What do I think about Bentley's Pet Stuff? Let me tell you! My first experience with Bentley's Pet Stuff was with the Skokie Location approximately one year ago. I received one of the friendliest customer services I've experienced. Then, I visited the Evanston location while in the area, and the staff also provided me with the same outstanding treatment. The Roger's Park location is en route to my weekly meeting appointments. I wondered if I would experience the same service as the other locations. I mean, anyone can have a bad day, right? Not these people! Annie at the Roger's Park location has been assisting me with my special needs furbaby for a couple of month now. She is knowledgeable about the products they carry and always goes the extra mile to ensure I receive the promotion the manufacturing company offers during my visits. I never felt rushed during consultation or checkout. Bentley's Pet Smart staff should be made an example of how customer service should be. They must be doing it right for their employees. Paid street parking is available in front of the store as well as free parking on neighboring resident streets for this location. If you are a pet parent, you definitely should visit. read more

My cats ran out of food so I was going to uber pick up since I can't get to the store but the staff and manager all say they've never done this and won't do it. Run don't walk! I clocked it when I was running an errand and decided to drop by. I love that it's organized and you can see everything and the prices easily. Today 4/29 and tmr they having a 20% off sale! (Some brands/ items don't apply). I got a few things to try for my puppy. I also got a little goodie bag with my purchase. This store is great! The prices are reasonable for the product quality. The staff has always been delightful. They were having a small issue with their computer and kindly gave me a discount for having to wait a little longer to check out (which I didn't ask for but certainly appreciated). I'm sad the cats aren't at the store right now, but I love stopping in when I need a few cans of quality cat food at the last second. Also, my husband accidentally spilled some bubble tea on the floor and they were incredibly kind about it. read more

If you're looking for a pet store with employees dedicated enough to shake can after can of cat food helping you judge the consistency of the contents- this is the store for you. I came in looking for new foods for my cat who has intestinal lymphoma and needs to gain weight while still being extremely picky. The shopkeeper was very kind about my situation and then didn't even bat an eye when I told him how specific I needed the food to be and he very helpfully pulled up a huge list of the calorie content of each 3oz and 5oz can. He also went through, showing me which he thought might be good and holding others right up to his ear as though listening to the ocean in a seashell. The guy was chill as hell and super helpful. I can't remember his name but he had red hair and a beard. His customer service assured that I will be going out of my way to come back to Bentley's from now on. I love this store and stop by frequently for cat litter or specialty food. The products are of high quality and the staff is knowlegable. I will make an effort to shop local and Bentley's generally makes it easy. Patrick, in particular, is always a delight with a kind word and a gentle sense of humor. I am a bit sad that the Devon location seems to have stopped selling the World's Best multicat unscented litter in the small bags. I'm disabled and can't carry the heavy bags several blocks and up the stairs. My cat has hyperthyroidism and we really need the good stuff! read more

We just rescued a pup and needed some sundries! Thankfully, Bentley's had most of everything we needed save for a few odds and ends. It's a boutique shop with caring staff! Prices seem pretty on par if not slightly less than what you'd find on Chewy, so please shop local and often! read more

I recently adopted a dog and Bentley's is now even more valuable to have so close! The employees are so nice and my pup can't leave the store without plenty of love and treats from them. This place has an amazing and knowledgeable staff. They really take their time to guide new pet adopters with finicky cats. I prefer the term adopter to owner. I adopted my daughter's cat Jaxx. I am a vegan, so having an indoor cat whose primary diet is meat was challenging. He is very lovable and a nice comfort pet. I use a wheelchair. I had recently moved and that was so stressful. The cat was shedding all over. I was sneezing. He stopped eating the food I gave him and picked over the kibble and wet food she left. He missed my daughter. I gave him probiotics. He ate one a day for a week and it helped his bowels. They kept recommending, giving me samples for him. Finally, at their recommendation and with a return policy offer again, I tried him on Primal chicken/salmon raw freeze-dried nuggets. He loves it now. read more

Went here for the first time in search of a healthier dry cat food for my 2 adult cats. The woman working asked if I needed help and I informed her of my search. She took me over to the cat food and recommended a brand that is healthy and that her cat enjoyed. She informed me that if my cats didn't like what I chose that I could always return it which is awesome because you never know with cats!! She also signed me up for the rewards program and gave me a swag bag for my kitties! Such a great experience, will definitely be back!! Been shopping at this location since they took over the space, for my two senior cats and my pet sitting clients' animals, and have nothing but good things to say. They have always been happy to help locate and discuss products in the store, as well as make special orders for products they do not carry. Joanne (the manager) especially has been consistently helpful and friendly. I will keep giving them my business as long as they are open. read more

The customer service at this place is unparalleled. We came in for the first time this afternoon to buy a single can of wet food for our new cat because we were running low and needed something for the next day or so until we make it to Costco. We came out with several free cans of food, multiple coupons, and great recommendations on cat care products. The staff is knowledgable and generous. I've been going to Bentley's for years! The staff is always warm, fun, and super knowledgeable and helpful, and really get to know their customers and pets. This store has been a walk destination with my dogs, for ages. It's a little home away from home. The store has awesome loyalty programs for various products where you buy 12 and get the 11th free, and the staff always makes sure you're getting all the perks of these programs. They patiently indulge my dogs with treats, and actively support pet adoption over pet buying by promoting local rescues and even fostering cats right in the store! read more

Hands down my favorite pet store in Chicago. They always have my dogs food in stock, are very helpful and efficient. One employee took the time to explain the benefits of raw bones to me for my dogs dental health. I then found out that my dog LOVES raw bones. I'm glad I came across an item that she enjoys that also helps her teeth. I think she also likes this location because there are usually a few cats napping in the shelves. read more

Whatever you do, don't inquire about the wrong kind of cat food at this store. I was alone with two employees and I was basically laughed out of the store when I asked for a specific item that was recommended by my vet. One employee threw up her hands, rolled her eyes, scoffed, and just walked away from me. Very nice! The second employee took over helping me, and I was repeatedly asking for recommendations of other products, but in response I was just given a condescending lecture about the first product I asked about. Over and over I tried to redirect the conversation to the products on their shelf, and over and over I received rude remarks in return. Not once did the employees actually talk to me about their products or make suggestions. Obviously if my vet is recommending products, that means I have a very sick animal at home, and I'm willing to try anything or spend any amount of money to make my pet healthy again. One would expect a level of compassion or understanding from, presumably, people who also have and love their pets.Nope! I was instantly judged to be the wrong kind of customer. It's a shame that I had such a horrible experience here. I always like to support local businesses, and since I was new to the neighborhood I was looking for a new place to buy all of my pet supplies. I felt very unwelcome, so I will not return. read more
