Braised Beef Shank Bento Box - simple
    Amy T.

The service was excellent! The waiter was so nice and friendly!! The place was also so clean! I love the overall interior, it does bring me back to those Taiwanese TV drama days, especially the music. The daily veggies they had was simple and lovely. The corn, cabbage, and broccoli was delicious (both bentos had them). The Beef Shank Bento was simple and good. 3/5 The Chicken Drum Bento was crispy and a little bit salty but paired with the veggies - pretty good! I opted for the bone out (which is nice because I didn't want to deal with the bone today). The chicken was cooked just right. 4/5 The Shrimp Omelette was very delicious. 4/5 Some people might not like the texture, if you are a texture person, you might not enjoy this. I thought it was pretty good. The shrimp was cooked just right, bouncy and had a snap on it. The sauce on that omelet was so good

Classic Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup! The beef melted in my mouth because it was so tender!

I have been here before and enjoyed the food to go. This time, I decided to dine in, and boy, was I glad that I did. I wanted noodle and soup, so I decided on the Traditional Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup. It's one of the best beef bowls that I have had in a long time! I also got the Taiwanese Nuggets and the Squid balls, and both were equally delicious! Hence, I had to order the pork minced beef rice to go and save that for dinner! 5 stars for one of the best Taiwanese foods that I have had in a long time. I was slurping away, and the girls were laughing at me. I'm not gonna apologize for enjoying my food, lol. I will be back for more! Come and try it if you dare to travel this far from Dawsonville!

Bento cafe has been around for a lonnnng time and I hope it will be around forever! They have such hearty meals, appetizers, and drinks. All of their food is super authentic as well. We got the grilled pork chop rice, pan fried fish fillet rice, fried radish cake and tofu beancurd. I loved everything and this my go to meal every single time. Even though their other items are just as good as well! The tofu bean curd is a cold appetizer dish with thin slices of tofu topped with a savory sauce and one lots of green onion. The fried radish cakes are always good and if you ask for it spicy, it will really be spicy! The pan fried fish fillet was so good! It also came with an assortment of vegetables like beansprout, bamboo shoots, corn and pickled vegetable. The pork was also just as good. The service here is also fast and efficient. I feel like they are more takeout based but even dining in, the cashier came to check on us and refilled our waters. Overall, this place just always hits the spot and I will come back a million times (and get the same thing lol).

Now I see what the hype is about and how it's lasted over the new restaurants over the years!! I've seen Bento Cafe here for years and I've never wanted to try Bc I don't crave bento boxes. For some reason when I think bento boxes it's like the typical Japanese boxes but finally I realized that this just is not the case! I would say this is like a twist on Taiwanese Street Food with sit down restaurant setting. FOOD:: *Bento Pork Chop - you may choose grilled or fried comes with pork over rice and 4 sides including: corn, thinly sliced cabbage, thinly sliced radish, and some sour veggie. It tasted pretty great. I loved the pork over rice the most. Corn was sweet, and the pork chop was very juicy. However it did not have much dept of flavor about it tho. *bento fried chicken leg - the chicken was soooo pretty, golden brown skin, fried to perfection. Came with the same sides * Spicy Chicken Nuggets- sooo good!!!! Generous portions and seems like they just throw Cayenne on top to make it spicy. I think they're using dark meat to make these SERVICE:: Needs improvement, the girl that served us kept referring and pointing to the menu to answer my questions. I'm saying if I gotta keep referring back to the menu to get my questions answered why are you here??? When you know already and can't just tell me ??? It really rubbed me the wrong way. Other than that service was decent but why not smile or pretend like you care if I come back or not Anyways ... food was good and this is a popular spot among all my friends

