This is an excellent nail salon! The women who work here are so sweet. Be prepared to spend a good chunk of time here, because the ladies love to chat! E'lan Nail Bar is tucked away on University Ave near Trader Joe's. They offer waxing and nail services. I've been to E'lan twice now. The first time I went, I got a dip manicure. The second time, I got a dip manicure and a regular pedicure. The prices are very comparable to every other salon I've been to. They do a great job. I have been very happy with the shape and the quality. E'lan is extremely clean and tidy. They have a small sitting area in the front that you can wait in, several pedicure and manicure stations, and a waxing room in the back. There is plenty of street parking outside the salon, and the bus gets you there pretty quickly, too. I recommend this nail salon! read more

These people DESTROYED my beautiful, healthy nails! I went to them to get gel nail polished removed and get my nails cut but not painted to take a break. The lady said I had a bunch of coats of nail polish and didn't properly and safely remove them via filing the polish down with an electric nail file. She puts acetone which doesn't seem to work and grabs a cuticle pusher to SCRAPE my nails and remove layers of my natural nails! She didn't even file them correctly and they were jagged and crooked when I got home I thought I still had cuticle left on my nail but upon looking it's literally the demarcation between my old nail and severely filed nail. My nails are so weak I can't remove my retainer from my teeth and I can't even scratch my hair ! Will never ever come back here and suggest no one does either. The lady was nice enough but the language barrier was bad but it was her poor techinical skills and lack of knowledge that did her in. Never ever again. My poor nails I wonder how long it'll take for them to get healthy again . read more

Ok, this is way over due. And this photo was taken 2 weeks after my nails were done. I had called several places near me to try out a new salon since mine closed. This was the only one that had good reviews and seemed friendly. I have officially found a new salon near me. The ladies are extremely nice and accommodating. I showed her a picture and then she convinced me to do a little more to make it cohesive. The ambiance was wonderful they had music playing and the ladies seemed really interested in just getting to know you. I told her I needed something not too extreme because I was having my engagement party. But I can't want to go back and try something else. Also, I can't wait for them to give me a pedicure so I can try their massage chairs. (Ps meters outside for like 25 cents is worth 30 min I think) read more

I scheduled an appointment a week in advance and when I showed up there was no one available. We would have to wait up to probably an hour to get service. The air quality was also so bad. I definitely would not wasting your time and paying for bad service. read more

Great experience! I called ahead and asked if they took walk-ins and they do but I made an appointment for an hour later. It's new so there weren't that many people so they took their time and did a great job. The prices are very reasonable compared to pretty much every other nail salon I looked at. The ladies there were very nice and spoke English but even in their language you can tell they were saying very non offensive things to each other. I heard them speak to the customer with follow up questions in English about the confusion of living on or living in Sacramento. I had a regular manicure and pedicure and they look perfect. I can't wait for the wedding I'm going this weekend. She made nail art that is going to match with my dress. read more

Everything about my visit here was wonderful! It's been years since I have gotten my nails done but I wanted to treat myself. Jenny prepped my nails for a custom gel set then Angel finished with the design. I am in awe of the work done- AMAZING! They made sure I was comfortable in every way, they changed the music, offered water, and was patient with me while I picked out colors for my set and even when I went back to exchange some colors. Today I stopped by this new nail bar on university I live in the neighborhood and was looking to get my feet done. I came and the two ladies greeted me and was so nice. I got in the chair right away and Jenny took care of me she gave me a gel pedicure and a massage that was out of this world. I had my first gel x experience at E'lan and it was a great experience! Hannah and Jenny both worked on my set and they were so kind, meticulous, and caring. It is clear that they have a passion for their craft and delivering on clients' expectations. I asked for a natural/neutral look and they captured exactly what I was envisioning. I was visiting my daughter in town and we decided to get our nails done. We called at about 1 pm and scheduled an appt for 5, for two of us. Both of us had GelX removal and redone. We came at 4.50 and they said our appt was for 5:30. Then, they took one of us at 5:15. One nail tech kept telling me to wait, saying, "almost done - almost done" from 5:30 onwards. At 6:30, my daughter's nails were not finished and mine had not even started. One tech finally came over at 6:45, 15 mins before closing and hours after we had got there - to say, "I can do your nails now if you want." I responded - "no, I have wasted too much time already. " I left the store to take a call in the little vestibule outside, returned and told my daughter that I was leaving to re-park the car. I found out later, that the tech who had offered TO START my GelX removal and redo at 6:45, after I had waited for 2 hours, began telling other customers that I was impatient and did not wait, and that it was not her fault for me leaving. Really?? My understanding is that, only the mom and aunt own the place and are the only two licensed techs. I believe all other techs are unlicensed - but I may be wrong. Disappointed that I *wasted* two+ hours of my time in town with my kid, that I could have done something else. Even more disappointed that a business does not take ownership of their own mistakes and instead speaks poorly of their customers. Is this how business is done now a days? Or are customers just helping unlicensed places thrive? I'm all for supporting small businesses and mom and pop shops. But I'm not spending my money or time (and neither is my daughter) at a place that employs disrespectful individuals who lie and mislead their customers. read more

