I have no family close by but once I was quoted $4700 for a $500-$1000 job I knew I was being scammed. I had to have my brother come down from Reno to help me out and they knocked everything down to $2200. It's 2026 and you think women don't know shit about cars? I know when people are tryna scam, which is why I don't go to body shops and work on my car myself or for bigger jobs my brother helps. Couldn't let me know they were struggling to put the tire back on so I could let the tow truck know so they could have brought the right equipment to get it on the ground when dropping it off. They just had it sitting on the rotor and wouldn't answer the tow trucks calls when they arrived. (Insurance made me provide their number since I couldn't get to the shop beforehand). We were able to put the tire on though. On top of that they broke the plastic cover for my shift button which makes no sense why they even removed it given they had the keys to shift the gears.... they quoted me $1k for a service they wouldn't even replace the parts they were gonna have to remove and when I asked if I could just remove it and have them do it they said $700 ... wouldn't have been bad if I didn't receive my car back like this. Couldn't even cover the backseat and put the tire they took off on my suede seats. Also offered to buy my car off me....like they knew they were tryna scam and it's shameful af to scam women or any gender! All to offer to buy my car??? Maybe yall shouldn't offer a free diagnostic if you're gonna treat someone's car like it's not valuable just because you can't rip them off. He inspected them and showed me how each one was clean, dry, and completely fine. He then inspected the rest of the engine compartment and the undercarriage and showed me that it was all in great shape. Finally, he noticed that a previous mechanic had removed the plastic shroud for my front wheel wells and failed to install new clips to secure the shroud afterward. I had wondered about the gap he noticed for years, but I didn't realize it was anything other than wear and tear. He replaced the clips for no extra charge. I know it seems like a small thing, but to me, it speaks clearly to Roland's character: I believe he genuinely cares about doing right by his customers and taking good care of their cars. When I asked him about some issues with electronic parts on my car (e.g. a digital dashboard display), he let me know that his area of focus was mechanical service and advised me to take my car to an electrical auto shop. I was grateful that he knew the limits of his expertise, communicated them clearly, and stuck to them. I felt his quoted price was quite reasonable, and even after he performed more work than requested (still within about a 1-hour time slot), he stuck to his original price quote. He spent 40 minutes prying at different parts and trying to forcefully remove my fuse box to get to the 100A fusible link that I had to tell him was located beneath and the assembly had to be unbolted to get to it from underneath. After 40 minutes of painfully watching him attempt to force things open. I politely asked him to stop as it was obvious he didn't know what he was doing and broke a few components off my housing. I tried calling him to let him know of the damages. He denied responsibility and said he was only at my house for 5 minutes. He told me to never contact him again and failed to respond to the before and after photos I sent. Do not trust this shady business. What went from a lb easy replacement of a 100A that I could have done myself but did not have the time to do so, resulted in several hundred dollars of parts in addition to more for labor due to gross incompetence. DO NOT TRUST HIM!
