My nearsightedness was much worse after they put the new lenses in. I used to see things like reading book titles on a shelve, I now cannot read them without my glasses. No one really explained why that is the way it is. I still have floaters. I can see much better at night now! read more

I was there 4 years ago for the same reason recurring issue that I have had for 35 years. So when I went to day I saw the same doctor as before. After 30 seconds he said there is a new issue causing my cornea erosion. It's your bottom eye lid not the accident from years ago. Go see my colleague and get surgery to fix the lower eye lid. So what about the cornea ? Oh. That's fine. Treated the problem totally different. Went to car called and go second opinion and cornea fixed by noon. The receptionist and tech who did my medical chart were great. However. The doctor was lost for words and out the door fast when he looked at the chart and saw it was him 4 years ago who treated me. I very much regret not doing my due diligence before choosing an eye doctor. I was recommended by a doctor I see for migraines, so without thought I decided to go ahead and make an appointment. When I first arrived, my appointment time should have been at 2 o'clock, but the person made it for 2 but a month later. They were able to squeeze me in a little later that day, so I sat in the waiting room and waited. No real apology, just kept saying I don't know what she was thinking. When I first went back, I was with Jill a technician who was highly rude. I felt so uncomfortable. I tried to start conversation to potentially break the ice, but she was so stoned faced and rude. Anytime she would ask me a question it would be accompanied by an odd look. She just looked like she wanted to be somewhere else. The other technicians were friendly and fine. Almost towards the end of my visit I first saw Maha Jabbar, OD. She was nice and friendly, but when she left the room came back she told me that they failed to do an eye exam that was supposed to be done prior to my eyes being dilated so she wasn't sure what prescription I should go with. Right before leaving, I met Doctor Erdey. He was just OK. He mentioned that I needed to just go to Walgreens and play around with the strengths. He said not to get readers but actual glasses and I have yet to find a place that has glasses at Walgreens that are not readers. I did ask him if I was near or farsighted and he said both so I was unsure of what type of glasses to really look for. I then asked him if he thought it would be easier or better for me just to get a prescription and he said go to Walgreens first and then get back to me in a month. Obviously he didn't want to prescribe me anything because they failed to do testing before being dilated. Instead of coming back, he kept telling me how it was just cheaper to go to Walgreens. In all honesty, I'm not even sure if what he told me was correct because when I went to try them on at Walgreens, I couldn't see very well with them. I don't understand why they wouldn't just ask me to come back another day. I wholeheartedly regret going here and I wish I could take it all back. What is more disappointing is due to my insurance, I can only get this type of eye exam once a year. I will now have to wait a whole year before I can see another doctor. Dr. Erdey absolutely ruined the entire 3.5 hour experience for me - like hands down, completely ruined the entire experience that I ended up cancelling my follow-up appointment. After two and a half hours of being seen, treated, and tested by various nurses and optometrists (who were all very kind, knowledgeable, and walked me through every process and question that I had), Dr. Erdey walks in without introducing himself, sits down, starts typing things on the computer, calculates something on his cell phone, and then proceeds to tell me that the issue that I have..."I have surely had all my life". Ummm. No sir. I'm here because I haven't had this issue my entire life and I'm actually concerned which is why I went to my family doctor who referred me to you! He was seriously going to send me home after two and a half hours of testing...without doing anything! I was seriously annoyed. After explaining to him that I haven't had this issue forever and explaining to him what was actually going on, he proceeded to tell me "That doesn't make sense. That's not even possible". He then walked out and grabbed an optometrist to do some more testing. She rubbed me the wrong way as well as she took the drawing that another optometrist had me draw (so that they could understand the "halos" that I'm seeing when drawn to light). At this point I'm thinking, "Are you seriously not trying to help me?" She proceeded to tell me that they would have to do more testing "as the correct testing was not done" ; however, since they had dilated my eyes, they couldn't do any further testing that day. Mind you - this was already after three and a half hours of seeing various individuals now and going through various testing. Dr. Erdey never came back either. I scheduled my follow up appointment knowing that I wasn't going to return and ended up cancelling it shortly after. I will never return to this ophthalmologist/office and highly suggest that no one else wastes their time there either! read more

