I called and made a reservation during a recent August night on a Monday. When we arrived the restaurant was not crowded at all.We were promptly seated but did not see a server for 10-15 minutes. When someone finally came to take our drink order-water and wine-it was another 20 minutes before the drinks were served. The other server/manager noticed us getting anxious but assured us that our drinks were being made . Really?! Glasses of water & wine? Our food order was finally taken after a good 30+ minutes. After placing the order she came back to our table to tell me I had to order something else. The food we ordered tasted fine but my dish was not what I ordered. I ordered Chicken Marsala that had no taste of Marsala wine. We weren't the only ones with horrible service that night. The table behind us had one person who didn't even receive a meal. Wonderful restaurant and I really enjoy the food here. Nothing fancy by decor standards but you know what your going to get. Started with steamed clams and then got a veal dish....Overall everyone was pretty happy with the entrees ...a couple of misses on appetizers (the bruschetta I would avoid). My family and I have enjoyed dinners and an occasional luncheon at Villa Sorrento for more than 12 years. Coming from NY, we found it very difficult to find an Italian restaurant that we liked. The first time we went into Villa Sorrento, we knew that we found an excellent Italian restaurant. All of the Italian favorites are all here!! Pasta dishes, fresh seafood, tender veal, flavorful chicken dishes, chops and steaks. The service is always excellent, the owner, Mara has a beautiful voice & if you're lucky, she'll break into song for you!!! It adds to the experience. If you have room for desert, treat yourself!!! In all of this time, we have never been disappointed and look forward to our next delicious, authentic meal there. Don't judge a book by its cover as the location is off of Rte. 1 and in a strip mall. As soon as you enter, you know you are in a really special place. read more

Ordered take out for 2. We ordered a Caesar salad, the clam & shrimp linguine and the lasagna al forno. The staff was very friendly and it was easy to order. The meal was ready for pick up in about 25 min. Upon arriving home the food was still quite hot. My mom enjoyed the linguine. The lasagna had good flavor, but way too much meat, and no ricotta. Definitely would've been a better dish with ricotta added. The salad was just ok. The dressing was not traditional Caesar dressing. It was just ok. ONCE the one couple sharing a pizza left, our table for four was the only one in the restaurant. The decor is tired and definitely needs a refresh. The owner was pleasant but was not that attentive and our server gave the impression she would rather be anywhere else. The Caesar dressing was obviously bottled and cloyingly sweet and lemony. Store bought croutons. Never opened the bread basket because it came with diner butter packets. Entrees arrived and no one was impressed. Tasted OK. We really wanted to like this restaurant. Having lived in the Lewes area we are always looking for a small family run restaurant that isn't part of a bigger chain. We went and ordered 2 basic things any Italian restaurant should be able to make well. Lasagna and Chicken Parm. We also ordered Minestrone soup. The soup was barely pink it was so watery. The lasagna was like one big noodle with a mound of burnt meat in the center, no ricotta cheese. The noodle was wrapped around the meat with little sauce. The chicken parm tasted like a frozen chicken cutlet, deep fried. A bit of watery sauce. Topped with a square edged piece of cheese, like a Kraft single. The salad was very nice. But sadly we won't be back, nor can we recommend to friends and neighbors. We are disappointed at best. read more

A step above Olive Garden for authentic Italian cuisine. At Olive Garden the ambience is clean and comfortable. Villa Sorrento needs to stop putting band aids on their aging seating. I wasn't impressed with the ratty looking rug that covers the eating area. The dishes we ordered were smothered with sauce as seen in the photos. The sauce was tasty but overwhelming for a dish of pasta. I get the feeling that this restaurant survives by its take out orders. This restaurant has lots of potential... they need to up their game and do a total makeover. read more

We have lived in Lewes for five years and this was our first visit to Villa Sorrento, but not our last. We dined with another couple, arrived for our 6pm Friday reservation and were seated promptly. Drink orders were taken and warm bread was served shortly thereafter. We all shared the chopped antipasto salad, which was excellent. Two of us ordered specials (one seafood, one pasta dish) while two ordered veal dishes off the extensive menu. All dishes were well prepared and served piping hot. Portions were generous and we all ended up bringing food home. Service was attentive. We all enjoyed our dining experience. Ambiance is what one would expect from a local Italian restaurant in a strip center. Repairing the torn/patched vinyl seating would be a big improvement at minimal cost. read more

It was like chewing on thick dry dense bready bland cardboard with a paper thin layer of sauce and barely any cheese, Just to clarify, it's completely devoid of flavor and has a very thick tough texture. You'd do better - much better - with any frozen pizza, like Ellios. Yea. It's that bad. We were staying in a hotel across the street, so its only redeeming quality was that it was conveniently located, but if we knew it was this awful we would've driven anywhere else. I'd rather eat rats before I have another meal there. the soup was extremely spicy and watered down. it's obvious they added so much pepper to make up for the watered down minnestrone. the chicken parm was disgusting. as a first generation Italian American how could they serve such garbage?. first of all you bread and fry the chicken then add to pan the sauces and cheeses and bake. the chicken wasn't prepared properly. the tables felt sticky. the place wreaks of filth. Was trying to find a classic Italian spot in Lewes/Rehoboth area to eat at with my family. It's easier when Italian places stick to authentic ways of making their menu items instead of going out of their way to be different (ex; making marinara sauce with dairy, adding eggs and milk to bread/crust). Luckily we found this place, all the other places had that issue. The reason this is such a problem for me is because I am vegan, when eating Italian I mainly have to stick to marinara/tomato/wheat dishes lol. After calling and finding out the marinara was vegan as well as the pasta and bean soup we came here! Service was definitely on the slower side but it's a small establishment which seems family run, they were understaffed and stressed dealing with indecent customers and larger parties of older people so we cut them slack. So although it took 30 mins to bring us drinks and bread, and an additional 40 to bring us our main courses, the appetizers and salads were enough to keep us from getting too bothered. They were nice enough to allow me to customize some menu items. Bruschetta with the mozz removed, not the best bruschetta I have ever had so I now understand why they usually include mozzarella. The bread they used just wasn't bruschetta standard bread lol, it was more softer-deli style Italian bread. The soup was good, tomato taste was very strong but I like that, wish there were maybe a few more beans though! The Mariana sauce was good, classic marinara sauce - not too oily like some other places! Spaghetti was slightly over cooked if you ask me but the broccoli was up to par :) Also our salads were fine, I'm not a huge fan of iceberg lettuce, would be nice to see an option for romaine or spinach. One of my favorites for Italian in Lewes. Eggplant was done just right and large servings. Spaghetti was also very good. The ambiance was very Italian cafe themed and service was good.
