We have been coming here for years and when my son was younger this was the place he wanted to go to for his birthday celebrations. Sumo offers a lunchtime special Monday through Saturday until 3pm. Prices during lunch are cheaper and they offer Sushi Rolls Specials (2or3 roll specials) as well as hibachi. Special comes with soup and salad which is an added plus. For a lunch special portion sizes are generous wish I could say I leave with leftovers but my son usually snaps them up. Truly a great place for lunch !!!

There were a few positives to our meal. The gyoza that came with my bento box was good, and I also enjoyed the California roll. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was disappointing. The chicken tempura was particularly underwhelming. It included only two small pieces of chicken, while the majority of the dish consisted of vegetables. The batter was extremely greasy, and the vegetables were soaked with oil to the point that it was dripping off them. Service was also lacking. Our server did not return to check on our table during the meal or offer beverage refills, which left us feeling overlooked. To make matters worse, I felt quite ill shortly after leaving the restaurant. While I cannot say with certainty what caused it, it certainly did not leave me with a favorable impression of the experience. Based on the food quality and service we received, I would not recommend this restaurant and do not plan to return.

These last two cuisines tend to be harder to find where I live. The amok with fish was divine. The curry was spicy but also sweet. The fish was superb quality, so tender, substantial with many chunks, and so flavorful. I was floating on cloud nine savoring this amazing trip, while reminiscing about the first time I had it in Siem Reap ten years ago. The tea leaf salad was good, but could have used more flavor for my taste. However, I tend to like this dish with a stronger fish sauce and fermented taste. My kids loved the Cambodian chicken broth with thin rice noodles. They loved the light, clean soup with slices of lean meat. The interior of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful and transporting. Paintings of Angkor Wot, Buddhist statues, elephants, and other traditional art adorn the space. The booths are comfy and the bathrooms are clean. The service was super kind and attentive. Overall this is a splendid restaurant. Utica is so lucky to have such a gem!! We will surely return in the future.

Every time I go I always get the Sweet Lotus Shrimp and the ginger pear martini. We also enjoy the tempura vegetable appetizer, bang bang shrimp and the calamari. Our server was good and others assisted with making sure we all had our drinks. It was good to see the place busy. The dining room is dark. Parking is ample. Thank you Sam for always making delicious food!!!!!

We moved on. So be it. We were pleasantly surprised to learn they were still open (or reopened or whatever). The decor has been upgraded from a tad dreary to gaudy over-decoration. Don't really care. We're there for the takeout food. In the past, the fried rice was the best ever tasted. Made to order, bright, fresh veggies, vibrant colors, newly fried egg. Today, they had the gall to shove clumpy, (at least) day old fried rice in our takeout bag. Even the egg placed atop was day old and rubbery. Few vegetables and a desperate search for a few pieces of chicken within. Not can't-eat-it awful but certainly below average ... and don't sell me yesterday's leftovers! Same deal with sushi. Previously lip smacking now bland and prepared indifferently. The cheapness of little protein continues here. A salmon roll was stuffed with cheap, shredded veggies with a tiny, tiny strip of salmon buried within. This is the last ever visit from these diners. Deceiving customers is not a good business model.
