over.

When we checked his bottom we found he had razor burn all over it! Needless to say we won't be going back. If you are an experienced groomer you know if your razor is too hot and you know if you are too close to the skin. I feel so bad knowing he was being hurt while getting groomed. He's old and special attention should have been paid to him. I know he didn't just stand there, he was probably whining and trying to move and get away. I wish I could say the service was as good as back in 2018 but without Chloe there it has really gone down hill.

They were informed our dog has been to our vet and is on medication. She is a Covid dog, so she missed out on socializing. We were approved to have an evaluation. We brought her in, and IMMEDIATELY were told (because of the 4 times she nipped last summer) that they would not evaluate her and we could be referred to a private dog trainer. Our dog has not nipped since that time and within the last 2 weeks she has been exposed to numerous people and has shown no signs of nipping. We told the lady that AND our dog went up to this "trainer" and sniffed her hand, wagged her tail and went on to explore the room; yet this woman still refused to evaluate our dog. I am very disappointed and disheartened that a place who advertises working with dogs on socializing and impulse behaviors refused to spend 5 minutes with our dog to see if she could be seen in their facility. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone!!

This saves you a ton of money. However, for hardware sized smaller than 1/4-20 you are out of luck. They also sell dog food including some high-end, quality brands (that is what brought us here). They are always having sales on tools and stuff. They have a visiting vet for your animal that comes a couple of hours a week and offers discounted vet services. They sell live animals like chickens in the spring- say what? If you need lumber or windows this isn't the place for you. If you need the stuff you might have found one time at a well stocked "General Store" though, come here!

Paperwork was not given prior to appointment and important questions were not asked at all. I had a feeling in my gut to hang around for my pups first grooming experience here and I'm glad I did. Watched the camera feed to see my dog in the back room just hanging around for 15 mins before they attempted to put him on the table. He didn't react well to being in a new unfamiliar place with strangers who barely acknowledged him. Both groomers were busy with other dogs so I'm confused as to why they took my pup back if they didn't have the time or attention for him. I was happy to walk out of here before they even got to grooming my pup. I'll make sure to do more research to find a groomer that can handle anxious pups. She sent me the money to get Miley cremated so she could come back home which is $60 for the cremation. My daughter sent $80 so she could get her nose print and fur clipping. I called her while there and told her that the clay paw print was a extra $30. She said okay and asked for that as well. My daughter sent me the $30 for Miley's clay paw print. I and my daughter paid a total of $110 for her rabbit to come home. We paid on card and left Miley with APF. We trusted APF to make sure our wishes were fulfilled and granted. I was called yesterday August 19, 2026 towards the end of day that Miley had been returned and was ready for pickup. I was unable to pick her up yesterday so I went and picked Miley up today. I arrived at APF around 12:10pm. I walked in and picked up her remains. I was looking thru the bag when I noticed that the paw print was not there. So I walked back in and addressed the issue. They made it feel like I was lying to them and went and checked the receipt and saw that I did pay for it but never got it. Then they said that they will talk with the people tomorrow when they come in and I told them no because it wasn't going to fix the issue it's not like they can do her paw print now as she is cremated. I told them I wanted a refund. They asked me my address and I told them that they could refund it how I paid for it. They said that they aren't able to do that which I found highly aggravating. So they are mailing me a paper check. If this happened to someone who had lost a child in birth and they never did their child's hand and foot print an the child was cremated the parents and family would be highly upset and emotional. This is the same thing. Some people view there animals as there kids and treat them as such. There are no words in which we can express our aggravation, hurt, and there is absolutely no way they can ever correct this for us either. I'm shaking writing this because this is something that we will never be able to look at again. When I look at my dog's paw prints, my cat paw print, I an my daughter will never be able to look at Miley's paw print.
