I came to Zu Yuan Spa after seeing it recommended on Reddit, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. I got a one-hour full body massage for just $55, which is an incredible value. My masseuse was fantastic--very attentive and really worked out all my trouble spots. He went hard (which I personally appreciate) and checked in to make sure the pressure was right. My daughters and I came here after lunch in Chinatown. First off, the location has changed to 6 Elizabeth Street, about a block from the original location. I got a foot massage and then a bit of shoulders, etc. my girls both got the full body massage. Price can't be beat. Definitely have cash for tip! $20 tip per massage is standard here. I've been going to one of their competitors in the area for a while because it was the main spot a long time ago, but it has grown too big that it feels like a factory almost & the massages are a hit or miss. That said I found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a go! I'm so happy I gave it a shot. I love how it feels super cozy, comfy with all the chairs in the front for foot massages and the other half were the body massage space. The people there are super friendly and nice! In terms of the massage, I will say, the first time I went I got a female masseuse and it was just OK. I wouldn't go again for her. The second time around I brought my bf and I got James. Stopped in Zu Yuan Spa on a recent visit to NYC and came away decently impressed with the offerings at Zu Yuan Spa in Chinatown. It's located on the second floor of a four story walk up on Canal Street. They offered services ranging from the traditional foot massage to a full body experience. Ambiance was not their speciality, but getting the service requested and fulfilled you will be. Foot massage chairs lined the front of the room while curtains separate the massage beds. The price offered here for the return on service was pretty good. The massage specialist used good pressure, albeit sometimes a little too hard, but one might expected that since they're not really a trained massage therapist. The room is tight and the space is restrictive, especially where it's located right on Canal Street. Overall, for the service they offer and the cost of their services and the location of their establishment, it's an overall good value for me and definitely somewhere worth visiting if you're in need of a massage in NYC. read more

Great place for a foot massage after walking around New York City and doing the Brooklyn Bridge walk! Chinatown is right off of the bridge and it's just a short walk to Zu Yuan. It is by appointment only so call ahead. I do feel like they will work you in as best they can as well we were there. Several people showed up and they asked them to come back in 30 minutes or an hour.. there is a little sign down on the street, but you might pass this place by as it is a small entryway between two businesses and on the second floor. Once you enter, they've done a lot to try and make it peaceful and relaxing inside. The staff are very friendly. The massage was very good. Came by for a foot massage the other day and it was a decent experience. The massage parlor was hard to locate across the street and I had to look up to see the signage for the second floor. Once on the correct side of the street, there seems to be an intercom to be buzzed in. A host came downstairs to pick me up. The massage parlor is divided up into ~10 foot massage loungers along with a dozen or so body massage areas with curtains as dividers. Informed the host that I was looking for a strong masseur for a one hour foot massage and the host brought me to my lounger. The masseur started off with a warm towel service before starting the foot massage using lotion. The masseur was decent hitting pressure points. Most of the massage parlor was quiet with spa music in the background. Someone at the front desk had their mobile on ring for the entire massage parlor to enjoy the phone notifications and ringtones when calls were coming in... a touch annoying...but ok. This is my second time getting a foot massage and I would say that I had an amazing experience here. The place was quiet and relaxing, chairs were super comfy and all the masseuse knew what they were doing! This is the first massage I've gotten in NYC, and it did not disappoint. Located on the 2nd floor of a building in Chinatown, this place is easy to miss if you don't know what you're looking for. My friend recommended it to me, and I'm so glad I decided to check it out! I made an appointment 2 days in advance, and they were able to fit me in without a problem. Once I got there, I saw that the waiting room was quite full, so I'm happy I made an appointment! The check-in process was quick and easy, and my masseuse led me to my massage table. It's a casual office with curtains dividing the massage tables and offering privacy. Each massage table is equipped with a plastic box to store your belongings and clothing in. I booked an appointment for a 1-hour full-body massage for $55 before tip (note that they expect at least a 20% tip!). There was definitely more of a