We needed to have some landscaping work done, but needed our A/C unit moved. After getting a couple of quotes, we called Berkeys. Tren Nguyen, HVAC Technician, came out and reviewed the project. He clearly explained what was needed to complete the project, including: 1) Moving the unit and placing it on a new slab; 2) Electrical work including a new breaker; Outside wiring, and relocating the attic wiring; 3) Moving the splash guard from one side of the house to the other, protecting the unit from rain runoff; 4) Cleaning and inspecting the drain; 5) Pulling the City permit(s) and scheduling the final inspection; and 5) General cleanup. Mr. Nguyen was friendly, thorough, efficient and professional. He insured us that the job would be completed in about half a day, and his crew would take care of everything. There was no need to worry about hiring anyone else to finish the project. His quote was very competitive. We decided to hire Berkeys over the other companies that we had contacted, for the following reason: 1) Berkeys was more professional than the other companies. 2) Berkeys took care of all work with their own employees. One of the other companies that we had contacted, was only able to do a portion of the work, and we would have to contact another company to complete the project. 3) Mr. Nguyen was knowledgeable and confident about all aspects of the project, including: Electrical; Equipment; Permitting; etc. Another company's representative seemed to be unsure of a number of aspects of the work to be done, such as electrical work and permitting. 4) Mr. Nguyen promised that the job would be done right, and if there were any problems, they would return to fix it. (As info, the City inspector came out this afternoon, to inspect the project. He told me that the project was compliant and passed the inspection.) The Project: 1) On the day of the project, there were, I think, three different teams, consisting of a total of about 10 individuals: 1) The electrical technician came out early, and completed the necessary rewiring; 2) Another group followed, and moved the unit, placing it on a new slab; 3) Another group followed shortly after, taking care of all of the hookups and outside wiring of the unit; 4) and at the same time, Mr. Nguyen inspected and cleared the drainage. 5) The work was completed within about 4 hours, and at the completion of the project, Mr. Nguyen walked me through and explained the steps that were taken, showing me everything that had been done, and ensuring that our property was clean and free of any clutter. 6) After the team left, a representative from the main office called me, making sure that the work was done to my satisfaction. (It was!) 7) Finally, about 4 days later, Mr. Nguyen came out and inspected the work again. We then sat down and had a very nice chat. Summary: I had seen Berkeys commercials on FOX4, Dallas, many times, as well as other company's commercials. Chris Kohr from Berkeys did a great job, correctly analyzed the source of the problem and replaced an electric vehicle charger plug that had been installed upside down and had a receptor designed for an electric dryer instead of an electric car which was not rated to handle the 240V and 38 amp electrical requirements of the EV charger and so this wrong plug type was causing the circuit breaker to trip periodically and often enough that I thought the breaker was bad and needed to be replaced. As it turned out, it did not need to be replaced and because Chris accurately diagnosed and fixed the problem right the first time, this circuit breaker we had has been working fine ever since and we have been able to recharge our EV at home without any problems. A less trustworthy electrician might have replaced our circuit breaker when that was not needed so we appreciate and value both Chris's talent and expertise as an electrician but we also value his honesty and moral character. We will be calling Berkey's and asking to have Chris serve us for our electrical needs from now on. We liked his professionalism so much we decided to do a whole refresh of our old circuit breakers in our electrical box because the old one's that remain are over 30 years old and based on what Chris suggested and what we verified on the internet, we can expect these to start causing problems and instead of waiting and reacting and doing them piecemeal one at a time we will choose to have all of the old circuit breakers replaced at once to take advantage of the volume pricing which is about half of what it would be if we do them as they fail. If you have an old house with old circuit breakers you may want to consider taking this proactive step to avoid the problems of an old circuit breaker going bad at the least opportune time. We would not want to have a breaker trip and stop working and not be able to reset it and keep powering our home and HVAC in the middle of the summer or winter. We would not want our oven not working while cooking a meal either like when we have family over during the holidays and birthday or anniversary celebrations. Life happens while we have other plans so we have decided to be proactive instead of reactive. We hope you have the same experience we have had with Chris and Berkeys. read more

