This is the tale of a fortuitous mistake... I made an appointment at the Clifton Park Petco to have our two and a half year old long-haired Chihuahua get his first professional grooming since we had been there two or three times to have his nails cut. We had always trimmed his coat ourselves. So off to Petco we went. But I had mistakenly made an appointment at PetSmart in Clifton Park! So we went to PetSmart in Clifton Park and didn't know what to expect since we had never been there before and this was the first time our dog was having this done. When we came back a few hours later our dog was the best he has ever looked! An amazing job by a young woman named Amanda. She did exactly what we asked her to do. We have been shopping here since 1999 and yesterday was our last time and we will shop elsewhere from here on in. Was buying a cat dish for a new member of our family and sign showed discount. Cashier rang it up and it came up full price. cashier accompanied me to display and agreed that dish was 1/2 price. cashier was unable to change price, so called manager who was rude and refused to to sell item for price from display, stating she hadn't had time to change the SKUs on the product. Obviously shopping at the Clifton Park Petsmart is not customer friendly. We never had an issue with this store until yesterday and this manager. Goodbye PetSmart! read more

We brought our 14 1/2 yr old yorkie in to be groomed. We go early and do the express so he isn't crated. When we got him back home he was scooting like crazy across our rug. When we checked his bottom we found he had razor burn all over it! Needless to say we won't be going back. If you are an experienced groomer you know if your razor is too hot and you know if you are too close to the skin. I feel so bad knowing he was being hurt while getting groomed. He's old and special attention should have been paid to him. I know he didn't just stand there, he was probably whining and trying to move and get away. I wish I could say the service was as good as back in 2018 but without Chloe there it has really gone down hill. read more

PetSmart in Clifton Park refused to groom my elderly dog that is blind in one eye. Her eye tears and I was told they didn't want to be liable if the shampoo they used caused bleeding on the skin under her eyes. I have my dog groomed every 6 weeks. This has never been an issue before with any other groomer. Is the shampoo used abrasive and causes bleeding or do they discriminate against elderly pets with disabilities and didn't want to be bothered? Don't waste your time bringing your dog to this corporate groomer. Deserves 0 stars! read more

Her name is Marian. avoid! i brought my dog in and the dog she was grooming started barking. she began yelling at the dog telling it to shut up. She then rolled her eyes and took the dog away so she could come help me. my dog was very scared and shaking. she did nothing to help calm him. then she said she would go get the person who was actually going to groom my dog. PetSmart as a whole is a very good business - have used them for over 25 years. However, they are associated with Heaven Sent Animal Rescue, a nonprofit type of organization that apparently fosters dogs and manages adoptions. I recently had the unfortunate mishap of dealing with someone on the 'committee' of this non-profit and simply appalled that PetSmart deals with such a horrible group of people. The horrible web site of this so-called non profit touts they are a christian group of people - I can attest they are absolutely the opposite. From my perspective, the group of people are only looking to make a few extra dollars on the side (from what I have learned, the non-profit brings in just under $60,000 a year) and simply don't want to give up a dog as they will not continue to collect money. Heaven Sent scrutinizes people who are willing to open their homes to a dog yet from what I have read on reviews, these foster homes neglect, abuse, and don't can about the animals - it is all about getting an extra dollar. Not sure why PetSmart would ever work with such a rip off organization. The people are awful, the adoption process is worse than what one goes through to adopt a human being, and they are simply in it for the money. I have found the whole dog adoption process to be a sham. I kept wondering why there are so many of the same dogs are in shelters week after week, month after month- now I know why. For example, need three references- I didn't even need three when I adopted my son! Don't have a fenced in yard - not good enough; crate train the dog - definitely a red flag; don't have a dog sleep in your bed - application tossed; dog is not the leader of the pack - application tossed; training of any kind - absolutely not. This is the crap I received from Heaven Sent and many others. Oh, and the best - Heaven Sent will make unannounced visits to your home to make sure you are taking 'proper' care of the dog. Are you kidding me! So, I have closed the door on PetSmart, will focus my efforts on a puppy, and will NEVER consider adopting a dog as the people who manage the organizations are simply God awful. Lastly, to drive my point home, last year I brought a trunk full of new things to the animal resuce in Saratoga - guess what - I was told to simply drop the stuff by the door - no thank you, not a hello from anyone. Wow what a mess. The only cashier was yelling for a manager so she could complain loudly about another customer in the store. Seemed annoyed that I was quietly waiting at the only open register. The manager came out and didn't tell her to stop... he was continuing the drama. Another cashier came out a few minutes later and was obviously annoyed to be doing her job. I've avoided corporate pet stores for years, my biggest complaint is being shamed for the corporate pet store sin of chosing to feed my reptiles live rodents. After years of ignoring Petsmart, I made the mistake of sticking my head in the Clifton Park location in search of a Borneo Sucker for my nano tank. Now, I know that the high school kids that are generally stuck in the fish section are generally ignorant, so the response of "I've never heard of that fish" wasn't a surprise, but what was surprising and aggravating was then being subjected to a lecture about tank overcrowding when this particular individual knew nothing of any of the species in my tank or the species I was looking to purchase. Fear not, If you're in the Clifton Park area Carter at Benson's is awesome with fish As are the staff at Eddys Aquarium though Eddys is a bit spendy. read more