So I went back a third time, because of course I did...everything I tried this time ranged from really good to fantastic. I had the beef noodle soup, the basil fried rice, and the steam rice cake. Steam rice cake - this was really good. I wasn't sure what sort of rice cake it would be, it was a type of blood pudding which I probably wouldn't have gotten but I'm glad I did because apparently I actually like blood pudding. Really nice texture with the rice, and sauce/seasoning was very tasty. Beef noodle soup - this was great, as well...take note, when they say spicy they do mean spicy. I ordered mild and it was still fairly spicy, though I still really enjoyed it. The beef was good cuts and the noodles were fresh and well textured, and as for the vegetables included we all know I'm a sucker for bok choi. Basil fried rice - this was...breathtaking. Incredible. Magnificent. How can one describe this? The carrots perfectly julienned, the flavor mix between them and the onions, egg and basil, the fluffiness and flavor in the rice...this is nearly at the level of the shrimp omelette for me, really. In short, Bento Cafe continues to impress. This restaurant is no one-trick pony. The basil fried rice is definitely a "must try" here.

I was one of this restaurant's first customers when they first opened....golly, probably over 15+ years ago now, give or take? Done a few reviews for them before and used to come often, but last was a few years ago when their entree prices were raised yet again and they priced themselves out of what I thought was reasonable at the time relative to other restaurants that's just as good, if not better. Because of that, I haven't been back in a few years, but they are roughly back in line now....they just started early. Anyway, that being said, I would recommend Bento again now if you are in the area! Pros and cons below are as noted today...... Pros: 1) Their stuff is more authentic than not. If you are looking for a good representation of Taiwanese snack foods and dishes, you can get a pretty good idea here. 2) Their grilled drum is amazing - if you don't know what to get, get that. It's very good. Been eating it since when they first opened and it has stayed the same tastiness. 3) Their deep fried radish cake is yum. Even better than the pan fried, which is what I usually get at dim sum. 4) The pan fried dumplings were pretty good, they did a good job crisping up the bottom. 5) Store is generally clean and the cashier/server is usually friendly. Cons: 1) There may be a wait. There was one super nice guy up front today and he did it all for the most part other than the actual cooking. Taking orders, making drinks, serving food, packing to-go orders, etc. The poor guy was literally running. He still had a great attitude however, so they found a gem in him. He can really use some help though. 2) Their pickled cucumber is just okay. It's good for cutting the grease if you get a lot of fried stuff, but just be mindful the flavor is just sweet/sour....it's missing something in it's authenticity. So just adjust expectations accordingly. 3) I wouldn't personally get their fried nuggets again. It's really rather dry on the inside instead of crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The flavor is a bit lacking too, though I can't quite pinpoint why....it LOOKS right, just doesn't taste quite right.‍ 4) I don't get my boba drinks here personally. Their toppings are an additional charge to the drinks...which is fine...BUT they are VERY frugal in their topping ratio even with the additional charge. So depending on how you like your toppings, this may not be your drink place like it isn't for me.

My s/o (lives in a different city) wanted to treat me to take out, and we discovered Bento Cafe on Ubereats. I'm not going to lie, I literally looked at this menu for over 30 minutes trying to decide what to get. I ended up with spicy fried radish cake and nuggets (better described as popcorn chicken) as an appetizer, and the fried pork chop bento for my entree (it was a special occasion, don't judge me). And man, was it great. The fried radish cake was my favorite--though it wasn't spicy at all in my opinion, the fried herbs (basil?) were really aromatic, and the combination of the crisp skin with the melt-in-your-mouth radish was amazing. The pork chop was averagely seasoned, but I loved the veggies--the sweetness of the corn and the greens (can't think of what it's called in English rn), the acidity of the pickled vegetables, and the salt of the meat sauce (under the pork chop) all came together beautifully. I definitely have a soft spot for Taiwanese food, but if that's what you're looking for too, that is what you will get here. Highly recommend.

