Both of them HATE getting their nails done and can be a bit of a challenge, but thankfully we found Abi, She is so sweet and incredibly patient with them and she is always able to get the job done even with all the hurdles they throw at her, which is very much appreciated!! Whenever I go to Pet Supply Plus on Elston, they have generally had what I needed, which is usually a special cat food (for our one cat) or birdseed for wild birds or cat cleaning products, etc. I think they have some good sales when I can catch them. The staff has always been welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable about their products. If they have too long of a line at one register, they often open another, which I appreciate. While I don't shop there often due to logistics, as I can get most of daily needs at the Target, which is just a few blocks away using my cart, a ride from a friend or same-day delivery for heavy items, there are a few things I purchase from Pet Supply Plus and I appreciate it location for those items. Before entering this retail pet shop, my Theraphosta Stirmi had ants in it's enclosure with a small abdomen. When I was in the pet shop, there was this guy stocking and had good assistance with helping me pick out the best substrate for maintaining moisture for my Theraphosta Stirmi (a moisture reliant species) and recommended moss to me. I didn't knew how important moss was until I saw my tarantula moving it when it was rehoused. My tarantula rehouse is much better and humidity is also quite easy to keep high now, I didn't knew the importance of moisture and moss for my tarantula and I am very pleased with my service from this individual. I went into this store because I recently moved to this area and I've come to this PSP several times I have to cats and two dogs and it convenient. But thanks to a supposed manager at the store named Jazmina I will not be going here again. I came in to buy a fair amount of the essentials and the attitude made me feel like a lesser being. I thought at first that maybe she was just having a bad day but then I realized that I've gotten this attitude from her before and none of the other managers treat me that way. So I hope they let her go. I will go in and talk to the other people that work there and see what I can do but I won't recommend this PSP until she is gone. I work in retail in the same neighborhood and I would hate to have to work under or with her. So I told her that other managers were kinder to me and that I would take my money somewhere else. Her comment was "good" ?! That's the attitude you give to someone when they say they will no longer shop at your store. We visit Pet Supply to use the Self-Serve wash after finding a dirty puddle yesterday. After letting the water run for approximately 10 minutes, it went from cold - freezing - cool, the ladies at the register said that was as warm as it was going to get, because they could not control the temperature of the water any more than turning the lever all the way to hot. After quickly lathering my short haired dog and watching her shiver through a rinse, I was hoping the dryer would provide some warm air to comfort her. Only did we learn the dryer was even colder than the water. So, I DO NOT recommend visiting the self-serve, unless temperatures are way above 75, as then maybe, your dog will not be so cold, and the water/dryer may warm up. read more

It is nice to see a locally owned pet shop - not a big box pet store. We should all patronize local businesses. Their selection seems to be pretty good. I took my son who needed some supplies for his cat. While I did not get a look at the whole store, they had a decent selection in the cat section. It is also pet-friendly - there were lots of people who had their dogs in the store with them. Two items made this three stars and not higher: (1) it is pricey. But, I suppose this has more to do with it being a small store who does not have the buying power of Big Box pet stores. (2) It was pretty dirty. I nice cleaning couldn't hurt. read more
