Probably one of the cleanest spa in NYC I've been to! The therapist (Tony) was very skilled, I didn't specify what to focus on because my whole body was tight due to sports. Very "on point" and great pressure, basically got a combo deep tissue/sports massage because of all the areas they took care of. I will return for a foot reflexology massage + back rub combo soon. Well I can only talk about mine I wish I got his name. But he was good. My boyfriend told me that he enjoyed his massage. It was deep tissue but you can tell them to ease up if need be. This spa is great. The location is convenient and affordably priced ,compared to other places that do not provide the best service. One of my main must-haves is cleanliness. This spa is spotless - including outside of the front entrance. During these times, I feel like massage therapy spas should be considered an essential business. Personally, I'd come here every week or maybe even twice a week sometimes. Mary and Kelly did a massage for me on separate occasions. They are both wonderful. I highly recommend this place. My routine services include the foot reflexology along with at the very least , a 60 min hot stone massage There is nothing negative about this spa. I guess the main lesson here is "you get what you pay for." At first I thought "full body massage for $55? Sign me up!" But clearly there's always a catch. I got a full body massage and, while I've had less than great massages before, I've never had one where I was so uncomfortable in wanted it to end. My masseuse was way too rough and I'm not even fully sure she has any sort of certification because it felt like she was just ramming her fists into my back with no rhyme or reason. The woman at the front desk was sweet however the masseuse who gave me a massage apply so much pressure that some areas of my back are sore. Just left this place and it was amazing! Scheduled a massage in celebration of my 30th birthday. My husband and I got the 60 min back 30 min feet treatment and were able to have two beds in the same room. The spa was clean and practicing safety measures. We felt comfortable the whole time. I came here a few months ago needing my neck worked on after a bad nights sleep. The masseuse was super rough and at first I felt like it was what I needed to get the knot worked out. However, he then started chopping at my neck/shoulders as if I was made of bricks and I started getting flashes of white. Literally never had that happen before. My girlfriend went yesterday to get her shoulders worked on and she had to ask multiple times for them to be more gentle. Fast forward to today and she is covered in bruises. COVERED! She came home worse than she was before. No reason for these people to be beating people up as hard as they do. read more

Price is good and the foot massages used to be better. I've gone back a few times in the past 6 months hoping to land on a good massage therapist but I have been disappointed. (I'm not sure we can even call them massage therapists to be honest.) I think the issue is lack of training and little sense of how to give a relaxing massage. I went here yesterday and my experience was not the best. The staff is nice and the place is clean but the massage was terrible. The staff needs to be trained because all I felt was elbows and knuckles all over my back, neck and legs. I went home feeling sore. I had to take Motrin to elevate the pain, I also went with my friend and she had to buy a heating pad for her back. I won't be going back to Bergen Spa again However, today I received a call from probably the owner and he apologized and made the situation right. I truly appreciate his call and understanding. This place is legit! The best part is the value you get for the price. I love that they have soothing music and haven't crammed in a bunch of massage rooms into a tiny space (hello Chinatown). I think they use a combination of Swedish, deep tissue, and other massage techniques. I think if you asked for focus on specific areas or pressure level, they would accommodate. One massage didn't magically solve my back problems, but I'll definitely be coming back. TMI sidenote: a full body massage really is full body. Great value for a foot massage. The vibe is down to earth but clean and relaxing. The back massages are more of a mixed bag, some are good and some are not as good although I haven't had an amazing one. When I arrived, I was greeted and brought right to a place for my foot massage. The space was open, airy, and bright - the foot station is near the door- and I felt very comfortable. The massage was good, a nice amount of pressure and then I finished with a neck massage. The neck massage could've been a little stronger, but a nice experience. Tried to give Bergen Spa a shot this past weekend, and paid for the couples massage. This was probably the worst spa experience I've ever had! We both left with bruises on our bodies. The male masseuse pressed his elbow in the back of my neck and head and bent my knee back without asking if I had any injuries (tore my knee 10 years ago but still I don't like it being bent backwards). He was also massaging very fast, so just like the opposite of comforting and relaxing. I don't know if this place is under new management but would not recommend it. The massage at Bergen Spa (60 minute back) seems to be a mix of Thai, hot stone, shiatsu, and strong Asian lady punishing me for being a dick to my mom when I was a teen. For 1 hour massage, it's a flat $48. That's it! But wait - I wanted a full body for couples - has to be more money right? Nope, $48 each and we get a bigger room with two tables. You also get to pick which type of massage so we decided to go with deep tissue. The entrance is welcoming, spacious and clean. The beds were surprisingly realllyyy comfortable, felt like memory foam. The room was spacious for two people and nice and toasty on a freezing day. Our massages were amazinggg and so were our ladies. They even threw in the hot stones (which I would go back for instantly). A few days later and now I'm feeling a little sore but it's fading and I needed the pressure. My boyfriend and I have already decided to make this a monthly thing! This is an updated review: I've been going here for about a year...what happened guys? To start: the front desk. Confused and unorganized. I was brought in 20 minutes after my appointment time and after two walk-ins. The space: what is with the beach towels? I can't get past this. They are as scratchy and tacky as the paper you lie down on (think doctors office chair cover paper). The massage: I can't. I've had some good massages here, but they are so beyond inconsistent. The last three have been the same: careless and frenetic. The therapist working on me tonight lacked social cues and intuition working quickly and HARD without noticing that I was clenched and in actual pain. The massage was comically bad and borderline abusive. I left with more anxiety than I arrived with. I've given this place many chances and will not be returning. read more

Let me start of by saying I was 15 minutes late because I couldn't find a parking I called twice once when I was looking for parking and once when I was walking over after I got a parking and can I tell you about how understanding and patient the manager was. When I walked in she was very friendly showed us to our room. I came in for a couples massage with my boyfriend. It was very very clean! Which to me is a big plus. The music puts you in a zen mood. I checked in and I got a free 10 minutes. Far as pricing I paid $126 that included a $15 tip each so it's $48 each for a 70 minute quality massage. I mean hell yes! They gave us mini waters at the end of our session which I needed! The masseuse for both of was great. We each had no complaints for this place. My overall experience was great! I just had to write this review! I saw Lucy today for a hour back massage (only $48) and omg! She went to work on my back!! The entire time she frequently checked on me to make sure she wasn't causing any discomfort which was really sweet. I love firm massages and she was perfectly firm in the right areas then softer in the right areas. She literally got every single existing knot out of my back and I had a ton from work stress, working out, and bad posture at my work desk. What I was even more amazed about was that she actually gave me full body - legs, feet, arms, neck, my head AND finished with hot stones! I left on cloud nine, happy, and ready for a nap lol!
