I had a really bad experience here. I was misdiagnosed with a cataract when in fact the Lense of my eye had torn off. Some months ago I started to lose vision in my left eye. I made an appointment here. I told them my symptoms, rapid loss of vision, extreme pain and sensitivity to light. When I went in it was mostly fine until I saw the doctor. I had mentioned pain and light sensitivity. He shone a flashlight into my eye and I was struggling against the pain to keep my eye open. The doctor showed a complete lack of bedside manner. He said "Cmon man you need to open your eye!" and became increasingly frustrated. It was physically impossible to keep by eye open normally with the light being shone into it tears were running down my face and all was an impossible blur. After a few seconds he threw his arms up and said "you have a cataract, yup" We then handled exit paperwork. I had a sneaking suspicion Dr. Eghbali botched the exam as he was totally frustrated and unprofessional. So I went to a normal optometrist hole in the wall for second opinion. I was given a priority referral and am now scheduled for my operation. Dr Eghbali's diagnosis was incorrect and wholly irresponsible. His mis-diagnosis could have led to a permanent loss of vision for myself. I was very lucky. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. read more

I struggled with chronic dry eye (Meibomian Gland Dysfunction--MGD) for what felt like forever, and I was seeking relief. Dr. Farid Eghbali's suggestion of IPL (Intense Pulse Light) treatment was definitely the way to go, not just for my eyes, but also for my skin, helping to reduce sunspots, freckles, and hyperpigmentation. Dr. Eghbali doesn't care about his patients!! I made a follow up appt last year per his recommendation for cataract in my left eye. I showed up at 2:25 today and was told I was 15 minutes late so he wouldn't see me. They said my appt was at 2:15, a lie. I told them my appt is at 2:30 AND I called and confirmed yesterday. They told me the Dr said I was late and he had somewhere to be. I was turned away and lied to! I've been waiting for a year because my eye wasn't ready. I've been excited about this appt and this is what I get. Such garbage! I was offered another appointment next week, but I won't bother going to a liar and a chicken that sent his receptionist to lie to me as well. She knows the truth by the way, she saw the appointment on my phone and their computer. read more