I took my dog just now to get the $22 Pawdicure deal. I stood there and asked them to do the teeth cleaning like the sign says they kept refusing saying it's not covered. They didn't even clean his ears and they skipped a couple toes. Such a waste of money! I couldn't even pick his bandana they just wanted us out the door so they could talk about us because as soon as a customer walked out they would sit and talk about them while grooming my dog! I am very happy with the service and price of a recent grooming for my mini Australian Shepard. She has long hair in the back and it can cause a mess when she goes to the bathroom. The last groomer I brought her to locally gave her a baboon butt. It was horrendous. I was shocked at her grooming and lack of customer service from a well respected local groomer. PetSmart blended the hair where she goes to the bathroom so it looks good and helps with the problem. The staff was very friendly and expressed how great my dog was and how much they hope they get to groom her again. read more

So I am very annoyed. I usually take my two dogs for grooming at Petsmart. My usual groomer was on vacation when I called for an appointment on Tuesday for today. I asked the woman who took the call that I wanted to book with my groomer. She asked me to hold and then she came back and said my groomer was booked but that she would do my dogs. Today when I took my dogs, I tell her that my female dog has a small sore on her bottom that is caused by my dog dragging her bottom on the lawn and that I was washing her and applying triple antibiotic ointment. I also said that my dog might have dirt on her bottom from the scatching. I am still in the store and I get a call from the groomer who proceeds to tell me that my dog has a health issue (a UTI - infection) and that she can't groom my dog. She tells me the dog is oozing something black. I tell her it's dirt. Anyway, I left with my dog and took her to my VET only to confirm that my dog does not have a urinary tract infection and just a sore. $167 later I get an ointment that amounts to triple antibiotics. Ugh I was livid! I go back to Petsmart and tell the manager. To top it off I found out that my regular groomer was not booked! I told the manager that the groomers should not be diagnosing and that I did not appreciate the lie I was told in order to take the business away from my regular groomer. I called the VET and asked that they call Petsmart to tell them that my dog does not have a UTI! read more

I was thrilled with the knowledge of the employees at this Petsmart! I was visiting the area and went here in my down time. The store was well organized and I was greeted right as I walked in. I figured I would buy my dog some new treats. I always hesitate buying new things for my 1 year old dog, Rory, because he tends to have a sensitive stomach. There were some employees on the floor who pointed me in the correct direction of where I needed to go. The employee at the register, Gavin, ensured that the new treats I was buying would be good for my dog! He also recommended some other similar long lasting bones that would be easy on my dog's stomach. I will definitely return back if I am in the area again!! read more