There are certain test that require you to put drops in your eyes prior to evaluating your eyesight. This office uses a single bottle of that liquid, spread over multiple customers. They don't use an eye dropper, so you can grab the solution, separate it from it's pure source, then drop it in your eye independently. They have one bottle that everyone (every single customer) brings to their eye, makes contact with it, over and over again, repeatedly, till it's out. I made a comment about capillary action, and concern for infection, to the representative administering the test on me. She told me I had nothing to worry about. I know better. QA, protocols...people may not like these things but they're there for a reason. read more

After several years of successful treatment at this practice, I elected to have cataract surgery. After the surgery I was sent home with no eye drops and no patch. Within five days my eye became inflamed and very painful. I was seen in the office the next day and was put on eye drops. Two weeks later I was seen again, with no improvement. I was told the eye drops take a while to work and was given a one month recheck appointment. The two doctors I saw at that time seemed unconcerned and spent very little time with me. During that month my eyesight continued to deteriorate and I visited another practice. I was immediately sent to a retina specialist and had surgery one week later. The surgery removed the vitreous from my eye then an inflamed membrane was removed. This was not a simple surgery and I was not guaranteed improvement. I am still in the process of healing; do not know the final outcome but I am hopeful. With proper after surgery care and some proper attention given to my vision loss, I feel this second (more invasive surgery) could have been avoided. read more

My father, Samuel had an appointment for 3:15 pm and we got there early. After over an hour of waiting and them taking in patients who showed up 30 minutes after we did, we left. This was just a follow up to what's supposed to be the first of two cataract surgeries but I guess they weren't interested in examining dad's eye after the surgery. My husband and I both had cataract surgery this past spring. This story is too long to give ALL the details. My husband's vision is 20-20 but he has weird halos at night with any light source, like a dandelion flower in seed. He was told he could have an additional surgery to correct that. Cost?? No idea. He still wears reading glasses which I surmise is typical because of slight astigmatism. My vision is seriously lacking. While the color difference in my vision, because of no more cataracts, is remarkable, I'm having problems that I never had before. I now have floaters I never had, a circular floater that is constantly in the middle of my field of vision is a big problem. I have what I can only describe as " wobbly vision" allot of the time. I get crescent shaped lights at the side of my vision field ,too. I now have pain in one eye and the surrounding area, never a problem before. I still need bi-focals which don't work, another story. I can't do bright lights at all, I also have the dandelion effect, night driving is totally out of the question for me. I have read the reviews about long waits and so may different doctors and nurses. These are very true statements. After the surgery we were both seen for follow ups which went well, until my vision problems started. I lost track of how many times I was seen , every time a multitude of doctors and nurses, finally saw the doctor. Then more tests, more people, more eye drops. No improvement. On the last visit I was told that cataract surgery cannot correct all symptoms. I understand that, but these are problems I did not have. No one seemed to care. I was told that my pupil response to light is not normal. Mine do not constrict as they should. I was given eye drops for dry eye for this pupil problem?? I used them once and had a severe reaction. The on call doctor said I should stop using them. REALLY?? I guess I am too stupid to know that. Anyway, the last and final visit was my choice. After all the run around, no one seemed to care, the doctor came in and sat at his computer, typing something, had his back to me and said ," we're done here, if you need me track me down." And waved me off. Never turned to even look mu way. I have not been back. One more thing. I was recently sent a bill telling me I had 2 weeks to pay my bill. Firstly, I was never billed previously, now they are giving me what seems to be an ultimatum?? I paid the bill by credit card only to find out the very next day my card was hacked. I checked and their payment never was posted. So I paid them online with another card. Low and behold, the other card AND the new one were charged, within a day of one another. You would think they would have caught that. Nope. I was charged twice. I am still attempting to get in touch with them. You get put on hold for an extremely long time, they pick up the phone and immediately put you on hold again, over and over and over. So, I may have to make the hour long trip to go to the office to straighten out something that should have been simple to do. Good luck to you if you choose this particular group. read more

