CHANGED MY LIFE! I was recommended by one of my optometrists to visit their office for a consultation and I was beyond happy that I made the visit. Per the many reviews, you don't spend a ton of time with Dr. Berg but he's a delight when you're together. Come ready with questions! He's busy and every minute does count. The rest of the staff was so friendly and accommodating that I felt safe during the process. Again, yes the reviews about the sales pitch is a bit rigid... But, it's a laundry list of details so I see why they need to get through it as quickly as possible. As for the procedure, it was very quick and some slight pressure. I actually watched Dr. Berg, via YouTube, perform the procedure many times. I know it may stress some folks out to see it... But, I felt like a more intelligent, informed patient after watching it. Also, I had way more respect for the work he does. Post procedure, I was not prepared for the aching pain. It does hurt and you can't see... Unfortunately, it took longer for me to recover. 3 days for full sight, 1-2 weeks for soreness to dissipate, and 1 month for all the redness to dissipate. My left eye is 20/15 (better than perfect) and my right eye is 20/20!!! Only downside is you lose a little bit of your near vision, less than 2 inches, and some ability to see in the dark. It doesn't affect my vision driving at night at all. My eyes occasionally get dry... But, per their advice, taking fish oil caplets relieves this issue all together. I've been raving about the procedure to my friends and family, who are now looking to do Lasik with Dr. Berg. I've even convinced my own optometrist to sign up for the procedure. Believe me, waking up with perfect vision and doing sports that involve water or helmets without glasses is absolutely LIFE CHANGING! If you're thinking about, go in for a consultation. read more

If I could give less than a 1 star review I would. I scheduled an appt at 9:15. Showed up on time and sat in the waiting room until 11am while I watched patient after patient get called in before me. Some of them had been there prior to my arrival, but they were even taking patients back that arrived after me. I finally made my way up to the receptionists desk to ask what was going on, to be told the dr was very busy. 3 seconds later I was called back into a room. A nurse asked me a few questions all in which I answered politely, because after all it's not her fault and I don't feel as though I should be rude to her. She asked me the same questions multiple times, I'm not sure if she wasn't listening or didn't understand, but I should've known from the way I was treated by the receptionists that nobody in this office was competent of anything. She told me she was going to see if the Dr. was ready to see me, that was around 11:05. It's not 11:43 and I am still sitting around waiting for the Dr. pause...she's finally here at 11:54 Update: Dr Nguyen is the absolute worst Dr I have ever seen in my life. Her attitude with me was beyond anything I could ever comprehend in my life. It was almost as it was a burden that she had to see patients. She never once cleaned the equipment she wanted to use on me, mind you I have a bacterial infection in my eye so definitely not sanitary for other patients to be sharing similar equipment. Also I'm unaware of what the previous patient was in for. I called her out on it and she said that's what her nurses were for, funny thing was the nurse didn't do it either so I refused to let her use the equipment until it was sanitized. That's when her attitude got worse and when mine kicked into full force. She rushed me in and out of that chair in 3 minutes and told me to reschedule in two weeks and I told her I'd rather lose my eye sight than to have to come back and waste my time waiting on her awful attitude and unprofessional manner. Needless to say, I will not be following up with her or that office ever again and I hope to god if you read this review you don't waste your time or money either. read more

