I was invited to dinner with my daughter. Second time there with her. I was impressed the first visit prior to Covid. Plate was served and the presentation was excellent. Food was hot. Dinner was excellent! Second visit was a little disappointing. For the price I was expecting more. I had the filet which was excellent and cooked perfectly. Presentation was a miss. I know it's the flavor that counts but you also eat with your eyes. Dinner was not hot .....warm. The filet, mashed potatoes and green beans. The dish looked sad. Potatoes were just blah. I was expecting a fancier plating. I hope if I return they will make the dish look as classy as the price. read more

A new restaurant in Milford is what was needed, so we were so excited to try Benvenuto. Walking in the front door I was so impressed to see that the entire restaurant was updated and looked AMAZING. The owners have put a lot of money into their new restaurant. While I was waiting to be seated I checked in on Yelp and notice that for a restaurant that has been open since February there were only seven reviews, all 5 Stars though. We asked the bartender if we could sit at the bar and have a drink while we waited for our table, she told us that we had to ask Ms. Lisa. As we were trying to get Ms Lisa's attention another couple sat in the seats we were waiting for at the bar. I became suspicious about the quality of the restaurant as Ms Lisa was seating us kept making excuses for the slow service before our waitress even came to our table. We ordered drinks, I ordered and Old Fashioned that wasn't even close to being right, my wife ordered a smoked mezcal drink that she sent back. For apps we ordered a dozen oysters and every one was dirty and gritty. My friend ordered a Cesar salad that was not dressed and every one of the shrimp he ordered were burned. I ordered the elk burger that was served extra well done. My wife ordered the risotto that she said was just ok. My friends wife ordered the muscles and they were tiny and detached (over cooked). At the end of our dinner my wife let Ms Lisa (owner) know of our issues, not to be negative but for constructive criticism because we want benvenuto to be successful. I can't imagine how stressed the owners must be with their investment. Jacob our busboy was very professional and always made sure we had our water topped up and oil for our bread. Our waitress Hailey was very pleasant but seemed stressed due to the kitchen not getting orders out in a timely manner. We want to come back and hopefully see positive changes so I can write a 5 star review. read more

Although the room is pretty, there is nothing Italian about the joint. Service was poor at best. It is grossly mismanaged. They just can't get it together. Staff was very amateur. After weeks of checking with this restaurant to ensure content of their early spring special we were told by telephone of one we all liked. We made reservations on a Tuesday for a party of 4 on Thursday at 4:30. We traveled for a half hour and arrived on time and were seated. The waiter introduced himself to us and served water and dipping oil. We said we would like to order the special, Caesar salad, Bacon Cheeseburger and Cake. After a while the waiter returned with an associate to inform us they has bad news. Two cooks called in sick, so they could not cook the special, but we could order off the menu for a much higher price. We declined to accept this bait and switch. read more

Seems a little backwards. The dish was over complicated with ingredients. Would've preferred a more authentic simple yet delicious dish. This was my first visit to Benvenuto. I went with a group of 7 women for a nice dinner out. We were greeted promptly when entering the door and led to our table which was set and ready for the group's 6pm reservation. We received a few menus to share. Someone brought us water, then we waited a good 20 minutes to put in our drink order. After bringing our drinks, we put in our food order. There were no specials. No one came by our table again for almost an hour, when we flagged our waiter to ask for more water and another drink. He said our dinner would be out in a few minutes. A few minutes later, someone brought a person in our group a Flathead bread entree she had ordered. We told her to go ahead and eat, but she wanted to wait for our food. 10 minutes later someone came by to take back her entree and told her it belonged to someone else! It was after 8:00 before they brought our food. I got the stuffed flounder as did 2 other people from our group. Our meals were cold, as was the puttanesca dish for another person at our table. We did not send it back because we had already been waiting to eat over 2 hours. In addition to being cold, the flounder was now hard around the edges. Two different times while we were eating, waiters came by our table asking if we ordered the meals in their hands. They seemed confused and started asking around. Shouldn't they know?? Our waiter was barely there to serve us, and we were charged a 20% tip on our tickets. I usually tip a bit more, but wouldn't have in this case. It was a disappointing meal, saved by good company. I'm not sure if I would go again. $40 is a lot to pay for cold flounder. read more