Sometimes I really like to have Taiwaneses food especially "Night Snacks" 。(**) 。My friends recommended me to try out Bento Cafe。Then I ordered chicken drum bento, and I choose grilled chicken。The chicken is tender with daily veggies, it is very healthy and delicious。Also I ordered my favorites, one is "chicken Karaage , it is so crunchy and favorable , and other one is " Bubble Tea" OMG、Strawberry favor is LOVE ONE。

    Curry Chicken Huifan

Curry Chicken Huifan: absolutely horrible. I cook fitness meals all the time so I can tell instantly it's chicken breast. Overcooked and tough to eat. Paid almost $15 bucks for a curry that came from store-bought curry cubes w/o any highlights. You are better off try something else Chicken nuggets: very good, could be a bit more crispier. Add the chili powder if you want the kick. Basil fried rice: also pretty good. The rice could be a bit drier though, but overall it's pretty flavorful and neither soggy nor too greasy. They could also use some more seafood. Lesson learned? Try something Taiwanese, unique, and most importantly that needs to be made from scratch.

Was in the mood for boba and a quick snack. Bento Café was the closest place to me at the time. It's located in the Hong Kong Supermarket shopping center off Jimmy Carter Blvd, sandwiched between Nam Phuong and Bambu. Plenty of parking shared by all the businesses. I arrived about 20 minutes before they close for their afternoon break at 4pm. There were two other customers dining when I arrived. The place isn't huge, but they've maximaxed the use of space and have ample seating. They also have a lounge area with a couch, coffee table, and magazines by the entrance. The place was clean. I placed a to go order of iced honey green milk tea with pearls as well as mild chicken nuggets. The lady at the front got started on my drink immediately following the transaction. She gave me the option of regular, less, or more ice. I also noticed their menu offers an option for 0%, 30%, 50%, 80%, or 100% sugar levels, but I didn't specify. Same percentages apply to the ice level. Within minutes my nuggets were ready. I was probably in and out in under 10 minutes. My milk tea satisfied my craving for sugar and boba. It was refreshing. The nuggets were piping hot and came in a small brown paper bag with two small skewer sticks. I saved some for my son and he described them as, "crunchy, juicy, and soft on the inside." Yup, he loved them. I enjoyed them, too. They had good flavor and kick, but I was not wowed. I have had better elsewhere. Next time I'll order them spicy. Service was pleasant and fast. Prices are reasonable. They have an extensive menu including snacks, noodles, rice, milk teas, coffee, etc. I am open to trying more items on their menu in the future.

While I was waiting for a friend to meet me for lunch at a nearby business, I decided to go up early to get some work done. There are so many businesses in this plaza, so I decided on a Bento Cafe to sit at while I got a bit of work done. I ordered a bubble tea and sat in the back. I love that it was served in a mason jar! It was so cute! They have the usual variety of flavors for bubble tea, and I believe I decided on honeydew. The seating was comfortable and conducive to Co. working.

Cute little Taiwanese restaurant with a variety of delicious food and a great flavored tea menu. I tried the basil fried rice with shrimp. The shrimp were large and cooked to perfection, the fried rice was also tasty with lots of flavor and the portion was HUGE, like two meals huge. I tried the strawberry milk tea with tapioca and it was refreshing and delicious. Service was friendly and quick. I can't wait to go back!

Braised minced pork over rice entree (lu rou fan)

Was honestly so excited to find another authentic Taiwanese restaurant! When I looked at the menu, I was pleasantly surprised to see multiple popular Taiwanese dishes - like oyster omelette, ba wan, radish cake, ai yu, Taiwanese sausage and even congee! I ordered the braised pork over rice meal (lu rou fan) which came with 3 different veggies, an egg, pickled veggie and plenty of braised minced pork. It was very good. I will totally get it again next time. The beef noodle soup was also amazing, although next time I'd get spicy instead of mild. They also had ba Wan, which something my mom used to make when I was younger. It was delicious! The taro milk tea with egg pudding was amazing! They even had aiyu as an option for dessert, which is pretty much a sweet lemon-y dessert with clear jelly. I grew up eating this back in New York and have been trying to find this for a very long time! All in all, I am glad that I found another fabulous Taiwanese restaurant. I wish it was closer though because it was definitely a far drive to Norcross from my house. But for me, the commute is absolutely worth it! Highly recommend.