I have actually been sitting at my back yard glass door, looking out at a bright clear world, and thinking about all the ways in which Dr. Robert Feinfield and his amazing staff have made my life better. I knew I had cataracts for the past five years or more, but frankly, I was too scared to ask to have them removed. The idea of someone coming at my eye with a knife, or a laser, or an ice pick, while I was awake and watching-one horrifying scenario after another kept me from seeking correction and relief. Nothing my friends could tell me made any difference. Finally, not being able to read subtitles on the tv, and the looming threat of not passing my vision test at the DMV were the final straws. Fast forward to eye number one. From the moment I arrived at surgery, I was treated with kindness, respect, and gentleness. Each staff member was not only efficient, but also quite aware of my fears and did everything possible to reassure me. By the time Dr. Feinfield came in to do the actual surgery, I was (mostly) relaxed and ready. He speaks in a calm voice, and every motion he makes is professional, experienced, and PAINLESS! Not one of my fears proved to come true! Next morning, at my follow up visit, when the patch came off, it was like being reborn! Fast forward to second eye, I am constantly discovering how much better, brighter, more crisp, and more colorful my world is! Reds, blues, color variations I had actually forgotten in a world that went beige and grey years ago and, like with a slow-boiled frog- didn't know I was seeing. If you, or anyone you know, is suffering with the invasion of cataracts, call Dr. Feinfield, get checked out, and if he recommends surgery, be not afraid. I've always been more than satisfied with my care here, and so has my family, and many friends and co-workers. When I recently had an issue with floating images in my dominant eye, I saw a Dr. Nguyen. She was rude, dismissive and arrogant. She just looked and said she could see the problem, and that was it. She started to leave the room. I had to press her to hear that nothing could be done, it won't go away, but that my "brain would adapt" to the problem. Then she said surgery wouldn't be advisable since I should be having cataract surgery in the next 5+ years -- news to me! I'm having difficulty reading, working, driving. After waiting an hour & a half in the waiting room during covid with a room full of patients I asked how much longer it would be since patients were going in & coming out & I was still waiting. Was told I was next & they were just waiting for a room to open. Decided to wait until I saw they called 3 other patients in before me. I guess they had 3 rooms available for them. Don't like the dishonesty. Went home. Wasted my time & energy. Will never go back. Good luck to you & hope u have the time & energy to wait in a room full of patients during covid. This is my first time getting surgery on my eyes, but I would have to say that these people are the best! I'm writing this one day after surgery where my prescription was -5 and is now 20/15. I'll explain how it went for me below: 1. Scheduled an appointment for a consultation at the Burbank office (the wait was less thank a week. in my case, it was the following Monday). 2. I went into a very busy waiting room about 10 minutes before my scheduled appointment and checked in. I waited about 10 to receive my general paperwork, filled it out, and about 10 minutes after that i was calling into a room where i was greeting by a nurse. 3. the optometrist working there checked my vision because it had been 2 years since my last check up. Luckily my vision had not changed much in the last two years so they had stabilized. They then checked my eye balls on a different apparatus that reads the thickness of your outer-eye (not sure what it's called). They said the "outer-layer" was thick which is good. 4. They walked me over to the accountant and we discussed finances. I chose to do the CareCredit financing which is 0% interested for up to 36 months which is AWESOOOOMEEE!. My procedure was less than $4,000 for both eyes, but everyone is going to be different depending on how screwed up your eyes are. That's really not much spread out over 3 years of payments. It's probably around the same prices and glasses, contact, and checkups for 3 years. We applied right there and....instantly approved!! Took less than 2 minutes. 5. They asked, "when would you like to schedule an appointment?" and i replied "immediately." So they said "how's Wednesday afternoon" and i took the opening. 6. waited two days.....there was no "prepping" for the surgery...just no caffee 4 hours before. They say this so you don't come in tense and shaky. It's best to go in tired. WEDNESDAY- DAY OF SURGERY 7. Had my girlfriend drop me off at the time of my appointment, and we both waited for about 20 minutes until they called me back to prep for surgery. They rechecked my visions with the traditional machine, then they scanned my cornea with with a similar machine (i put my head on the rest, forehead against the top plastic, and blinked when i was told to). At this point they start telling you about the procedure. Basically, light goes through your eye, through your cornea, and hits your retina where your vision is sent to your brain. Ideally, to have perfect vision, your cornea should be smooth as glass, but if you have bad vision, it's ripply like beach sand. When they scan your cornea, they scan the imperfects and save it to the computer so the laser knows exactly what it need to do to make your cornea smooth. 8. Then they had to cut a "flap" in my eyes which is the most uncomfortable part of the operation. They cut a "C" shape in the outermost layer of your eye which exposes your cornea. To do this, you lay down, put numbing drops, use an instrument to keep your eye open, put a circular suction over your eye, and let a laser gently cut the "c-shape" in your eye. It's very fast and painless, but is definitely is uncomfortable. The thing holding your eye open doesn't feel good. The circular suction is pressed over your eye by the doctor, then the vacuum is turned on which i imagine lifts the skin up a little, and the laser cuts. There's no "pain" just discomfort. This is the most invasive part of the operation. You will experience blurred vision, possibly grey or black, or two sets of things during this 30-second operation, but after it you can see. 9. Then they walk you to the other laser room where the real operation is done. You can see while you walk but someone is there to guild you. You lay down again and this part goes fast. Just relax, look into they red blinking light, and let them work. The lift the "c-flap" of skin over (feels like they're dragging your contact off if you've ever worn contact), shoot the laser on the surface of your cornea to "etch your personal prescription", then they literally wipe the imperfections off of your cornea, and put the c-flap back over. The process is painless but weird because you can see everything that is going on. For me, my eyes felt itchy, similar to having bad allergies. 10. After they did both eyes and repositions the flap over my eye, my girlfriend walked me to the car to go home. You are able to see after the operation, but it's more comfortable to not try. On the ride home (my girlfriend drove), by eyes really felt super scratchy....i mean super scratchy and tears were falling non-stop. (Not wimp tears FYI) 11. They give you a sleeping pill before you leave and 3 Valium that you can take at will. I took everything immediately and went to sleep around 5pm and woke up at 10 am the following day with perfect vision, no discomfort, just a little "heaviness" in my eyes. No halos or bloodshot eyes. My 1-day follow up is in an hour :) read more