I came in for a gel manicure on my natural nails, but 1 finger was chipped. I asked if they could do a single extension, they recommended to use builder gel instead. At first, it looked fine, but after it cured, it was noticeably thick and not shaped very well. As a result this one fell off after a week. I also tried to point out that the shaping on my nails looked inconsistent from one finger to the next. The technician told me it was just because my finger widths are different & it's impossible to make them look the same. I understand that natural nails are harder to make uniform (compared to extensions), but I was disappointed with the lack of effort. The gel manicure itself was okay. I got a pink color with chrome powder, it lasted about two weeks. Overall, for around $50, I feel like you get what you pay for. It wasn't a terrible experience, but the attention to detail, especially with the shaping and the builder gel, was lacking. The service was friendly though, and you get a stamp card for every visit.

I had been growing my nails out for weeks, they were long and even I just asked her to make them more narrow. i had to get my nails done for an event that night and even told them about it but ended up sitting on my hands most of the evening instead. I'm honestly embarrassed to have my nails in this state, it's something I treat myself to but I can't afford to pay to get them fixed so quick after getting them done. Totally beyond me how they have decent reviews, the tech was mean and told me how she hated the color (me too! not what i asked for!) and critiqued my cuticles. Completely unprofessional, bad service and horrible results. Please don't go here.

Joy ended up being my technician and gave me some suggestions on what color nails I should do, since I wanted to match my outfit (if you know me you know me). Joy is actually a great tech, she's very patient and didn't rush the process. Joy sparked joy for me when she recommended the scrub. It wasn't just any scrub, it was a coffee scrub. I love the smell of coffee and this literally made my weekend. My feet felt so amazing afterwards and my nails looked so cute! I visited this nail salon last Thursday and had a mixed experience. I started with a pedicure, which was done by Henna, and I was really happy with it. However, my manicure, done by Jenni, was a different story. By Saturday, just two days later, my nails were already chipped, which was disappointing considering I expected more durability for the gel. They usually last for 2-3 weeks for me till my nail grows. I came thinking this was the same salon i always went to but to my surprise it wasn't , it was new people and a new look but i loved it, felt very welcomed and respected they're soooo sweet and do nails very good and always try to keep you hydrated and be there for all your need's. While I think this salon is decent at regular/gel manicures (my pedicure was great) I do not recommend going here for anything beyond that. A few things: - The color was not the one I selected. I selected a pearl color and it went on clear - I was reassured it would match the sample after three coats. It did not. - The polish wasn't drying properly, so the technician had to repaint my thumb several times. Each time she repainted she did so without a base coat, when I suggested she start with a base coat it finally stuck. - The top coat was not smooth at all, but patchy and I had to request they apply it over many nails - The glue under the Gel-X was so thick it actually cut my skin and I had to file it at home - The actual gel x nails started to fall off as soon as I got home. I asked another salon closer to where I live to reapply and they were shocked by the job that was done. - More nails kept falling off - 6 so far. It's been 3 days. I would have gone back to get this completely redone but I was traveling and am out of town for the holidays so I have to fix this elsewhere. Update on 12/22/23: Hi Glamour Salon team: Thank you for the offer to refill, but I have to travel to three cities this holiday (which is why I was hoping these nails would last). I had to squeeze in an appointment to a nearby salon to redo my nails. While I won't be coming back, I would appreciate a refund of the manicure (not the pedicure or the tip), if possible.