Most people would never ask for a multi-stage whole-home filtration system including UV light to be installed on city water. However, after performing a specialized and comprehensive water test on Coppell's city water supply I had some concerns. I purchased my own whole-home filtration system online through 2 different companies to meet my needs. I really appreciate Berkeys going the extra mile and installing this system to help protect my family from potentially harmful chemicals in the water. They took care of the permitting process and also coordinated the plumbers and electrician at appropriate times which took some project planning tasks off my hands. When the electrician came, he spotted a recent electrical addition that was not in compliance with code. I actually had that work done recently, so I appreciate the heads up on that. I want to give a special thanks to the plumbers not only for their expertise but also their enthusiasm. They seemed to enjoy their work. In my experience, people who are often the most experienced are also often the most burnt out! Sean in particular was a very experienced professional who somehow still had great interest in his craft which I have to say is a very nice energy to deal with. I was hanging around for some of the time and asking a few questions and he answered them all very much to my satisfaction. I also thought some of his solutions throughout the project where clever. Now our family has some real peace of mind when it comes to our water! This is an unusual review in that Berkys did not actually fix our air conditioning problem. I'm writing to praise their customer support. Berkys came out several times to attempt to fix the problem, and we paid them at the end of five, perhaps six trips on their part. When the problem resurfaced, we contacted another company, who did indeed remedy our problem. In full disclosure, I need to add that we opted to replace the entire system, so in a sense, we never gave Berkys the chance to do the same. What impressed me is that, upon contacting Berkys with our story, they gave us almost a complete refund of the money we had spent with them. I cannot stress enough their professionalism and fairness. The technician we dealt with (Mike) was courteous and explained everything he was attempting to do, and he arrived on time. The manager we spoke to to get our refund (Adam) listened and worked with us in exemplary fashion. In a nutshell, there's no abandonment of the customer, even when the customer has moved on. They truly care about their reputation and have embraced that old fashioned notion that the customer is always right. I was shocked and relieved they so graciously refunded our money. Well done, Berkys. P.S. I'd like to add that there were no additional charges for the numerous trips. And I think they could well have recommended replacement during the next phase. I am forced to give a one star as the do not have less. Please stay clear of this company (get a local company for less .....I did) I used Berkey's Plumbing-Heating-Air Conditioning service back in 2007 and was pleased with the service and the technician...he cleaned out my main drain and treated the line with a "Root Killer" all for the very reasonable price of $599.42....Well the roots have grown back so of course I called Berkey's......This time they sent a technician that walked around my property like he was lost.....I gave him a tour and showed him what the last tech did....and he said "let me go work on the numbers.....he came back with two prices one under $400.00 and the other under $600.00.....I said "Fine do what you have to do". Well he walked around the property some more, went into the bathrooms and flushed the toilets numerous times causing a flood....then told me he would have to go work on the numbers again. 5 minutes later he presents me with a bid for $2100.00 and some change. He flooded two bathrooms allowing the water to flood into a bedroom and a hallway///both with hand scraped wooden floors less than 8 months old. I showed the bum the door.....as he was leaving he stated he needed to collect the $150.00 service call charge..... Woke up to my kitchen flooding this morning from a broken water heater that is upstairs in a closet above the kitchen. We have a maintenance agreement with Berkey's so we called them to come out first. It has been super icy here in Frisco but they still made it out within 45 min. Not only did they look at the water heater they(Jorge he was amazing so I wanted to add his name) also called the floor restoration people and the ceiling people (who were also awesome) and had them out no longer than 45 min later. We will be replacing our two 50 gallon water heaters with waterless heaters so we don't have to ever do this mess again. The whole process was simple and easy. I feel the need to add that it is 10:30 pm and these guys are still here working on installing the tankless water heater, there it is quite a process switching. I said something about feeling bad about them still being here and Michael T said, " It is all about the customers and getting yawl fixed up. We know ya'll have kids and need hot water, this is what we are here to do, help you." Also I am glad to see that the company responds to their reviews, you also need to look in the not recommended reviews because there are many 5-star reviews you are not seeing. They have always been amazing to us and I have never even thought to get a second opinion because they have been more then fair. read more