I had been wanting to have LASIK vision correction done for YEARS now and after some time I finally gave in and consulted my primary Optometrist Dr. Eisenberg from Warner Center Optometry. He gave me Dr. Berg's information and I immediately scheduled a free consult. Anyway, I went in for a free consult and everyone was very nice and accommodating, I love that because medical procedures can be so daunting but the office made me feel very welcome and comfortable. Dr. Berg himself was very warm and welcoming that I did not feel scared being in a medical office at all. Also keep in mind, I'm a nurse and you would think I would be used to being in medical offices, which I am, but having things done to my own body scares the hell out of me, especially when it's my eyes! The consult was basically a more thorough eye exam, a talk with Dr. Berg of what the procedure is like, and a talk with the office manager for pre & post-op info as well as the financial side of things. I opted to apply for Care Credit, got approved right away and scheduled my surgery that same day. That's how much I liked Dr. Berg and his staff! I scheduled my surgery just two weeks after my consult at the Sherman Oaks location. I was given various instructions to be done prior to surgery and I just followed everything to a T. The day of the surgery went VERY quickly. I got there an hour early, got prepped, headed into the surgery room and was probably done in less than 15 minutes. I did NOT feel a thing. I didn't smell any burning smells either! Dr. Berg talked to me the whole time and would tell me everything he was doing and that made me feel at ease. The day after I went back to Dr. Berg for my post-op exam and was told that I now have 20/20 vision!!! I am SO HAPPY I went to Dr. Berg to have my eyes done, after everything he even told me that even though my optometrist is gonna see me from now on, that they will be available for me always. I really appreciated that also. Fast forward to 5 days later, I am still using the antibiotic and anti-inflammatory eye drops I'm supposed to use for a week and my vision is still amazing. No dryness, no weird complications, I can see fine at night except for a little brightness from lights but nothing bothersome which I was told will subside (it's only been a few days since my surgery), and it's just amazing vision! I had an eye exam and was referred to this office because there was suspicion of glaucoma. Initially I was happy to have read such good reviews and was looked forward to being seen there. 1st visit was ok office was a little busy so I understood the wait. Seeing the doctor was a pleasant experience she was nice and suggested we wait 6 weeks before starting any medication (eye drops) well next visit I was suppose to have my eyes dilated instead I was given the same exact test as I had 6 weeks before ANYHOW once the doctor say the results of this test she said she could not believe how much my eyes had worsened BUT still did not want to start any drops and wanted to wait again another 6 weeks and still no dilation. Well I made an appointment with another office and brought all my paperwork from the Dr. Bergs office WELL NEEDLESS TO SAY HE STARTED ME ON DROPS RIGHT AWAY after he tested me for the same thing to confirm or more like compare notes and he was SHOCKED that she wouldn't start me on drops to slow down the process. I will NOT being going back there NOR would I ever refer anyone there. read more

