The service is excellent here. Tom and his team are some of the sweetest nail techs that you'll meet. I had a rocky first visit, but Tom reached out to make things right, and it's been great ever since. I've been here a few times now, and I really like this nail salon. It located in downtown Berkeley off of Shattuck. Parking can be tough, but I usually stop in during the evening and have managed to snag a space. Their shop is very clean and cozy. I love that they offer their guests wine (and the good stuff too!). It's never been super busy but it's always nice to meet and chat with the other clients who are there. During my first visit, the ladies who did my mani and pedi were super sweet but not the most efficient. The pedi was a bit rough with the cuticle cutting yet weak with the massage. The gel mani took a while, and at first it appeared to be fine. But once I made it back to the car to take pictures, I noticed how sloppily done it was. There was nail polish all over my cuticles and noticeable paint streaks. After I posted pictures of the job on Yelp, the owner Tom reached out to me and offered to fix it. I stopped back by a few weeks later and what a world of a difference! Tom did my nails himself and they came out beautifully! My pedicure was also much better and the massage was very thorough this time around. Tom and his staff are so accommodating and even stayed a bit later for a client who walked in last minute. Their prices are also some of the most reasonable that you'll find in the area! If you pay with cash, they'll give you a 10% discount. They have lots of colors available here too. I'm so grateful that Tom reached out, and I'm happy that I gave them another chance. This is a great neighborhood nail salon with a super inviting staff and atmosphere. read more

Got my nails done there, they chipped off TWO days after! It was an absolute waste of money. Nails didn't even last a week. When I called over the phone to set an appointment they gave me a price but then changed the price upon arrival, adding 15 $ to original price. I asked for a refund and they refused to do it. Walked in and only had to wait 5 mins while I picked a color. Came for both a manicure and pedicure for graduation and am happy with how both turned out! Tam was friendly and easy to talk to. He offered drinks and gave free flip flops for your nails to dry if you're not wearing open-toed shoes. read more

I love this salon! They're a great team of people who are sweet and put in effort. The owner, Tom, is very kind and offers free bottomless mimosas with every service no matter the time of day. They're not busy at all during the summers, so I encourage giving them your business. My acrylic gel sets in the pictures cost $40. Called 30 minutes before I wanted to come and they were able to immediately make time for me. It was my first time getting acrylics and they did a great job. I wanted a manageable length and they shortened it to my preference and I was able to pull up Instagram pictures for inspo! Also, it was priced at $50 cash which is on the more reasonable end for acrylics! read more

I came here to get to get a gel manicure/pedicure and I was totally blown away by the service and the people who worked here! Everyone was so nice and attentive and made sure that all my needs were met! They offered me to water and if you're 21 a complimentary mimosa! Tom and his crew have great hospitality. If you are 21+ he gives you mimosas otherwise has the option of other free drinks. They are friendly and don't rush to kick you out like other nail shops!! Additionally, it's a family owned Buisness that helps the Berkeley community. Unhoused community members asked for water, blankets and food. Tom provided a fair amount to multiple people with basic necessities for living. He gives back to the community. My new favorite nail shop!!! read more

Omg this place is amazing! I called in for an appointment at 2p and Tom was so accommodating. When I got there, there were 4 other people in the shop and he was the only one working... I thought about just leaving but he made it very clear I was a priority and honored my appointment. He got me seated, helped me pick out a nail color, and gave me a fat glass of mimosa. He didn't start on my nails until about 2:25p but he quickly had me seated when I walked in at 2p so I didn't mind. Tom is the owner and he was the one who did my nails. We had a great conversation and I truly admire his hustle. He has a great business acumen and he was also very kind/accommodating. He even offered to refill my mimosa glass as well as the others girls that were waiting!! So generous!! I also accidentally messed up my own toes as I waited for them to dry and he quickly redid ALL of my nails although he had other girls to attend to. The customer service whoa. 10/10 will come back again. This is my new fav nail spot in Berkeley! read more

Well i don't usually gave 1 star anywhere. I had a terrible manicure in my life. Terrible!!!! I'm trying get a gel mani but my nail polish doesn't looks even. And I mentioned about polish looks like cloudy and i ask politely asked is she going to add 1 more coat and she called a man who's over there working i think lady didn't understand what i said but it's okay I don't care and the man just came in said you can leave!!!! I was so disappointed with them and i said remove the polish then then the man came put my fingers in cup of acetone. Now my skin feels so dry and itchy. They never wrapped my nails with foil. I came here to get a pedicure, and was not disappointed at all! Upon arrival, I was seated in a massage chair and had the foot bath in front of me. They asked if I would like the water temperature adjusted, which I did, and I then got to choose the nail color I wanted. The entire process was super smooth and comfortable. They were extremely attentive during each step and I definitely felt like I was being well taken care of. Honestly, the massage chair was what sent the entire service over the top as it was extremely comfortable and I could've sat there the entire day! The owners are super friendly as well, and my friends and I were able to have a nice conversation with them. Come check out this place! read more

