I'm glad I had my car retowed to Knight's Automotive from another shop in West Sac. The other shop said they found the starter failed in my vehicle and needed to be replaced. Come to find out, the $800+ starter that the West Sac shop was going to charge me to order, turned out to be the starter cable disconnected from the battery. The owner, Marcus and his service advisor, Keith saved me alot of money. I was only charged $110 for diagnosing my car. Very impressed with their excellent, honest, and reliable customer service. This is an awesome automotive shop! Their customer services is the best! My husband's truck broke down and, based on a referral from a friend, he took it to Knight's Automotive. They ran a diagnostic check on the truck and confirmed what we knew the Knock sensor and found that the Cam sensor and our distributor were fried. Well, we were quoted $600 from other repair shops for just the sensor, but Knight's Automotive quoted us $400 to replace the sensor, and another $200 for the distributor. So Knight's total quote was $600!! That's not all!!! While replacing the sensor and distributor, Robert, the wonderful mechanic who worked on my husband's truck, found a couple of leaks in coolant lines which he repaired at no additional cost. These guys are honest, hard-working, customer satisfaction oriented guys. If you need your vehicle fixed, I suggest you call them first. read more

After Silver Star Motors could not diagnose a reasonable solution to my car without many thousands in parts in labor, I was doubtful that Knights Automotive could help. I was wrong! Marcus kept the car for a full week and meticulously tested parts that Silver Star overlooked. What he discovered is the problem was a very inexpensive part. Instead of charging me thousands to order it from Germany, he found a local replacement and completed the job for 25% of what I was expecting. He could have easily charged me much more and I would have paid it, not knowing any different. This is a small shop without all the bells and whistles of the bigger shops. Bigger shops aren't always better and most times they are a hell of a lot more expensive. I took my hybrid to the shop that I usually go to because my car was a lot louder and rougher than it should be. I was quoted over $1,000 to replace the exhaust manifold which had a crack in it. While I was deciding if I wanted to spend that much to fix a car that had 125,000 miles on it a friend of mine suggested I call Marcus. I'm glad I did!! Marcus gave me a quote of $800 to replace the manifold and a quote of $300 to weld the crack. Given the age of the car I decided to have Marcus repair the manifold instead of replacing it. The car runs good again and for about 30% of the price of my usual shop. So far so good!! read more

Quoted me a price while I was on the phone and even offered to go the extra mile by picking up my car with his trailer. He was my neighbor, I met him when he stopped by wanting to buy my Truck. The same truck I refer too. I took him a refurbished block, crank, from a machine shop he also does business with. My heads were bad and the machine shop asked me to get him others to rebuild. I was not confidant in my ability to find and bring him some from junk yard. I brought him some I bought from a reputable ebay dealer. He told me they were within specs but that on one surface of one head it was a bit rough. On the machine shop request I brought him new connecting rods. The seals, gaskets, chains, pistons and rings were included in the engine kit I also purchased from him. I gave everything to marcus to put together and install in my truck. I stressed that I wanted it all done right and trusted him to do so. I agreed for him to purchase and install all components he requested. His dumpster service ran his dumpster into the front of my truck and dented the hood and likely a dent I now see in the front fender. He said he'd fix it. He told me his guy could fix it for 700.00 or he'd give me two hundred dollars. I chose his guy. In the process of his repair he allowed a foreign object to get into cylinder 8 which crushed the top of that piston and did some damage to the drivers side. He took it back to the same machine shop we both use and had him fix it. From that time forward he was calling the heads I brought him junk. This was all done on a handshake. He called me after his repair and told me the head or injectors were making a tic noise. I went over to check it out. It sounded more to me like a loose rocker arm noise from the head. But they don't have those. I asked him if he made sure everything was tightened in that passenger head. He told me "Pat" There's nothing for me to tighten. I'm thinking I swear there was other bolts in there. I had mentioned to him when he told me about the driver head issue that "maybe I'd help him on costs". He offered to diagnose the noise for another 180.00 He had taken it upon himself to charge me a few more hundred for his mistake. So I'm there, I've paid him over two thousand for his labor. I'm into the whole thing for around 7 thousand. And he's wanting to charge me to diagnose a problem with the engine he just put together for me. And he didn't fix my hood. He actually wasn't there when I picked it up his guy was telling me all this. He hadn't seemed to want to talk to me for the latter part of the job. So, in approximately 125 miles I'm 4 quarts low on oil. I add in 4 quarts. I'm thinking he either didn't put it in or it lost it. In less then 250 miles the its blowing smoke out the back and I'm wondering what's going on. Then the check engine light comes on, then oil pressure light. I pull over and get it towed home. I call him the next day telling him what happened and all he has to say is see, I told you those heads were junk. First and foremost it was loosing oil, then in the head that he said had nothing to tighten, the cam cap bolts were loose. Thereby allowing the cam to come loose and bust a hole thru my valve cover. I had to persuade him to take a look at it. He doesn't say sorry or offer repair. In fact he tells me to get my truck out of there or he's going to start charging me 50.00 a day storage. I've since had a different shop replace the engine and it runs nice and smooth. What a mistake. I'm having now to sue him. Oh, and the BAR was no help, it seems to them he has to have been proven to have purposely did something wrong. How I wish I could of been one to be able to praise him and his work. read more

I have been taking my cars over to Knights now for about 2 years. I have always been happy with the work he has done and was very content knowing that he stood by his work. For awhile I kept telling myself that I would give him a review on Yelp, however kept putting it off. Well, today I felt that review was long overdue. I was about to pull out of my driveway when there was a pop in the front left tire area. I looked and seen the control arm up against the inside of my rim. I left the car there and called Marcus. Told him the issue and he had me take a pic and send it to him. I did and he agreed it was the control arm. He noticed it looked new and asked if I ever had them change it. Informed him that I did not recall. He checks and confirmed that they did. He told me it was still covered and not to drive it. He will be here later today. Sure enough, an hour later, he is here working on the problem. This is not the first time he has done outstanding work and I am confident that it will not be the last. read more

i got right in after i called hoping to get service now. prices were reasonable, owner mans the couner and is honest and freindly, like a neighbor. if anything of concern comes up they show and tell. they take care of little things that are big things at bigger shops. they catch things that others overlook. there waiting area is small but has filtered water, good coffee, some mags, you can hear the guys in the shop talking friendly and fun. customers could use some bigger/wider chairs. they will go out of their way for you. very knowledgeable owner. he'll save you money. he likes to have his bible near by. read more