This isn't a review of the Doctors but rather the office itself. Was referred by my Optometrist for a glaucoma evaluation. I got a VM from them to schedule an appointment. I called them back (818-845-3557) and booked for a Friday and took the day off work. I drove one hour for the appointment. I get there and they say not only am I not on the right day, I'm at the wrong location. They say it's booked for Monday in Sherman Oaks. I say that's impossible because I don't get Mondays off work so I would have never scheduled that, and I had no idea they even had a Sherman Oaks office. The booker specially told me 10am Friday and gave me the Alameda address. I was there, so obviously someone gave me the Burbank address. They said they can try to squeeze me in but i'll have to wait awhile. Total waste of time and so unprofessional. They kept saying our system shows you booked for Monday like it was my error. How do I have VM on my phone from the Burbank office if I booked in Sherman Oaks?! I told my Optometrist to stop referring patients to this company. read more

I went in for my yearly eye appointment and my regular eye doctor was out for the day, so instead I got some woman and my god she was bad. Never had I seen a doctor with such terrible people skills and lack of empathy for someone while she is poking around my eye. I understand the need to check my eye pressure, but I could've done without the 2 minute rant on that I need to keep my eye open or that she said I was scared...it isn't a conscious choice for my eye to twitch when you're shining a light into it and about to poke it. :l The 1 Star is for her, and her rating has to drag the rest of Berg Feinfield TLC Vision Correction down because they hired her. I got custom wavefront LASIK just over a year ago (Feb '09) with the Intralase laser. (Josh B. and I must have been led out with big plastic eye shields at about the same time haha). Dr. Berg and his staff were completely pleasant and patient through the whole process. But let's back up for a second! In 2003, when I was 22, I had a consult in Phoenix at one of the cheaper large-scale cattle call Lasik providers there (I'm not naming it because, interestingly, this place has at minimum been renamed, and I don't know if the same Drs/Mgmt are still there). During my preliminary eye tests there were FOUR students observing and carrying on dialogue with the tech about what was happening, without ever asking my permission to do so. Even better, when that was done, I asked the surgeon about the fact that my vision had only been stable for about 10 months, if I should wait longer since I was still pretty young and my vision had been slowing declining since I was 13. "Oh no problem," was the answer, "I'm sure it'll be fine." Hmmm. My consult ended with being asked, "So can we set a date for you?" But fortunately, I was already running the other way. Thank heavens I did, because it took another THREE YEARS for my vision to finally stabilize at about -4.5. Had I gotten it done at Phoenix cattle ranch, my eyes would have very likely ended up at 20/30 or 20/40, assuming they didn't manage to screw up anything else. So anyway, after my prescription had been stable for two years (27 now), I brought up LASIK with my excellent Optometrist in Culver City, and he recommended Dr. Berg. The combo of pollution, a computer job, and contacts had been making my eyes feel worse and worse in the prior year. I was back to wearing glasses about 75-80% of the time, so it was not a moment too soon for my sanity. I don't want to put my results out there as being exactly what the outcome will be for everyone, but my vision is now 20/15 with no halos, starbursts, or other night vision issues. It has absolutely changed my life and I would highly recommend Dr. Berg to anyone considering LASIK. read more