Such a great find! Was traveling home to PA from Rehoboth and stopped in for a quick dinner. The restaurant was short staffed but you could hardly tell! The decor is tasteful and comfy and the staff very friendly. Loved the spicy cocktail sauce with our shrimp cocktail and their pasta straws. Highly recommend dining here or stopping in for a creme brûlée, as it was delicious. :) stop scrolling and dine here! read more

I was so looking forward to an Italian meal on our trip to Rehoboth. I was throughly disappointed. I never write reviews. In fact, this is my first one. I'm sad to say that the pasta and chicken dish was grocery store quality. I asked if the pasta was homemade. It's not, but that's Ok. I just really love pasta and wanted a carb meal. The waiter said they focus on their sauces. I saw that as a good sign that the pasta would seem authentic. The white wine and cream sauce was bland. I even added red pepper. No added benefit. My son had shrimp and pasta, and my husband had a filet with gorg. Their meals were better than my selection. I recommend passing this place and traveling the extra mileage to Rehoboth! read more

Nestled in an older shopping center in Milford, Delaware was Benvenuto. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff friendly( kudos to Kristyn) but the star was the excellent food. We went there for lunch and enjoyed every minute. Delicious from soup to dessert....to a wine flight. We will definitely be back soon to try the dinner menu. Thanks for a wonderful time. read more

This review should have been excellent, great, and fabulous, but I can't rank them that highly. The reason is because the "greeter" was absolutely rude so she started us off with a sour taste immediately. We were a party of 3 senior citizen ladies, and not being more aware of the policy, we did not make a reservation. Two of us had never been there before; the third had met friends there and she knew nothing about making a reservation. We were there on Tuesday, April 13. It was a damp, chilly, rainy day. We got there when they opened and there was not one other customer to be seen. It was probably at least a half hour before a very few others came in. We actually were chastised and berated for not having a reservation. The tone of her voice was absurd. We did not feel welcome at all. We nearly left, but we had heard the food was wonderful, so we stayed. Now to the excellent part: Best crabcake I have ever eaten, cooked to perfection. Wonderful portions. Best server without a doubt. (Lovely, amazing lady; a joy to speak with.) Wonderful selection of teas. If the restaurant would have a sincere greeter who knew something about the definition of customer service, our experience would have been something to truly rave about. The restaurant is beautiful; decor could not have been nicer. Even visiting the bathroom was really nice. They have done an excellent job with all of it. read more

We were in Milford, DE for a lacrosse tournament at the DE turf fields and decided to try Benvenuto based on the Yelp reviews. We got take out our first night and the food was AMAZING! We had the pear salad with salmon and the chicken parm. We went back our second night for dine in and had the crab cakes, mussels and chicken parm again. We met the chef who was one of the nicest and friendliest people I have ever met. If you are in Milford for a tournament you HAVE TO EAT HERE!! We can't wait to come back next year. read more