THIS IS MY NEW NAIL SALON! Jose laid a nice foundation and even encouraged me to try a shape other than square, he listened to my concerns and was extra gentle around some cuts I have on my finger. Jose and his employees provide excellent customer service and they have great banter! I have never enjoyed my time in a salon so much as today. I will definitely be coming back!! Called and made an appointment and arrived on time but was made to wait over 30 minutes then told to come back the next day when I asked what the accurate time for my appointment would be. I've tried to support this salon but treating customers like this should not be standard practice. This happened throughout my pregnancy and I tried to give them another chance but this was my last straw read more

I went to Berkeley Pinkies Salon for a polish change. Service was pretty subpar. My nail technician kept digging her nails into my skin, messed up my nailbeds by over buffing them, didn't trim my nails, and just overall was not meticulous or careful. It was $25 for a nail change though, so I guess you get what you pay for. Would recommend for someone who just wants the job done. read more

My two most recent visits gave me the prettiest nails I've ever had. I showed pictures and the results are exactly the same and even better! It feels so good to finally find a nail salon I can come all the time and stop switching from one to one when all doesn't really fits what I want. Highly recommend!! Also, the acrylics removal was so gentle and fast, not one bit hurts. Overall, this is my favorite nail salon around the Berkeley area. Worst experience ever. I asked Mr. Pinky if he could do the design in the inspo picture and he said yes. Not only did he lie about that, but he was also complaining the entire time saying "this is so much work" "im going to need to take a nap." definitely don't recommend getting gel x either, their prep will not last longer than two weeks. read more

I really wanted to support a small business and like this place, but unfortunately would never return. I made an appointment, showed up 5 minutes early, and it still took an hour for them to get started. The pedicure was great, but the manicure was awful. It looks nothing like the photo I showed (two colors, no thin lines, characters, or crazy design), is bumpy, has air bubbles, and already starting to chip at the edge of several nails.. It's only been 3 hours since I left. For context, my last gel manicure done elsewhere that I had them soak off today lasted almost a month (done on 4/21) with no chipping or other issues. I've already made another appointment at a different nail salon to get them fixed tomorrow. read more

She cut it too high, which ruined the whole haircut, especially since my face shape doesn't suit short sideburns. I told her I didn't like it. I didn't overreact or yell, I was just uncomfortable. The hairdresser said, "Too bad!" and tried to dismiss the issue. I told her again that she should have asked me about the length. She then took it personally and told her boss that I was making things up so I wouldn't pay, saying, "They do this so they don't pay." What do you mean by "they"? Not only did I feel dismissed and treated unprofessionally, but also disrespected. I was upset after the whole situation, but even then I was willing to pay and didn't want to leave without paying because I didn't want to prove her point. Plus, it's not that expensive. At the end, the stylist said she had 40 years of experience. Well, after this, it feels like you wasted 40 years and somehow skipped the basics of customer service. Not coming back, even after being offered a free haircut. I would rather pay three times what I paid today for a standard service where you're treated with basic courtesy.

I walked in this week with very healthy hair and left with extreme heat damage, fried ends and…read morechunky uneven yellow highlights. When I stand in the sun, my hair is actually transparent. Virginia, you refunded my payment (thank you) and I wasn't sure whether to write this. I loved the haircuts I got from you before. But you cannot experiment on people's hair like this. And after this I do not think you should be coloring people's hair at all. I asked you directly before we started if you had knowledge and experience with blonde highlights and you said multiple times yes, and that you definitely could make it happen. But it turned out you had no idea how to do blonde bleach, let alone balayage. Once you rinsed out the bleach and saw how bad it looked, you didn't stop what you were doing to share what had happened. Instead of showing me the results, you applied a super-hot curling wand to give me a big hairstyle so I wouldn't notice the highlights. The wand on the new bleach left it with intense heat damage. The hair is falling out as I write this and my whole head stinks of burnt hair. This did not need to happen - you could have simply told me the truth, that you have no idea what you're doing with blonde highlights, and I would have been able to find someone who does, and my hair would still be healthy right now. Please let me be the last person this happens to.