focus on back and shoulders, but it was great. They work from your head to your toes, including scalp and foot massage. The amount of pressure was perfect, and towards the end, the masseuse used hot stones and a warm towel for excess oil, which I was not expecting! The stones felt incredible. Even though the tables are divided using curtains, I really did not notice much background noise. I met up with a friend and walked all around and our feet started to hurt. I asked if she wanted a foot massage and of course she said yes! Zu Yuan Spa is in the second floor of a building, blink and you might miss it. You have to press a button and they'll buzz you in. Inside is relaxing with soft Chinese music and lanterns. Our foot massages were amazing - they did a really good job and managed to massage away our aches and pains from walking so much. However, and I say this with regret, but full transparency, the thin paper cover, does not provide adequate sanitary measures for your face cradle, and the blanket that they used over me did not feel the freshest. My husband and I came here as a last minute massage. They were quick to accommodate us and very friendly. I got a 60 minute foot massage and my husband got 90 minute massage, both were great. I am pregnant and they took that into consideration which was a plus. Reasonable prices, comfy chairs and the bathroom is clean. I'd tried a couple of bougie places prior to this one but always left unsatisfied, feeling no different as my knots were still there! I really appreciate that the deep tissue massage here is actually deep tissue, which hurts like a mofo - as it should if you're super knotted (like me lol), but afterwards you'll leave feeling super light and rejuvenated. The place is clean, the masseuses are professional, and the price is very fair. Please tip the masseuses well! They're open for business alright. I don't get massages often and usually when I do it's to get a knot out of my shoulder/neck area when I sleep on it wrong Zuyuan is my goto place for simple table massages. The price is right and they open late with a good location and clean enough setting. Note they do get busy so i would call ahead to see how busy they are. Sometimes there are many tourists. I usually get the 45min Chinese tui-na for $35. I usually tip $7-10 bucks. Pressure is strong. They speak mandarin more than Cantonese. Boss lady speaks English as well. This place came highly recommended by one of my aerial friends. I called ~12pm on a Friday and they were able to take me in at 4pm for 1 hour full body massage and 15 min foot massage. The staff are polite, accommodating, and do everything they can to make sure you have a good experience. I liked the red decorations and calming zen music, which wasn't too loud. The massage table was comfortable as well as the recliners in the front area. They give you the option to choose lotion or no lotion. The lotion isn't scented or overpowering, which I appreciated bc I have sensitive skin. My masseuse did an excellent job of working out my knots and tense shoulders and back. This is my first time at their new location on Canal, but I had been to the Mott Street location and always had a great massage. Their prices have, understandably, risen somewhat, but $45 for a 1 hour foot massage? Still an amazing deal. Their new location is super clean and a little nicer - looks less cluttered than the last one. I have had 3 surgeries on my left foot as the result of an old fracture and as a result, I have a lot of tension from walking weirdly on that side. The masseuse I saw yesterday was great! Avoided the actual surgery site (the most recent surgery was two months ago and scars hurt for a while), but put a lot of effort to massage the area around. My foot today feels so much less tight and painful than it was before this massage. For people who balk at the tipping...seriously? These masseuses put in real effort for up to a full hour and the cost is $45. If you booked this at a chain massage place, this would be double the price, at least. If you're so cheap that you can't slip a person $10 or $15 (bringing the total to a still super cheap $60), then just don't come. read more

This place is definitely a staple in Manhattan's Chinatown at this point. When I lived in NYC I used to come here about once every month or two and they never disappoint! They work really hard to ensure you get a good experience and they somehow can almost always accommodate last minute appointments. If you're not used to how NYC's massage spots operate, you might be a little confused when your masseuse waits for you at the end of your massage waiting for their cash tip. Most of the workers rely on tips and I always try to be generous and leave at least $20-30 per hour of massage depending on how much I enjoyed it. Being from Canada where a one hour of RMT (registered massage therapy) costs about $120, the prices here are crazy given how much effort they put into your massage. I always come back here or to Coco Spa in Flushing when I'm back in town! I usually do a 45-60 min back massage with 30 min foot and I leave this place feeling great. read more
