Top Level: Initial screw-up, great recovery…read more Atlas heating installed our furnace nearly 20 years ago and it has worked well until recently. We started having problems with it, so we had a technician come out to perform preventative maintenance. However, less than a week later, it died completely and I could not revive it. I called Atlas, thinking that I would be a priority for service, assuming they would stand behind their work. Instead I was told that I could not get scheduled for service until 5 days later, and the money I had spent on the maintenance was essentially forfeit, as I would receive no credit towards the repairs. Instead, I went with a different company that diagnosed and repaired the problem two days later. After the rather disappointing interaction with Atlas, the owner called and was mortified at how I was treated. She was extremely apologetic and offered to not only refund the cost of the preventative maintenance, but tried to give me even more money for the poor handling of my case. While I did accept the refund, I did not think it fair to take more money. We parted on good terms and when it comes time to replace my furnace (in the near future), Atlas will definitely be part of the process. I would leave five stars, but have to deduct one for the initial poor handling of my case.

It is a common location for…read morethis type of house, but -needless to say- it is not easy to replace that furnace when the need comes. We decided to hire ATLAS for the job: the furnace was old, and the original roof ducting did a lousy job distributing the heat throughout the house. I was always cold even when the heat was "blasting". ATLAS did a thorough and patient analysis of our old system. They decided to double up the ducts to provide more air flow, and they also organized the flow inside the ducts: it worked. Frankly, the final cost was reasonable, considering the benefits I am getting from it. I particularly recommend Nick and Scott who supervised the project: they really looked into the project, then fixed the problem. Plus: the work was clean, and the communication great all along. Happy customer :-)

Juan came with the sales pitch (i:e: if you agree to go with us now, we'll give you a discount...but only if you decide RIGHT now). I had to sit through a binder presentation and he told me I needed a new furnace to go with my air conditioner unit because the A/C condenser and furnace have to pair up for operational purposes and they won't replace one unit only if they are both more than 8 yrs old. He showed me some scary pictures of his furnace "inspection" and said my furnace was a fire risk, had evidence of decomposition and potential CO exposure and in the "interest of safety", he recommended a full system upgrade. The pictures were legit bad and concerning, but the funny thing is, the pictures he showed me were not the inside of my furnace. I had 4 other local vendors come after him and all of them showed me photos of inside my unit. Guess what? Their pics all matched each others and none matched Juan's pictures. Weird right? The other 4 local vendors inspected my furnace and all of them noticed the refurb of all the major components I had done 5 years ago. All said that no furnace replacement was indicated and my furnace was in great shape with many high functioning years left. Weird right? I intentionally never offered that info up to any vendor before the inspection as a secret test to see who would be an honest tradesman and who would not. See a pattern here folks? Juan's quotes came in at $17,500 for an electrical system (a/c and furnace) and $18,046 for a gas system (a/c and furnace), because you know...can't just replace the AC unit in his world. All other vendors (who have higher/better reviews on Yelp btw) came in between $8-10k for a new a/c unit. Again, all said no need for a new furnace. So, i'm counting my lucky stars I wasn't duped. Going with someone else and getting my new A/C unit installed tommorow

1 888 Heat Pumps installed a heat pump for us last month…read more The heat pump is amazing. I was worried it would be loud. It is much quieter than the furnace it replaced. I cannot even hear it when I am outside on the deck 10 feet away from it. The people and company were also great. We reached out to a few companies; prices were similar, but this was the only company that actually took some measurements before recommending a system to us. I was also happy knowing this company is locally-owned. The install is clean -- they got rid of all the old stuff -- and the installers were super friendly and super competent. Highly recommend.

For YEARS I struggled with the…read moreparticulars of how to bring our home (built in 1952) out of the mid-previous century and into the 21st century - it is an immense challenge. I am a bit of a clean energy/efficiency fanatic and I looked at the problem from every angle I could conceive of. I wanted some 'pie in the sky' stuff - but they - in kindness and respect - talked me off the ledge and into reality - a good reality. An actually excellent reality. They are genuine and they care about what they do - the whole team. And they understand the heat pump's essential efficiency proposition: 3-4 units of heating or cooling for 1 unit of electrical energy (due to no chemical bonds being broken in burning just moving heat around). For me, that counts - and counts BIG. Have you ever read about or experienced shopping for an electric car from conventional (gas powered) car dealers? They do NOT want to sell you and EV. They make no margin on an EV. They know precious little about what an EV is....they are in every way 'all in on petrol'.... It is just the same with HVAC for your home....most of the BIG HVAC companies do sell a heat pump or two - but they mostly would rather sell you another high-margin gas furnace.... These guys you go to when you know what you want - a heat pump done right and done honestly! I sincerely do not think you will regret giving them a chance to earn your business. Carry on!

My furnace was out for two and half years, so I thought it would be a good idea to get it fixed…read more In addition, I bought a smart thermostat and wanted to get it installed. I opened a project on Yelp and went with Harry Clark. Oscar was the tech who came out on the scheduled appointment date. He was very tidy wearing shoe covers and after climbing his ladder to get into my attic, he was able to determine that it wasn't the pilot light that was the issue with my furnace, but it was simply turned off. He turned it on and then went to work installing my smart thermostat. After he got it installed, he showed me how to adjust the settings. Finally he also examined my living room fireplace and showed me where the switch was inside the panel to turn it on. He was clean and efficient and I'm very happy with the service. I called them later and asked to be put on a list for annual furnace maintenance. High recommend Oscar and Harry Clark Heating and Air.

QC referred us to Harry Clark Heating and Air Conditioning for a complete upgrade to replace our gas furnace. HC owner Don Marshall spent an hour and a half assessing the existing heating system in our 1908 home, answering all our questions and providing a detailed quote for a two zone system the next day. After reviewing the quote with QuitCarbon, we decided the price was competitive and chose not to get other bids. I should mention that I'm a licensed mechanical engineer and have lots of experience working with contractors. Armando Hernandez and his crew completed the install in one week and we were up and running on day 5. The quality of the workmanship was excellent. Armando addressed my many questions and was a pleasure to work with. There was an issue with a defective part in the air handler. The project manager Matt Schwoyer was able to resolve it with their supplier, and the part was replaced the following week. Everyone at Harry Clark was professional and responsive throughout the whole project. We are pleasantly surprised with the improved and consistent comfort level in our home and would recommend HC to anyone considering a heat pump retrofit.