We were a party of 5 and found both the food and the service to be inconsistent. The Food: Most dishes were mediocre or worse. The Three Cups Chicken (1/5) was the worst I've ever had. The Hong Kong Style Shrimp (1/5) was just bland, tasteless fried shrimp. The Lamb with Scallion (2/5) was far too salty. The only "average" dish was the Spicy Beef and Tendon (3/5), but one decent dish can't save a meal this poor. The Service & Billing: The service was quite slow during our visit. We waited a long time for the check and eventually ended up packing our own leftovers and heading to the front counter to pay so we could head out. I was also surprised to see an automatic 20% gratuity added to the bill, especially since it was calculated on the total after tax ($23.07 tip on a $106.80 subtotal). While I understand automatic tips for groups, it felt a bit high due to poor services. There are a lot of great dining spots in the area, but based on this disappointing visit, I'm sure I would not return to this one.

We found a restaurant not far from the matcha shop. It felt more like a Chinese takeout spot than a traditional sit-down restaurant, so there wasn't much to speak of in terms of decor. We decided to share everything we ordered. The first dish we tried was the Szechuan noodles. The flavor was excellent, but unfortunately, the dish arrived only lukewarm, as it appeared to have been sitting for a while before being brought to the table. Next, we ordered soup dumplings, but the restaurant accidentally brought out pan-seared dumplings instead. Thankfully, they let us keep them while they prepared our original order. The pan-seared dumplings were actually very good--piping hot and full of flavor. When the soup dumplings finally arrived, they were decent but didn't quite live up to the pan-seared version and lacked the same level of flavor. Finally, our Szechuan chicken arrived. It was hot, fresh, and delicious. The chicken was crispy with a great spice profile that delivered the classic Szechuan kick without being overwhelming. It was served with fried rice, which was fine but nothing particularly memorable. Overall, the experience was good but not exceptional. The food had some strong points, especially the Szechuan chicken and pan-seared dumplings, but the restaurant ultimately felt more like a solid Chinese takeout spot than a destination dining experience.

If you want authentic Korean-Chinese cuisine away from the hustle and bustle of Duluth AND not give…read moreup quality - this is the spot you wanna hit up. Get yourself nothing else but the CB3 Combo (JJA JJANG MYUN & JAMBONG W/ SWEET & SOUR PORK COMBO) - cuz IYKYK. Jjajangmyun bowl was as wide as a tire - slurp up the noodles and all that sauce cuz the taste is so damn good. Yes, the juices might wind-up on your face cuz you going down-down on it good like that, but who doesn't bask in wet, juicy glory like that, just wipe the collateral-damage off. Jjambong had the haemul (seafood) overflowing like the organ between my loins, but damn - what a bounty of seafood. Squid was also sitting up top like the jjambong bowls back in Korea. Broth was good, noodles were green - brb, throwing my glasses at the wall out of pure joy and disbelief at how damn good it was. Tangsuyuk? oh my word - just the right amount of crisp. Not so damn deep-fried like other places to the point of when you put it in your mouth, it scratches the skin off the roof of your mouth and cheek-walls like a blue-dolphin does (iiykyk). Just the perfect ratio of frying AND pork - I just rabidly shoved the whole piece in to my mouth, so damn good. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being top, I rate this place a 15, definitely coming back here, and you should too. Jinjja!

I visited Man Chun Hong in Atlanta and overall had a positive experience, with a few reservations…read more The interior was clean and well maintained. Being able to see into the kitchen while the food was being prepared added a sense of trust and transparency, which I appreciated. The service was very good. The staff checked on us regularly and brought what we needed quickly. Everyone was friendly and attentive. As for the food, I usually tend to be fairly generous in my ratings, but on the day I visited, the dishes were noticeably salty. The seafood noodle soup, jajangmyeon, and fried rice were all saltier than expected. I'm not sure if it was just an off day, but this part was a bit disappointing. That said, the overall experience was still decent, and I hope the seasoning is more balanced on my next visit.