I had a followup appointment with Dr. Yates (I have never seen either Berg or Feinfeld) for some rather serious eye issues. Less than twenty-four hours before that appointment I got a call from the receptionist telling me that Dr. Yates would need to reschedule. Fine, I said. When can she see me? Well, Dr. Yates is only going to be in the office half a day a month from then on, and her next available appointment was in six weeks. No suggestion that I might see one of the other doctors, no questions about how I was doing, nothing. So I hang up and start looking for another ophthalmologist. Dr. Yates? I guess she's okay. With some doctors you leave their office impressed by their knowledge, professionalism, thoroughness and interest in you as a patient and as a person. I never quite got that feeling with Dr. Yates. As others have commented, she can be a bit condescending. What I will say is that overall the Berg Feinfeld practice feels (as another reviewer has suggested) rather like a factory. First you wait in the outer reception area watching expensively produced videos on a large screen in which the senior doctors tell you how great they are and how eager you should be to have them operate on you. Then you see a medical assistant who does a preliminary exam, after which you are escorted into a much less glamorous inner waiting room (no large screen video here, thank God) where you sit -- and sit -- and sit. I was referred to Dr. Alan Berg by a family friend who's an optometrist, who personally knew Dr. Berg for 18 years, and who's wife had undergone LASIK surgery by Dr. Berg. I have been wearing contact lenses and glasses for well over 20 years. My vision has been stable for the past 10-12 years at L: -4.25, R: -5.25, and I have a slight astigmatism in my right eye. From start to finish: I pinged my network of friends for LASIK recommendations on December 8th, chose Dr. Berg and called for an appointment on December 13th, got a consultation appointment two days later on the 15th, and had my procedure done 4 days later on the 19th. At procedure day, they took more measurements to make sure nothing changed from the measurements taken from consultation. Once everything was green, they explained again exactly what was about to happen, and then prepped and walked me down to the operating room. I won't go into the finer details of the procedure, but I actually noticed my vision changing *during* the procedure with every pulse of the laser, and especially when Dr. Berg placed the flap back in position. It was really fascinating. Also, Dr. Berg was excellent at encouraging me through the entire procedure - I was practically having a conversation with him. During my post-op checkup the following day, I was able to drive to the Sherman Oaks office from Westwood, I had no complications, everything was healing nicely, and I could read the 20/20 vision line. They also gave me a DVD of my entire procedure. At the time of writing, it's been 24 hours post-op. Everything I look at is sharp and in focus. Immediately after the procedure, I kept my eyes mostly closed, and went right to bed when I got home. When I woke up 6 hours later, I felt no pain or discomfort. I ate a bit, and then went back to bed for another 6 hours. My vision is a tiny bit cloudy (it's barely noticeable), but is expected to completely clear up in about a week as my eyes continue to heal. The staff was extremely friendly, fun, and knowledgable the entire time. We were the first consultation appointment that saturday in the Beverly Hills office and Dr. Berg was literally there to greet us. He met with us, explained the entire procedure, and answered all of our questions regarding risks, financing, and other concerns. Even one of the staff members use to work for the LASIK equipment manufacturers. They all made sure we knew who Dr. Berg was, his list of accolades and accomplishments, and that he uses only the best LASIK equipment for the most accurate results. They also took multiple measurements and would not stop until they got exactly the right measurements they needed. The entire operation cost $4200 + an optional $600 for life time touch ups + $50 for post-op kit (antibiotics, eye shield, and other drops). They also have options for 12 month interest free financing. My next check up appointment is at the end of January, but so far everything is progressing nicely. I went in for a free consultation to see if I was a good candidate for LASIK and I passed with flying colors. Then following two weeks after I had to procedure and it feels amazing to see without the need of my glasses anymore. The surgery was quick and easy, didn't feel a thing! So far I've yet to have any pain but my eyes do feel a little 'scratchy' but they give you plenty of eyedrops to follow up with that. Now, here I am the following day after writing a review just to let everyone know how good I feel. It's funny I just can't stop laughing sometimes to because I'm seeing things without my glasses. If you live in the general area and you're close by this is by far the best place to have eye correction. Would definately recommend it to all my friends and any one else who wants to live a 'Glasses/Contacts' free life! I am 5 years post Lasik Wavefront surgery and I can honestly say it's one of the best decisions I've made. Dr. Berg not only is an expert in the field, which is why I chose him to perform my procedure (look at his many professor and specialized trainings he's been chosen for and the many successful surgeries he's completed), but he also was very thoughtful, comforting and explained the procedure throughout. The best thing of course though is the result, 5 years later my vision remains 20/15 and 20/20! I have experienced many new things that I would not have tried when inconvenienced by contacts such as zip lining, go Kart racing, Hiking and extended snorkeling excursions, and next year I am skydiving for the first time and running my first 1/2 marathon without contacts! After speaking to numerous people that weren't as happy as I was about their procedure with other doctors, I felt it was important to let people know that Dr. Alan Berg is an excellent choice for your Lasik procedure! Choose only the best for your eyes, it was worth every cent and I am thrilled with my results. (P.S. I've been coming to Dr. Feinfield since 1999. When you find a highly competent doctor, it's like winning the lottery. However, I did not know how good I had it until my cataracts started acting up four years ago. As a professional photographer being able to look through a view finder is somewhat important. I didn't know the cataract had advanced so far until I tried to drive a new car off the lot. I arrived during the day but by the time all the paperwork was done the sun had set and every oncoming car was a white out. My right eye went from seeing two stars at night to eight in a few months time. We scheduled the cataract surgery and lens replacement. Dr. Feinfield has a very competent and friendly surgical team and surgery center. An experience that can be unnerving went so smoothly and the results were so spectacular I told Dr. Feinfield he couldn't retire until I had both eyes done which might be years in the future. The years have passed and my second cataract got to the point where I could no longer read and the world was very blurry. So this week we did the second cataract operation. All the faces of his staff were familiar and friendly, he has maintained the same competent surgical team for many years. It was like saying hello to old friends. Once again, the surgery went very smoothly and the results were spectacular. Seeing clearly out of both eyes again and being able to read the fine print is an enjoyment beyond words. read more