I like many others came home to bad news!! My wife had walked down the hallway and her socks got wet and it was not a spill, we ended up pulling up the carpet to get a look and we could see water coming through the slab. I didn't really know what to do. We decided to call a local plumber to investigate and $250 later we still did not know anymore than we did before, I had heard about BERKEYS through my work, because they serviced our A/C and plumbing. I was always impressed with their professionalism and punctual attitude. I decided to call them and I felt encouraged when they told me that they had a leak detection specialist. They pinpointed and isolated the leak within the hour and told me that it was a hotter water line in the slab. I panicked and thought this sounds expensive,however they helped me with my insurance claim and explained all my options, we opted for the re-route and it was done in one day, my wife was concerned that the washer and dryer and everything that was pulled out, but was very happy to see that not only was everything cleaned and replaced perfectly and in some cases better than in was before. About a year ago I had Berkeys install two tankless water heaters to replace the old ones in the house. The install was excellent and the hot water was continous as advertised as long as the water flowed at high speed. Any attempt to slow the flow down resulted in the hot water shutting off and needing high flow for another 45 seconds to get it back. I called and complained about this after the install and was told that was how the system worked. Trying to solve this problem, I called them out to tell me what it would take to have quicker hot water at the tap and a slow flow hot water. Luckily a young man by the name of Nick Scarpinato showed up and worked it hard to understand what was happening and how to correct it. He has the type of inquisitive mind that makes a great service man and is often only found in engineers. He worked through many obstacles with others on the Berkeys team and with the manufacturer to find a solution. The beauty of his solution is that when communicated to the rest of the Berkeys team they will find many more satisfied customers for the tankless water heaters and be able to explain the performance better. ' We're there when you need us" is their mantra and it's true. I called on a Sunday and got a reply immediately. The person who took my call was extremely nice and very accommodating. They scheduled someone to come out in 4 hours to my home (of course there's a weekend rate, but that's expected). Then, a miracle... what was initially a 2 toilet clog - suddenly unclogged. I called back and cancelled. AGAIN - they were SO nice to me and said that was great, please call them back if i ever needed them again. I did need them again and I remembered how nice and helpful they were with me so called them back. Same problem - two toilets, sinks and showers all backed up. Lucky for me it was not a weekend. I called late in the day and they came the very next morning. The guy had to have been here 4 hours going thru my lines. He was very professional and I believe did a great job. Gave me some great tips so I wouldn't have the same problem (like even if the package says a flushable wipe is flushable... it's NOT). :) Berkeys REALLY was there when I needed them and their people are every bit as friendly and helpful as the young lady who does their commercials. I won't forget them for any future plumbing needs and would highly recommend them to anyone. read more

My outdoor A/C unit quit due the exhaust fan motor failing. The unit was 14 years old. The Berkeys tech gave me three options, replace the fan motor, replace the outdoor unit and inside coil that was leaking freon or install a complete new system including the furnace. There was no pressure from the tech and he seemed conserned that I get the best value for my money. He offered two different brands of outdoor units and I decided to go with the Goodman unit and the indoor coil. Our furnace was only two years old so did not need to be replaced. The installation was scheduled for the next day. Berkey's pulled a permit from the city something most companies would not do. The installation went perfectly. After installation a Berkey's supervisor came and inspected the work and then called the city for their inspection. Bottom line Berkey's is proud of and stands behind their work. Maybe you can find it cheaper but you get what you pay for. I prefer to work with a company that is going to be around for the long term. I believe I got excellant value and service for my money. read more

I've had 3 separate encounters with Berkey's and I can honestly say I have been very impressed. The first occasion was years ago when my AC went out. The rep came out and made the repairs quickly. He also spent the time to discuss future preventative measures along with general maintenance advice. The second time I had an electrician come out and take a look at my breaker box. I had purchased an older home and was told by the person who inspected my house that the breaker box might need to be replaced. The electrician examined my breaker box, compared it to the electrical requirements of my home and determined it was in good shape, nothing needed to be done. On the most recent occasion, I had plumbing work done at my residence that involved adding a drain line to the garage. They provided me with an estimate and a quick turn around date to start the work. They stuck to the estimate and did not attempt to charge me anything more once the work was completed. I input a query to Home Advisor on a Saturday afternoon and had a call from Berkeys within a half hour and was offered a service window the same day. (Have you ever tried to get a plumber on a Saturday of the Labor Day long weekend?) The office gave me a call about 30 minutes later to inform me that the technician was on his way. Dewayne arrived about 30 minutes later, quickly identified my problem was three leaks in my irrigation system. He then probed the grass and landscaping until he found the master valve for the irrigation system (when another landscaping irrigation crew had tried for a half day and failed to locate it.) He then isolated the irrigation system and determined that there was a small leak in the system running to my home, but wasn't significant enough to warrant further action. To make a long story short, my problem was much less severe than I had feared and I was charged only for service call of $69. I'll be back to Berkeys for any future plumbing problem I have. read more