Because of my diabetes I've been a patient here for almost 3 years. I can't say enough about the office. They do take a little longer then a regular eye doctor but they run all the tests they need to for a diabetic patient. First I see a technician, then an optometrist and then Dr Searcy. I can see clearly, thanks to him! Dr. Erdey is an expert eye doctor. He performed implantable contact lens procedures on me and my parents. It's been life-changing to finally not have to mess with glasses or contacts. The procedure was one of the best decisions I've made. Now, I have yearly appointments at his office and haven't had any problems with my implantable contact lenses. I had my yearly appointment with Dr. Searcy today - once again outstanding, skilled, expert care. The physicians at this practice truly care about providing the highest possible patient care. I read other yelp reviews which did not give these physicians or staff high ratings, from my experience (work in healthcare) some patient's would never be happy or satisfied . Patient's can make their visit with the physician go much smoother - remember to have current insurance information with you at the time of the visit and picture ID and make a list of questions you may have for the physician prior to your visit. Erdy, Searcy Eye group are the BEST !!!!!!! I now have 20/20 vision. I would not recommend Dr Searcy to anyone. My husband and I have been seeing him for several yrs. He failed to diagnose me with myasthenia gravis and failed to diagnose my husband with glacoma. He did not cooperate with another Dr my husband was seeing that was asking for info about my husband. Needless to say we were very disappointed with our experience with the practice. read more

I was referred here by my primary doctor for more thorough testing than I have received for several years. Since it was a very thorough exam I knew it would take a while. At first I was a little annoyed because they sent me paperwork and had scheduled my appointment without calling me. When I called to change it the first receptionist was very cold and flat with me. She kept telling me that all of the doctors were full for the dates that I was wanting. So I decided to keep the appointment, then I realized that I couldn't because I had something scheduled around the same time. I called back and the second receptionist was very warm and kind. She explained that the doctors were not full on the days that I was previously asking about and I made an appointment that was much more convenient for me. On the day of the appointment I walked into a full waiting area and thought I was going to have to wait quite a while before being called back but that wasn't the case. I was called back right at my appointment time and the appointment took just a smidge over 2 hours (which they tell you to expect a 2 hour appointment on the paperwork they send you)! I could not be happier with the service that I received not only from Dr. Erdey but also from all of the other doctors, nurses, and assistants. Everyone was very friendly and understanding when I asked questions or needed help understanding something. They also made sure they sent a copy of my records to both doctors that would need them. I walked out very satisfied and with an appointment for next year. If you are looking for an excellent and thorough doctor to look at your eyes then look no further! This office is amazing! This is not an in and out, just give you a prescription place. They actually take time to check your prescription and your eye health which is extremely important! I will recommend them to anyone who is in need of an eye doctor. They care about their patients and the patients eye health and want to make sure that you are taken care of. My wife had cataracts surgery and can't tell you how poor of an experience it was. The doctors and their staff were all very rude. I would give them zero stars if possible. During the surgery my wife had to listen to the Doctor yelling at his staff about how the tools were not sharpened correctly (not something you want to hear) the entire time! Then, they made a huge deal about my wife forgetting the $5 glasses they give you in the car. They came out with a huge attitude with me about them (only to find out they had went on and on with my wife over them). Needless to say, she came out in tears. We paid over $6,000 for this surgery and all they care about (and I do mean ALL they care about) is their stupid plastic glasses. read more

I DARE ask when she's going back because her appointment was an hour ago, and the head nurse YELLS at me. So of course I yell back to quit yelling. All I need to know is if I have time to get my daughter from preschool... how dare they be held accountable to appointments and schedules. Then they try to refuse to allow me back with her while she is being prepped. Act like I started the confrontation... of course I told them I was going back wether they like it or not, then I was sweet as pie as they continued to talk nasty to me. Questioning wether she should be living alone... are you her dr? Um no you're just a nurse! Later the same nurse that yelled at me approached me to give me a paper on elderly care ( I told her prior do not talk to me gain) the nurse that took her back for surgery kept going on and on about how my grandmother shouldn't live alone. I had my cataract surgery in December and they were very professional but I could not go back in January due to a bad case of bronchitis so my first appointment was in February and my vision had gotten worse. They started me on drops and scheduled me to come back in March. My vision has gotten steadily worse since and I have had to go back every month for another appointment. It is now June and my vision has gone steadily down hill even though I have been taking 3 different drops 4 times a day. I am now scheduled to see another surgeon in mid June. This is nothing what I expected as my vision is cloudy and I have spent a lot of time and money on appointments and eye drops. I do not recommend Erdey Searcy eye group for cataract surgery. read more