Dr. Berg and his staff were amazing. They have provided miraculous results with the lasik eye surgery. They were very forthright with all my questions and concerns. I imagined the operation would be very unnerving but this was not the case. Dr. Berg was very thorough, reassuring and constantly calming throughout the procedure. It's great to be prepared for exactly what was going to happen ahead of time; otherwise I might have freaked out a little bit. But Dr. Berg and his staff thoroughly briefed me on what would happen. I got supplemental briefings from others who had been through the procedure. I had done my homework and was ready. There's a moment during the operation that your eyes are open but you only see a blur of light. This was unsettling but because I knew this would happen ahead of time, I was ready for it. Plus as I said, Dr. Berg was incredibly calming and reassuring. After the operation, I was driven home by some friends and went to sleep for 13 hours. The next morning I took off the eye shields and hummed a few bars of "Amazing Grace" ( I once was blind, but now I see). I then drove myself to the follow up appointment at 7:30 am. All was fantastic. I was worried about my night vision having the halo effects around bright lights but these artifacts have not come to pass. They also let me know that I might have drier eyes than usual but this has not been the case (my eyes are no drier than when I wore contacts). For years I wasn't able to see clearly 12 inches past my nose without contacts. Now my vision is fantastic and I could not be happier with the results. It's been nearly 3 months since the operation and the results continue to be fantastic. My only regret is that I shuffled my feet for 3-4 years before having the procedure done. read more

I had something in my eye that was really scary and I was in a pinch. I had lasik done here in 2008 and was happy with it so I rather than go to the ER I showed up with no appointment when they opened on Thursday AM. Not only did they see me right away, but dr feinfeld got the nasty thing in my eye out right away. SUCH A RELIEF. Thanks for being flexible and helping me out in a pinch guys. read more

I had LASIK a week and two days ago and I can see 100%. Best decision I ever made. Best place I could have gone. For me it was only uncomfortable at times. Dr. Berg is great. He talks to you during the procedure. "You're doing good. This looks great. Excellent focusing. Very good. This is going well"...etc That way when I would see things or feel things that I was unsure of he was telling me what it was and that the procedure was going well. That was very comforting. The rest of the staff have great customer service. The explain everything and make the whole process virtually painless and actually quite exciting! You'll be able to see! So glad I choose this office! And with CareCredit, it was incredibly affordable. I have a payment plan with 0 interest! Amazing! read more

This place is a nightmare. My husband came home traumatized by the whole experience and ended up having to see a different optometrist who actually took the time to explain and look at his tests accurately before giving any diagnosis. Dr. Sarafzadeh is unprofessional in every way. She gave a hasty diagnosis without looking at any test and did not want to take any time to explain. The front desk was equally unprofessional. No compassion, emphaty, or basic human respect here. Not sure why some people get into professions that are supposed to help people when they clearly don't enjoy them. read more

I rarely write reviews but I had to let people who are skeptical or shopping for the best place to correct their vision. All I can say is Dr. Berg is amazing!! I went in for LASIK and was nervous about the whole process because these are my eyes I'm risking! Dr. Berg and the staff were so nice, they educated me about the procedure and what exactly to expect! I booked my surgery and during my procedure they made my experience very comfortable!! Dr. Berg fixed my stigmatism and vision in both eyes. I truly couldn't ask for a better place to correct my vision! You are in good hands with Berg-Feinfield!!!!