ophthalmologist dr egbali in Burbank, I'd been to in 2001. He was saving me as he did all these tests, and then said no ,you have only one tiny cataract it doesn't need surgery. Then examined my vision and my new glasses they'd given me and said the prescription is wrong. Go back, have them replace all the lenses with my prescription. The chain optometry store is now replacing all the lenses no charge. This Dr is the only Dr I will next time do my eye examination and or any eye problems. The staff is really patient and nice and I'm so grateful for his new prescription and diagnosis which was correct. I don't have cataracts. Dr. Eghbali truly saved me! I went to urgent care twice and even the ER for a cornea injury, but nothing helped. My eye was swollen, red, painful, and had a lot of discharge. Thankfully, I was fit in for a same-day appointment with Dr. Eghali, and within 24 hours of his treatment, the redness, pain, and discharge were completely gone. He explained everything clearly and gave me the right drops and ointment that finally worked. The staff was also wonderful and caring. I went here for dry eyes. The doctor recommended an expensive laser treatment. I found out that it's not FDA approved for dry eyes, and the data shows it doesn't work. The doctor here said I had severely dry eyes, but when I went to another specialist, he said my eyes were only mildly dry. It seems the doctor was trying to sell a treatment to me, that doesn't actually work, and is no better than using a heated eye mask. He also said I had rosacea, and the laser treatment would also clear that up. The other specialist said that I do not have rosacea. Why can doctors do this to people? After consulting the personable Dr. Eghbali (F), he determined that the 4-treatment laser treatment on my rosacea would help eliminate the dry/itchy eye issues I had. AMAZING! Dr. Baril - fantastic. Dry eye laser procedure - worth it Following up to say sadly, I can't imagine going back. At my annual eye exam, an assistant saw to all my vision tests, and Dr. E came in just to give a final wrap-up. He had no recollection that I had done the dry eye laser process - WITH HIM PERSONALLY OVER 4 VISITS - though my records were right there. Weird. He then proceeded to let me know that he's now offering cosmetic laser procedures, brought up loads of online before and after photos of women's faces (manufacturer ads) and then pulled out his phone with photos and a video of a woman getting procedures in his office [holy cr*p - HIPPA much, dude?]. I was appalled. I didn't ASK for any information about fixing my face, he just launched into telling me how he could fix the lines around my eyes, forehead and mouth. I like my face a lot. I don't care about lines; I'm into aging gracefully. A bizarre hard sell at an eye exam sickened me. He even asked if I wanted on his waitlist. NO. I won't go back. Be an eye doctor or a laser center for skin - the two do not fit well together and assuming that every woman of "a certain age" must want face work is demeaning and rude. Dr Farid Eghbali diagnosed my sudden onset of double vision and referred me to another specialist who determined that my problem was caused by a blocked carotid artery. After surgery, my double vision stopped and my risk of stroke was significantly lower. My other doctors told me that Dr Eghbali's diagnoses was genius and he truly saved me from further difficulties. I was getting very frustrated with the long list of eye drops and surgical interventions my previous Opthalmologist was suggesting to address my dry eye symptoms, without much success. Itching and burning I could manage, but not the constant tearing. I had to carry around tissues in my sleeve like a grandma! My friend referred me to Dr. Eghbali. After just one IPL treatment with him, my tearing stopped completely and I began using far fewer eye drops per day -- one or two, not 10 +. Bonus: my rosacea is clearing up, I have fewer visible age spots (I'm 50) and broken capillaries. My facial redness is diminishing. Yes, it hurts during the procedure, especially if your skin is sensitive like mine, but the pain is over pretty quickly and the results are impressive. I used to think this was a good place as I never had a problem with them. A few days ago I received a bill from them for $196.32 for two office visits in 2022, more than 3 years ago. I knew I paid my co-pay at the time of service so I called my insurance company, Blue Shield of California. Blue shield told me my total co-pay was less than $20 so they called the doctor's office on my behalf. The Blue Shield representative informed me that she had to leave a message. Today the doctor's office called back and said their billing service made the mistake and failed to consider the insurance adjustments. I have a hard time believing this because it always seems to happen with providers in Burbank, sending me a bill several year later then claiming it was a billing mistake. I doubt there was a mistake, more like a way of doing business. Maybe som people don't question it when they receive bills like this but I do. Needless to say, I won't be going back. I have been under the care of both Dr. Kourosh and Dr. Farid Eghbali for at least 7 or 8 years. I was having problems such as glaucoma and was loosing my eyesight. They keep a close "eye" on me and my good eyesight is maintaining now. Also Dr, Kourosh Eghbali is a fine surgeon and cleared my eyes of cataracts! He also put in multi-focal lenses and now I do not need to wear glasses! They are both very caring, friendly and really do want the best for their patients! First of all, if you are hesitant to get your needed cataract surgery go to your phone immediately & make an appointment. It's easy, painless, minimal downtime, & the improvement in your sight is life changing. And I highly recommend these doctor brothers at East Valley. They are extremely competent, kind, helpful, & patient with your questions. There are different choices of lenses & types of surgery (laser vs. human) at different price points. These doctors & their staff make the decisions not quite so overwhelming. In fairness, they do have a tendency to nickel & dime you: there is a 3% charge for using a credit card (I do think, however, that they have a payment plan), & I was charged $50 for them to fill out a form for the DMV that I needed to renew my license (which - ok, I get it - but I was unaware of the charge which is not covered by insurance until I was leaving). However, these actions are not egregious enough to take off a star. Bottom line: the two Drs. Eghbali are top of the line in their field of all things eye related. Go get that surgery! I guarantee you will be thrilled with the outcome. read more

Hello, I selected "maybe recommend" because the doctors and technician in the medical office were wonderful. Very experienced and great bedside manner. The service was solid and professional. My experience with the front office was very different . I felt ignored the 4 times I have been in. No eye contact or "be with you in a minute" for a long time as I stood there waiting for some kind of greeting or acknowledgement that I was standing there! The glasses department was an unpleasant experience as they got my order wrong the first time and I had to wait an additional 3 weeks on top of the initial waiting period of 3 weeks. The woman who took my order yelled at me when I came back in insisting that I had miscommunicated with her about the order. She didn't even try to talk to me. Someone else had to take over the order for her. I hadn't gotten my own order wrong, but even if I did...yelling at a customer is not cool! I got my glasses, but needless to say I will not be using their optometry dept again! read more