I love the prices here because they reflect the poise, the robustness, the incredible balance and harmony of flavors that would be your meal. Frankly, $h!t is priced perfectly. As I sit here and chow down on my beet and goat cheese salad and enjoy the crunch and the beet and the goat cheese that makes me forget what an orgasm is because wow, this stuff is good. Having the shrimp Alfredo that came out right on time post my incredible salad. It's piping hot, giving me the opportunity to lick the plate clean while no one is looking. Holy shrimp BATMAN!! I don't know what the seasoning is but that's fresh herbs in my sauce. Man, CHEF DONT PLAY!! It's a Monday night so because the pasta is perfectly al Dante, I won't complain about the arrangement of the shrimp not being properly aligned like the weekend. They're just a hair over cooked, but hey! This is a critique and I'm the toughest in the biz. Nevermind. Chef isn t here. He's out this week. Jason is in the back according to Lisa. I made a reservation for 4 people about 3 weeks in advance of my wife's 40th birthday. Her parents were driving down from Pennsylvania for the evening and we really wanted a special evening. Just shy of a week out, I received a call from Lisa (manager). She said an event they had planned for the banquet area was becoming so popular that they wanted to cancel my reservation in order to expand their capacity into the main dining area so they could fit more people in. I told her I was frustrated because we had planned this well in advance, but clearly our business was less important than event attendees who were paying more to be seated. She offered me 3 alternatives: I could either agree to only eat the pre-planned menu items and also pay to be part of the wine tasting event, provide our food choices 24 hours prior and they would prepare the food 2 hours in advance and have under a heat lamp only to serve us while sitting at the bar, or provide our food choices 24 hours in advance so they could keep it warm under a heat lamp and then be picked up and taken to go. I elected to not accept either of her solutions and instead made a reservation at Piazza Mia where they were more than happy to take us in and also provide us with a nice & private booth. I found it shameful that Benvenuto valued the almighty dollar more than their own reservation policy and I do not see our family visiting them in the future. read more

Growing up as an Italian-American, I thought spaghetti, tomato sauce/gravy, and bread were the only foods served at an Italian meal. Many thanks to Benvenuto owner, Lisa Johnson who educated my wife and me on Tuscan cuisine. And we're glad she did. There happened to be a big private party when we stopped in midweek recently for dinner. Our server Jacki alerted us that the menu was limited due to the private party and staffing shortages. Jacki was personable and very knowledgeable about the menu items. Not long after placing our orders, Lisa Johnson stopped by to fill us in on the restaurant's history and Tuscan cuisine. It was one of several trips she made to our table to check on us and explain the Tuscan dishes they serve and tell us about the dedicated staff that works there. We started by sharing a delicious and whopping Caesar's salad. My wife completely enjoyed the Honey Roasted Salmon with Sunflower seed gremolata, wild rice, and summer corn salad. I got my pasta fix when my flavorful Chicken Caprese Pasta with roasted tomatoes, fresh burrata, pesto cream, and balsamic was served. Benvenuto's is the place to go if you're looking for a carefully prepared meal, thoughtful service and a welcome for just walking through the door as a customer. This was the worst experience at a restaurant I have ever received. I understand it's COVID but changes need to be made of this restaurant wants to survive past the pandemic. The staff needs to be educated on the guidelines of how to properly wear a mask. If you are speaking to a customer, please do not pull your mask down to speak that defeats the purpose. When pouring water into glasses do not touch your mask and then pick up someone's glass with the same hand. The amount of upper level staff in this establishment that couldn't seem to keep a mask on their face including the chef who came to the table without one on completely, made me extremely uncomfortable. As for the service my table was there for over 3 hours, and our food didn't come out until the very end of the second hour. Half of the groups food was comped but the other half had to pay for their food and drinks, it was not fair and we all left extremely disappointed and will not be returning to this establishment. read more

I was there on 09/02 to celebrate my birthday. My sister, who lives on the west coast, had arranged to pick up my tab. I was feeling a bit down cause I'm new to the area & was dining alone. Went to dinner for the first time. Service was great. Even though it was packed all if the staff was very pleasant. They've done a wonderful transition on the interior. So open, bright, and beautiful. The food was so delicious. Had the short rib bolognese. We ordered the cheese platter and italian flatbread for the table. This place is outstanding. The decor is absolutely stunning. We sat on the patio for dinner. Wife had cioppino which was fantastic in taste and presentation. It had the Italian sausage and peppers which was enough for a crowd. Delicious as well. Our server, Phillip, was excellent. The owner stopped by a few times to check on our satisfaction and quality of dishes. Only problem were the thousands of flys. read more
