I have used Berkeley for my drapes, reupholstered couch, antique chair and antique settee and was very happy with their work. My in-laws used to have an upholstery business and drapery business and they too said they did great work. The only thing I could complain about is timeframe of when it would all be completed. My chair was in bad shape when Berkeley's picked it up to recover the chair. I wish I had kept a before picture so you would have something to compare. All I can say is - OMG WOW! They did an incredible job recovering my chair. It looks much better than what is pictured. The attention to detail is amazing. I stopped by the store to see the finished chair before they delivered back to me. I had them turn the chair over so I could see the underside too. The under side is complete, polished, neat, and tidy. I never felt rushed while picking out material. I felt like I was important to them whether it be a phone call, in the store, sending email messages, etc. I am very pleased. read more

I went here about a year ago because I wanted to reupholster my rocker that I got on craiglist. Not only was their price great, but the rocker came back in way better shape and you could not tell it was the same chair! They have excellent customer service and always willing to help out. Their location on Preston is so clean and I feel welcome when I am there. I will come back soon for window treatments and custom furniture. The folks at Berkley are fantastic. They were very helpful in guiding me in my choice of fabric for the 1960's vintage chair I wanted to recover. They didn't pressure me to buy their fabric (which is pretty pricey.) they even kept my chair at the store for 2 weeks while i looked for other fabric. When I took delivery of my chair I was very impressed with how they matched the design to the chair. All in all I would highly recommend them to update your furniture. read more

So I'm taking care of a friend's house and 2 dogs. The day after they left was the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. During the walk through of athletes I fell asleep for a couple of hours. I wake up with the pictures I posted. So of course I didn't want my friend to know cause I don't want to ruin there vacation. Now I'm freaking out cause this is a really big and nice couch. I check the internet for a place to save my butt! Berkeley Decor's staff was extremely helpful and understanding of my situation that I presented. I'm completely ignorant when it comes to this kind of fabrication. The staff took the time to explain to me the step by step process they were going to do take with the cusion. When I got the cushion back, a day early than expected, it looked as if nothing ever happened. I was shocked at how great of a job they did! I'm very pleased with there customer service, understanding what I was dealing with and worked with me on the price, according to more experienced people with this issue. They got the cushion back to me a day early from due date, which helped out a ton! The experience was nothing but positive and made me feel right at home!!! P.S. I'll update with a picture of the fixed cushion next time at friend's. You'll be amazed!!! read more

I took in an old corduroy mini rocking chair to be reupholstered and re-padded. The the seat was sinking in. I really didn't have hope for this rocking chair but it was my husbands when he was little so something had to be done. WOW when I got it back it exceeded my expectations. Doesn't surprise me one bit as the customer service is less than optimal and although I have done business with them previously and wanted to recover an old chair they wrote up an invoice which they misplaced only to claim they have never talked to me before. It should be noted to all future customers if they value their furniture there is a high probability that they will lose it or misplace it with their lack of administrative paperwork and failure to communicate. I was very disappointed with Berkley Plano location. I was told it would take 2-4weeks to reupholster my sofa, it took 6+ weeks to finally see the sofa. The skirt was 2 inches short. The bottom cushions are not wide enough. I have recommended the Berkley Carrollton location to several happy customers. I chose this location because we moved and it was closer. . When I came in to Berkeley looking to have my sectional reupholstered I most definitely asked for advice from the staff as to what fabrics would be suitable for the application. At NO POINT in time did anyone bring to my attention that the weave of the fabric I was looking at (from a book that they pulled for me to look at) was more likely to snag than other weaves; I never would have chosen it. Mike did not mention that about the fabric until after the job was finished! I'm not sure why Mike emphasized the word "LIGHT" in his comment.. the color of the couch has never been mentioned. Mike, you might want to check with Erika on some details that you've gotten incorrect. When I came in to address the stains, I mentioned that I was surprised at how the fabric felt. I asked Erika if she would find the sample book to confirm the right and wrong side of the fabric. She asked me "do you think they covered it on the wrong side?". I told her "it seemed like it, but that I could be completely wrong." She assessed the sample book in comparison to the cushion that I brought in, and said "You're right, they did. We'll re-do the whole sectional". I felt horrible and said, "wait, let's slow down." "That's a ton of wasted fabric, and so much wasted work for the upholsterer." I was so uncomfortable with all the waste... ask Erika. I asked if I could think about it.. and she said "What's to think about, it was done incorrectly; let us fix it." I asked what my options were. Erika brought up the possibility of a discount to keep it as is (she'd have to consult the owners), or just let them re-do it. I asked if I could think about it... Erika said "sure". She thanked me for my attitude and I left. I did think about it, and because Erika HAD INDEED told me it was the wrong side of the fabric, I had concerns about the wear and stain repellant aspect of the fabric in comparison to the right side. Based on the information I was given, I decided I had better have it re-done. I emailed Erika to let her know my decision (choosing from the options she had given me) and she replied that the owners had said it was not the wrong side and re-doing it was not an option. She said they would re-do the portion that was stained. Unfortunately the scenario of one person saying it was done on the wrong side and just shy of insisting it be re-done turning into something completely different... left me not trusting the process or Berkeley itself. The vendor's results had nothing to do with my review. My unhappiness was not with vendor but with the Berkeley staff. That initial scenario was disappointing enough even before the fabric starting snagging (on a couch that is barely used). Why would you not tell me a fabric weave may be prone to snagging BEFORE a $2000 job vs. afterwards?!? I was so excited to get this couch re-done, and as I stated before... now, I'm afraid to sit on it, as it truly is prone to snags. Discount for my troubles? No, thank you. read more

Too often people only take time to write reviews when they are unhappy with a service. Well, I want to make sure people are aware that Berkeley Decor does amazing work...period. The owners are very personable and will do anything to make you happy and make the project right. The price is very competitive as compared to Christi's Draperies. I have had projects done from both places and will now always go with Berkeley because I trust the results and the price is better. My first project with Berkeley last year was a custom log chair that I had reupholstered in leather for our cabins. The price was reasonable and it came out really nice! Just recently, I had them redo a couple of antique chairs and ottoman, Bernhardt sofa, and leather bench. All the pieces were beautiful and was done within 3 weeks as promised. It's like getting brand new furniture again but better because I got to pick out the fabric to match my home color scheme It was well worth the money and I highly recommend people consider reupholstering their nice furniture. I had a nice Bernhardt sofa and did the calculation. It does cost less than going out to buy a brand new Bernhardt that I would have to settle for in regards to fabric and color. I was very disappointed with the curtains done by Berkeley Decor. The bottoms are too tightly stitched and don't look smooth. I asked for black out shades and got sheer shades and had to spend extra for additional blackout shades and the curtains in another room were not finished as requested. Overall not satisfied with the work/service. Would not recommend. read more

We went into the store to look for shades for our new house. It's my first time looking into shades. We had curtains in or previous home. I was greeted by ine of their staffs. She was quite helpful, she was pulling out her calculator and punching numbers to help me get an approximate price. A couple minutes into this, someone appeared to be a superior rudely chimed in. She coldly bossed her staff to "just get her information and sent it to her" while walking away. She interrupted her staff and made her customer felt like crap.