I have been a patient at East Valley Eye Center for a decade. I was eligible this year for cataract surgery. I planned the surgery a year in advance so that I could manage the time, the pre and post ops, and surgery easily during my vacation time as I am a teacher. Everything went according to plans. Both of my surgeries went extremely well. One was done with laser and one without. Both are doing well. Care was professional at all phases. Both doctors at East Valley Eye Center are professional & competent. As a long-time patient, my husband has been very happy w/ the care that he has been receiving from both Kourosh & Farid Eghbali, & also with the opticians who prescribe his eyeglasses. However, the receptionists at this office have a lot to learn. When accepting a phone call, the caller should NOT be placed on hold for 10 min., & ignored; necessitating a 2nd phone call, only to be told that they will have to be placed on hold again, & "wait their turn". A simple question as to whether the doctor's appts. are running on time, should be easily answered, since the receptionists have access to that information. Not being given a straight answer is not acceptable. While, knowing if the doctor was running late, would also prevent the patient from having to wait in the office, for over an hour past the appt. time, to be seen; as has happened in the past. Patient consideration, from these receptionists, seems to be lacking is this office. And, a receptionist who chews gum while greeting patients does not convey professionalism nor instill confidence in office procedure. read more

I completely my second surgery 2 weeks ago and could not be more pleased. Lots of anxiety leading up to the surgery when you are trusting a Dr with your eyes. Any question or concern I had leading up to, during or after were all addressed. Mono vision lenses were not an option for me, so I decided on the laser assisted surgery. Even though my cataract was so bad that it was preventing me from being able to drive, I was still pretty nervous about having the surgery to remove it. I researched a few doctors that came recommended to me, and decided to check out East Valley Eye Center. I met with Dr. Kourosh Eghbali and Dr. Farid Eghbali on separate visits. Both doctors took their time to thoroughly examine my eyes and honestly answer all of my questions, which put me at ease. I felt ready to go ahead with the procedure, choosing a mono-focal lens (set for distance) and the laser-assisted surgery option. The entire staff at East Valley Eye Center and the Freedom Vision Surgery Center (where Dr. Kourosh Eghbali performed my surgery) were kind, careful and professional the whole time. Before the pandemic, I had been going to North Valley Eye for my eye/vision care. I have always had problems with dry eye from surgery I had when I was in high school. I will not mention the name of the doctor who cared for me over 20 years since he is retired but I relied on him to do what he could for me. Since his retirement, I decided to start up with my husband's eye doctor, Dr. Farid Eghbali at East Valley Eye Center. To my horror, he gently told me I had several conditions going on that had grown so much worse due to lack of treatment. I am now facing multiple surgeries in the future but for now he has prescribed simple treatments that have made a world of difference in my vision and comfort! If you're looking for a highly skilled and experienced eye doctor then look no further. Dr. Farid Eghbali is an amazing optometrist! He really cares for his patients like his own family. He's never going to push products or procedures that aren't necessary. He's knowledgeable in rigid contact lenses, glaucoma, myopia control and other complex issues that you would normally get referred out for. The refractions at this center cost less than they do at Costco and other chain optometry practices. They accept most medical insurances if you don't need eye glasses and just want to check the health of your eyes. Dr. Kourosh Eghbali is a an awesome ophthalmologist trained in cataract extraction, pterygium removal, glaucoma laser procedures and many more. He is such a kind person and will never push a procedure if it's not absolutely necessary. He will go above and beyond to make sure you are well taken care of and comfortable in his hands. The opticians are knowledgeable in all things optical and great at helping you pick out a frame that fits your face. The office is very clean, masks are required, and exam rooms are cleaned after every patient. There will be graduating eye doctors who will help work up your case, and all the doctors double check their work. The graduating doctors all seem to be very knowledgeable, professional, and highly trained. I really enjoyed my experience here and would recommend this practice to any family or friend. I have been going to East Valley Eye Center for over a decade and cannot recommend them highly enough. Dr. Farid Eghbali has been my eye doctor the whole time and he's just the best--straightforward, patient, generous, and kind. If there are issues with my eyes, he takes the time to talk through them with me and makes sure I understand all the options. The office is clean and bright, and everyone at the front desk is friendly and professional. If you hate getting your eyes dilated for exams, they have a machine that will take a picture of your eyes in lieu of drops/dilation. They do sell frames at the office so if you get a prescription, you can get your frames right in the office. They're great about working with me to help me find frames that are mostly or wholly covered by my insurance plan. Because there are a lot of medical offices in the area, parking can be a little tough on the side streets, but if you're willing to walk a little bit, there's usually parking up on Olive. There's also a pay garage near the building. I highly, highly recommend EVEC! read more
