Great place for lunch. My wife and I stopped by for a quick lunch. We ordered the Tang Su Yuk sweet and sour crispy pork and the Bokkeum Jja Jang black beans noodle platter. Recently tried this restaurant and so glad we did. We ordered Kkanpung Saeu (Shrimp) and Haemul Jjampong (Spicy Seafood Soup). The shrimp were delicious and prepared just like I'm used to. This dish is lightly battered fried shrimp with a soy sauce bases sauce with red pepper and black pepper spices. It also features other sautéed veggies like green peppers and onions. The shrimp were spiced nicely, but also had the flavor of black pepper coming through. A lot of places don't get that right. The perfect mix of that spice red pepper heat and hint of black pepper are exactly why I love about this dish. The shrimp were fried perfectly and the veggies deliciously sauted. The Haemul Jjampong was a flavor and spice bomb. The broth was so flavorful and had a great essence of the seafood in it (squid, mussels, abalone). This soup is also for people not afraid of the spice...it was SPICY, but no so much that it was unenjoyable. The spice complemented the flavor and I loved it. The take-home of the leftovers was just as good the next day! If I had to say anything that they might think of changing, would be the addition of kimchi to the banchan. The banchan was ddanmuji (pickled radish, raw white onions, marinated white onion slivers, and soy marinated peanuts). I liked this restaurant! It mixes two of my favorites-Korean and Chinese food. The menu is a tad limited but what they do is done with passion and flavor. The serving size is great for the price. We ordered a seafood soup and a shrimp dish. Before our entrees came out they brought some banchan of peanuts, pickled onions , and radish. I enjoyed them but the onions were STRONG! After a short wait out came our piping hot entrees. Both were delicious! It had a little bit of a spicy kick but nothing over the top. The service and overall vibe were friendly. My friend had an inside scoop about a complimentary jjajangmyeon so I was more than happy to check this place out! We got seated right away on a Wednesday during lunch and found parking easily. We liked the ban Chan which included the classic kimchi, soy marinated onion and daikon, as well as some vegetable I am unfamiliar with. The jjajangmyeon itself was a huge portion with plenty of sauce on top of the noodles. We shared a fried spicy and sweet chicken dish as well which was flavorful and crispy. Overall, we had a good experience and would come again for the family and locally owned vibe. I recommend others to check them out too! read more

10/05/24 update I went again with the folks today. Another Gan Jjajang and Jjampong. The Gan Jjajang was as yummy as last time. Again I didn't get to taste the Jjampong broth but my mom liked it as much as last time. The noodles always have a good texture. This time I ordered Nanja Wansu- pork meatballs in a savory sauce with veges. I loved this dish when I was younger. The dish was pricey for $33. The Nanja Wansu I was used to had small flat meatballs. Theirs has huge round meatballs. I think the meat they used was mixed with some sort of flour and then fried. the inside wasn't too bad, but was a little pasty, it also had onions. If you've never tasted Nanja Wansu it wouldn't be bad. If you're used to the kind you would have in Bayside/Flushing at places like Guh Sung , then this will disappoint a little. Service is always friendly and prompt. I hope this place stays open for a long time, so many other dishes to try. Ordered gan jjajang and kkanpoonggi. I had a really hard time mixing the jjajang because the sauce was super congealed. There were large chunks of gelatinous goop which I've never seen before in jjajang. The kkanpoonggi also had a bit too much breading and was mushy to eat. Again, the sauce was overly congealed and all the pieces were stuck together within just a few minutes of eating. The plus is that the seafood in the jjajang was fresh, but otherwise the meal wasn't as great as other Korean Chinese restaurants in the area. read more

Heard good things about Chai Hong and decided to order Chinese take out. Oh man, what a delicious feast! Our family of 4 enjoyed jjajang myun, sweet and sour pork aka tangsooyook, gangpoong sehwoo, and fried dumplings. Everything was tasty and fresh. Service was friendly as they opened the door for my wife as she went to pick up our order. Ambiance is great and clean. They got a 100 on their health score. Well done. 5 stars for Chai Hong! I came here for free jjajjangmyun because they were doing it for back to school week for students. I was skeptical at first because I've never been a huge fan of it, but since it was free I thought might as well. They weren't busy, so I was sat immediately and ordered right away. Service was good, the staff were nice and the food was pretty good. The portions were bigger than expected, so it definitely did fill me up. Originally, it's $9.99 so it's very affordable. Below is what I ordered: - Bokkum Jjam Bbong. Essentially spicy seafood jam pong but the soup is super thick vs your normal runny jjampong soup. - Jjajang Myun. The jjampongs were really good! The red one was the normal jjampong but had a variety of veggies. It was piping hot when it came out and just very good. Spicy but not too spicy.. my 7 year old was able to eat some. White jjampong had a very strong black pepper taste. Less spicy than the red one. Husband liked it. They dont go shy with their ingredients! The jjajang was decent but not amazing. The mandoo was homemade and chinese korean style. Very gingery. We all liked it. The tangsooyuk was crispy and super hot when it came out. The sauce was very vinegary. I like vinegar but my husband thought it was a but much. Overall we loved eating here and will come here regularly. Our usual was samwongak but they are doing renovations and unsure when they open back up. The ladies serving were very attentive and nice. Korean Chinese Cuisine is one of my fav cuisines so l was very excited to try this new restaurant. They offer tasty and authentic dishes. Everything was amazing and I can't wait to visit again but one of my fav dishes was the yurin gi which is a crispy, fried chicken topped with garlic sauce. There is always something with this place. They once wouldn't allowed us to dine in when we went 1.5 hr before their closing time. The timing of when the food comes out is always off, always. Once it was the worst. Our main dish came out after we are completely done with our noodle dishes and were just ready to leave. They wouldn't cancel the main dish that didn't come out until we were done eating and asked for a check. Recently, their noodles changed and it's terrible. That is the last straw.