I had a leaking problem on a Sunday. I was frantic, I went to the phone book trying to find a plumber to come to my house. When I started calling different places, I either got a recording, or someone would answer and say "We don't work on Sunday". I got one person that said "Sure, but it will cost you triple for the Trip Charge". I went to superpages.com and looked for plumbers in my area. I found Berkeys. I called and the gentleman that answered said they could be there in 1 hour. No tripling the Trip Charge. The man that came out was wonderful. He gave me his name and showed identification. He was on the problem immediately and got it fixed very promptly. Plus it didn't cost me an arm and leg. After the leak was fixed the gentleman told me I would receive and email with a receipt and also a free A/C checkup for spring and Heater checkup for fall, free! Paid almost 500 dollars and not even 2 hours later the ac stop working. The only thing the was interested in was selling me a new unit $9800. I will never used this company again and I will tell everyone I know not to used this company. Berkeys? They just want your money. He didn't even know which unit was up stairs vs downstairs. I told him several times which one was the upstairs unit but even before that he know he was already telling me things that was wrong with the good unit and they was not the one that wasn't working. Just started spitting off all this nonsense about the wrong unit. Once he finally realized it he says that's interesting that whomever built this house got something wrong. He basicly solve the problem before he knock on my door as if you can just say some bullshit to dumb costumers and they will believe you. He didn't do a full check of my ac unit. Very unhappy and now I have go to another company and 1 more week with my children suffering in this hot house. read more

The annual heating inspection revealed serious and potentially serious issues with our heating system that the technician Brandon explained thoroughly and made sure I understood, then showed me the problems and what they could mean if left undone. Then, while waiting for an installer to come start the work, he changed into his installer clothes and started the disassembling process to save time. Three workers eventually arrived - Shawn, Edwin, and Mike M. The entire procedure took several hours and the job was done right. Our house is just about 20 years old and it really wasn't a surprise to hear that this issue needed attention. My husband, who is generally leery of household repair/replacement quotes, had no problem with the work or the cost. We have had service from Berkey's for years and have their BAM (Berkeys Automatic Maintenance Plan) that gets us three annual tune-ups as well as discounts on service. We have never had a problem with anyone from this company. read more

We called Berkeys out because the water was still running in the bathtub after we turned the knobs all the way off. We were told the plumber would arrive between 12 and 4. I received a call around 10:30 saying that Corey was on his way. Once he arrived he accessed the issue and had it fixed within an hour and half. He even went out and bought new knobs for our tub because the older ones were in such bad shape. He was very polite and professional. So happy with our experience today, I will say I was a little worried at first after dealing with other companies previously. Most companies tell you a time Window and no one shows up until after their estimated time.. Couldn't believe it when we got a call saying he would be here before 12! He was in and out so fast, and now I can get back to what I need to get done around our house now that we can have the water back on! We will be calling this company again in the future! read more

I had my home warrantee co send some random co out up fix my coil. Well they said they couldn't get to the unit and would splice and do some crazy stuff to the ducts that were covered with spray on foam. I wanted a 2nd opinion. I saw on Angie's List they were rated high and on tv they had an ad. Mike came out and measured the load to see exactly what was there and what I needed if I was to replace the entire unit. He spent hours working on it and came up with various solutions. I decided to replace 2 complete units and all ducts and mike really worked with me so I understood it all. It ended up taking. 3 days and the crew was fabulous. Jorge Rodriguez, Bryan P, Tony R, Michael M were all as kind as can be. They were thoughtful and considerate the entire time even though the temp outside was over 98 I can only imagine what it was in the attic. Overall I am so pleased with my decision to go with Berkeys. read more

I've used both plumbing and a/c services; I have all three memberships (electrical too - though I've not used that service yet). My experiences with Tren Nguyen and Carlos Peza have been excellent! We bought a fixer-upper so I've had both of them out for small projects and they have both been friendly and highly professional. It's always easy to make appointments and they both arrive timely and work efficiently to get the job done. I began using Berkeys after a competitor said we needed some major a/c upgrades but I couldn't get them to come back to do the work so I called Berkeys. That's when I met Tren. He did an inspection and said that we didn't need the equipment the other company recommended. He didn't upsell me. They cleaned my a/c ducts, replaced some bad sections and had me up running again at a very reasonable cost. I highly recommend Berkeys! read more
