I came in for my appointment that was scheduled on Tuesday of the same week for that Thursday. I came in to find out that they accidentally scheduled me for the next Thursday even though they verified 11/6 on the phone. My doctor, Logan,was fabulous and the worker before him, Susan, was also incredible. I was told before leaving my appointment and verifying my email multiple times that I would receive my prescriptions that night. The next day I still hadn't received them so I called back and they verified my email a fourth time to then only send me one of my two prescriptions. I had to call back a second time to finally receive all of my prescriptions. The customer service side isn't there for how expensive eyeglasses and contacts are. I found Dr Gwin because the Berks Eye care came highly recommended. The staff, techs, and doctors was so helpful!! They followed the CDC guidelines and I felt safe. When I had ran out of contacts. Doctors are okay, but the staff is rude and impatient. Also, they are seriously overpriced for the frames they offer. I've since moved on to a new vision center who are MILES better than this place. I've purchased COACH frames for the same price as my NineWest frames from Berk... doesn't sound right does it? Please, don't waste your time or money. read more

awful business practice. They broke my brand new frame and refused to provide money for it. Initially they promised to reimburse if I order a new frame. New frame was ordered and they refused. I had to order a new frame and I got lenses from somewhere else. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I have been going here for years and I never really got a good vibe from the staff. They seem to change doctors quite often so that is a big issue with me. The staff are rude and uncaring. I kept going despite these things...today was the final straw. I called to ask if I was due for an exam and the lady was just rude and uncaring. I can not be the first to experience these issues. If I could, I would give them a negative 5 stars. Today, I am finally free of Berk Eyecare. Good luck with future patients. I think a class on how to effectively, efficiently and pleasantly handle real people would do the staff some good. read more

I came in for my annual exam about a month ago. I was fitted for contacts and glasses. I asked for my prescriptions upon leaving my exam and was told that the doctor wanted to see me in the contacts/trials after a week. I was unable to make the appointment and ask that the doctor finalize my prescription for contact lenses and that my rx be mailed to me. A month later after following up 4 times I finally have my RX. Shouldn't have taken a month to receive. Front desk associates are unfriendly. Over the phone they are disorganized and do not follow through. And some of their associates are just down right rude. read more

The customer service is awful. My elderly mother came in to purchase glasses. The reception area was empty. We were not allowed to see frames and it was during their posted business hours. We did not feel welcomed. Don't waste your time here. If I could give them a negative 5, I would. They don't deserve 1 star. read more

This place is dreadful! Don't waste your time. Rude and unprofessional office staff. I searched on Internet for a business nearby whom had a large selection of frames and your business popped up. I walked in your place thinking I could browse around. Not here...ID was requested and we were told we must complete this stack of forms before we could look at glasses. I sat in this waiting room with with my 90 year old mother for over 15 mins and was never told we could look at frames. I'm sure they were doing a background check. I got up and left and took our business elsewhere. It was funny when I mentioned the business name, they knew right away what happened to us. Shame on you, Berk! Review your office policy and train your staff on customer service! Don't waste my time with advertising your selection of glasses, if I need an appointment to see them! You get the "WORST" customer service award for the month of December 2015! read more

When I first started going to the Gahanna location everyone was professional, nice and friendly. Customer service declined a bit for me and I witnessed very poor treatment to an elderly client. I was hesitant on returning but they kept calling to schedule an appointment. It was a mistake going back. The receptionist, and the young man that did the initial testing said just enough to get the information they needed. The optometrist was okay. There was an intern there that was trying hard to be exceptionally nice. They used to sanitize the equipment and provide protection if your skin touched an area (I had to ask), check the glasses you already owned, clean them and readjust if needed, give you shades because your eyes were dilated and take time to help with looking for new frames that fit. None of this happened today, well the intern did try by bringing me frames to try on but they just didn't fit because most of them were for men. I decided not to buy frames there and I left the office feeling some kind of way and thinking no way am I going back there. Now I understand why they kept calling me to schedule an appointment and why the waiting room was empty!!! read more

Went here because I have VSP insurance. I should have trusted my instincts and not even gone inside. The office is gross and dirty. Chairs in the very very outdated waiting room are dirty and have probably never been cleaned. Should have opted for the metal folding chair. Eye exam was just ok. Agree with previous comments about the staff, especially the front desk receptionist. Pretty unfriendly and impersonal. Doctor was just ok, did not really explain my test results and no personality. I should have known given the fact that I called and got an appointment within a day. Carpet throughout the office is gross and worn. Not that I planned on laying down, but I definitely noticed. Frame selection was terrible. Needless to say, I didn't purchase any glasses here. I will not be returning and would certainly not recommend. read more

To each his/her own. Had been patients for a number of years, having started to go there based on a referral. Always arrived on time, always paid our bills at time of service. Now, they are demanding insurance cards that have nothing to do with purpose of requested visit, and the receptionists are frankly rude in how they handle it. Their rationale? "People don't always pay their bills." But, they've never had that problem with us. It's bad business to start treating good, proven customers like bad ones. Why should they stay with you rather than leave and go elsewhere where they will be appreciated and treated properly? Seems patients aren't being treated as people there requesting a service, but as opportunities for these guys to try to bill their insurance as much as possible, and infants unable to manage their own lives. My husband uses this office and likes it. My issue is not with the office. My issue is that I WAS a new patient and I requested an appointment online. I got a phone call a few hours later from a staff member. I was waiting on a call from my sons doctor and was checking my phone at the same time Berk called and I accidentally declined the call. I understand the lady on the other end didn't know that, however, the voicemail I received from her sounded so incredibly rude and irritated that I immediately decided to take my business elsewhere. read more

I visited this business today for the first time and left angry and bewildered. The receptionist was very rude and unhelpful. She cost this eye center business. I have been forced by my employer, the largest in central Ohio, to choose an eye center which accepts VSP insurance. I'm looking for glasses and have been shopping around for frames. Thus far, I have not found frames I really like. I went to Berk today to view frames and hopefully purchase glasses. There are no eyeglass frames on display for viewing. The receptionist informed me that I needed to complete three forms in order to look at frames as she needed to know if I were who I said I was. I explained to her that I first wanted to see what frames they offer. I have insurance; I have money. What a waste of time as I wasn't sure they had frames I would like. I left. In addition to glasses, I also wear contacts and get a yearly eye exam. I may get LASIK in the future. This lady cost this center my business and my referrals to coworkers. I advise going to Optic Nerve Polaris that is where I will do my business. They have a large frame selection, courteous staff and extended hours. Forget Berk Eye Care! read more