I should have read the reviews for this location before taking my pup here. I have a 7 month old pug who has a puppy's energy of course. When I came back to pick him up he was damp, smelly, and was shedding everywhere! I didn't make a fuss inside as the groomers said "he didn't enjoy the blow dryer, we couldn't get him to stay still". But you're groomers? Groomers should be trained to handle any situation that is not threatening, not return the dogs to their owners halfway done! They at least trimmed his nails, which is what earned the extra star. In the end I paid $52 for the bath services/ furminator treatment, only to have to bring him home and brush/ blow dry him myself. I scheduled a grooming appointment almost a month ago for my puppy. I called the groomer and said I was running 10 min late due to a work call I was on. Kristen advised that she would not take my puppy today and I would have to reschedule. The next available appointment was another several weeks into the future. I understand late appointments are not convenient however this is the first time this happened. Secondly, 10 minutes late does not seem unreasonable. Third, my puppy has only had bath & trims. We booked him for a regular hair cut this time which is a 4hr block. It does not take 4hrs to cut a dogs hair. Therefore, I don't understand why they couldn't take him and still find time within the 4hr block to attempt his haircut. Take 10 minutes off his allotted time, perhaps?! The "could care less" attitude I received on the phone was not helping the situation either. Very disappointed in the customer service and what I see as a completely inconsiderate approach to me being 10 minutes late. I will never return to this salon. And further, I'm not shopping at Pet Smart going forward and removing my puppy from Banfield. read more

Bad service for grooming a cat. Absolutely horrendous job. Said she groomed her over an hour yet all her mattes were still present. The groomer called me and said she needed to have the mattes shaved. I've had this cat 13 years and have had her groomed/shaved plenty to know the difference between mattes that can be brushed out and mattes that need to be shaved. So then I told her to go ahead and shave those areas then. The groomer claimed this service was not available at this store (even though in July I had her shaved there) and I would have to take her to the East Greenbush or Saratoga store for the shaving. My mother picked up the cat for me and she looked like hell. There was no way the groomer even tried to brush out the knots. I was able to undo some hair easily with my fingers and pull out tons of hair. Her fur was curling because she wasn't dried properly. The only reason this gets two stars instead of one is because I called the store manager and explained my dissatisfaction. The store manager was friendly and said that they DO offer shaving of cats and didn't understand why the groomer told me different. She gladly issued a refund without any problems. For pet needs and products etc this store is fine, customer service from the manager was excellent, however, if you want grooming done I'd go elsewhere. read more

Though I've never had a bad service experience at PetSmart in relation to purchasing pet products, I decided to try the grooming services today and was less than satisfied. At first glance, my dog looked great - but with a closer look, realized that many areas on his body were VERY uneven (tail, behind, ears, feathering on legs) - his cut also looks very "choppy" - nothing is smooth. I wanted him to have a nice, fresh, and professional looking summer cut, and this certainly is not the case, even after 2.5 hours. The only positives are that he smells wonderful and his fur is now silky smooth. Unfortunately, I will be fixing all of these uneven areas because I do not trust PetSmart to do a quality job and absolutely will not be back. read more

A sweet 3 year old dog was rescued by my mom from Heaven Sent just three months ago. Heaven Sent had been showing the dog with other rescues in front of Petsmart in Clifton Park. Mocha was sick from the start despite Heaven Sent saying he was healthy. This dog was checked out by Dr. Kolmeyer at Banfield/Petsmart. She paid more than $100 for the check-up and was told the dog was healthy. The reality is that my mother's vet found stones in his kidneys when Mocha had trouble urinating very soon after the adoption. My mom spent thousands of dollars to make him well to no avail. Our family gave him a ton of love, especially my seven year old daughter. Finally, he had to be put down. This dog should never have been placed with a family. Petsmart needs to be more careful about the rescue groups they work with and the vets they employ to check them. read more

DO NOT take your dog here! Had an appointment and was told my dog would be ready for pick up in 3 1/2 hrs. 2 hrs and 45 minutes later I returned to the store to check on my 7 month old puppy. The groomer was texting while my dog was on the table 1/2 shaved. I watched from the window unnoticed as she grabbed her collar literally choking her and slammed her on the table to continue grooming her. I walked in furious confronted the groomer, her response was to ask me why I would care since it wasn't even my puppy. (My wife dropped her off earlier). Needless to say I left with my dog 1/2 groomed. It's truly disgusting the way they treated my dog and that was in front of a window. What the hell do they do in the back where the animals can not be seen? The Saratoga store is no better. I was charged 3 different prices for the same services. Once it was $21, next time $44, the 3rd time $52 at which point I requested to speak to the manager. Mind you she's a 12.5 lb maltese. read more