My grandmother went in for surgery this morning 2/14/19 at 730AM. After being taken back and 2 hours going by a nurse told the waiting room the Dr performing the surgery was running late and had yet to arrive. Once Dr.Gallows did arrive he told my grandmother he forgot to plug his phone in and his man cave was to dark to wake him. I understand this happens but when it's something as important as a surgery and now the DR is behind you have to wonder the quality you are getting and the surgery on her eye lids seems to show that not enough was removed from one eye. We will need to wait for healing to be sure. Then on top of that once they are finished a nurse bring the patient in this case an 80yr old women out with paperwork and thrusts them into the person who is transporting them home arms and goes back to work. You would think they would put them in a wheelchair and allow for a car to be pulled around given these people are coming off of anesthesia and are a fall risk. I would recommend looking for a different group for your eye care needs. read more

Erdey Searcy may be out of touch with his front desk customer service staff and may need to take on some further investigation. Possible he doesn't actually care. A close family member was referred to this center by her Primary Care. No problem, gave a call, the reception cold transferred to a supervisor and created a missed opportunity to offer Excellent customer service. I heard the story, called back, and spoke with the front desk supervisor...She defended her staff member to the bitter end of our conversation while pretending to understand my point, blah blah blah, but....., ridiculous really! Is that what Customer Service Supervisors are doing now-a-days, Extremely unprofessional! Also, I then asked to speak with the office manager, someone else, HE, after l left a VM, never returned my call. They also claimed to have no idea when he would actually be available. Is he not salary, what the what? These folks are doing whatever they please with Searcy's potential customers/money. I'm sure he's clueless of all of his missed business opportunities, New long term customers, etc. I have names but decided not to include them. This place is a Joke!!! The technician and optometrist who examined my mom were helpful and thorough. We were told Dr. Searcy would answer any questions about possible surgery my mom might have to have. Dr. Searcy came in and didn't even make eye contact with us. He looked over my mom's chart, said everything looked okay, and was ready to dismiss us. He didn't once examine my mom and I asked one question as we were being ushered out the door. This incredibly bad experience will probably cost us hundreds of dollars for less than 5 minutes of this pompous doctor's time. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. He could not be bothered to talk to us about her medical condition and we won't be going back. read more

I am writing this review because I was very disappointed with the way I was treated at this doctor's office. I spent 3 hours waiting in several waiting areas, was seen my 2 assistants then finally by Dr. Kaswinkel for 5 minutes. My appointment was for a simple eye exam and spent my entire morning waiting to be seen. I paid my $40.00 co-pay for my insurance was assured I was covered then billed $337.00 for 5 minutes of this Dr. time. OVERLY ANNOYED WITH MY EXPERIENCE HERE... SO MUCH THAT I DECIDED TO WRITE THE REVIEW IN ALL CAPS, WHILE DIALATED, WHILE STILL IN THE OFFICE! I arrived 30+ minutes before the start of my appointment and was not called back until almost 30 min after the appointment. I gave the second and third star because the staff is very nice, but I am a person who values my time over an overly nice staff. (Just me). The office is clean and is nicely located. The staff is well versed in their niches. I wouldn't recommend scheduling this appointment in the afternoon or if you have somewhere to be afterward. I scheduled with the hopes of going back to work, but there's literally no point to go back. Its been going on 2 hours at this point. This was not a surgical consult or anything more involved than a checkup. Don't schedule in the pm. Will update my review later once I've had an am appointment... Next year. read more
