First, these are the nicest people in the wine business. Warm and gracious and extremely knowledgable about the wine and vineyards. When we first qwnt to Noria, it was mostly superb Pinots and Chardonnay. Since, they've added a wonderful Gewürztraminer and a bomb Sauvignon Blanc as well. These are finely crafted wines from some of the best vineyards in Sonoma and beyond (no, they don't have rows of vines in Berkeley) and the bang for the buck is off the charts. I'm mostly a red drinker and only enjoy Pinots occasionally and Noria was my go-to. The addition of more white wines (and rosé) combined with my move to a warmer climate have made Noria indespensible for me. Absolutely check them out. Do yourself a favor and start at Noria, go across the street to Broc Cellars and then Donkey and Goat for a perfect wine tasting day right in Berkeley.

The venue is both very comfortable and cool with a variety of seating options for guests, the Hammerling wines we selected to be served were delicious, they had a perfect outdoor space for a pop-up pizza oven to set up, and Hammerling's manager and staff were exceptional - both during the planning phase and during the party. The vibe was so lovely, and the bride and groom could not have been happier. And it was a great way for our out-of-towners to get a nice slice of Berkeley. I had to ask probing questions about if this phone # is affiliated to this business because the person on the other end seemed to not know what I was talking about. Found out it's the "owner" and u must visit by appointment. The add on yelp is very misleading and left a foul taste speaking to the owner that seemed completely unaware that this # was listed for his business on yelp.

They greet you and they accept walk-ins. If you want to go on a weekend then it's probably best to make a reservation. I was told it gets crowded. Lucky us, we came in on a weekday. No crowd. We watched a video on the process of making sake and we also did a self tour of the museum. We spent most of our time doing the tasting because we have never done a sake tasting before. It was very enjoyable. Karen was our lovely host and she knew enough about the sakes to help us out, The place is absolutely beautiful with paper looking birds hanging from the ceiling. Decided to visit this sake brewery on July 4th with my friend and her parents. I've heard of the…read morecompany before. We had reservations for 4pm. Before going to the tasting sake tables, we watched a video on the process of making sake in English. After the video was done, we headed to the tasting table where there were matching placards of what ticket you bought, an information card, and 3 sake cups. There was a couple sitting at the same table as us. There was an employee named Reiko who explained some of the information on the info cards that were on the table. She also showed us the rice being polished at different percentages. She also answered any questions the other people had. She did do a couple combinations of different sakes for some of the other guests to taste amd see how sake can be combined. Maybe just wish the sake tasting also came with like a little snack that could go with the different types of sake. For those non drinkers they get a bottle of water and a package of crackers.
