Noodles, Trail Bologna and Swiss Sandwich
    Jennifer F.

The place is super cute and seems clean. It's massive with tons of seating. Our waitress was extremely slow so it took far too long for basic meals there. You can choose buffet or order off the menu. We chose menu. I got a bologna and Swiss sandwich on wheat with a side of noodles. The noodles were full of flavor. The Swiss is local from Guggisberg, which I appreciated. The bologna was thick and had great flavor. And the bread if homemade. So all in all, the quality is superb. I just felt like overall it was lacking. Needed some finesse, maybe some other topping offerings.

Turkey Manhattan takeout (hot turkey sandwich, mashed potatoes, drenched in gravy) plus seasoned broccoli - messy and delicious!

Note! This is a rare review of takeout here! Not the buffet. It was the end of a long, difficult day of driving and I just wanted some comfort food in the privacy of my hotel room. You know the kind of day when you are so exhausted you don't have the emotional capacity to interact with the waitstaff in a restaurant and just want to collapse in a bed and catch up on sleep? Yeah. This place looked good and, honestly, there's not a ton of places around here where you can order ahead online given local customs. My expectations were low, but so far, so good: easy to order. The pickup process was great. They have a side station at the host stand for takeout, so you can skip around the buffet waiting line. Friendly people, order ready on time, quick pickup, tons of parking. I had the Turkey Manhattan, mixed white/dark meat, which is a hot turkey sandwich absolutely drenched in gravy, along with mashed potatoes, also drenched in gravy. Plus I ordered a side of seasoned broccoli to trick myself into thinking it was all healthy. It was exactly what I wanted. Not gourmet, not luxury, but definitely better than I expected from a high-volume buffet restaurant. Everything tasted good, everything above average quality, and just a bit salty. I ate the whole thing immediately and then passed out. It was a wonderful meal. Just wonderful.

Food is great and so is the staff. Can be a bit busy at dinner but if you go a little early it makes for a better experience.

When getting our first plates of food, I think we set at least 5 plates to the side before we found clean ones to use. One thing to take BIG note of is that MAYBE 25% of the food, sauces and condiments are labeled. It is a guessing game what you are getting. Aside from that, our table was clean, and our waitress was very nice. One thing that you MUST BE AWARE OF if you come to eat here, you can only tip with cash. Unless you go back up to the front counter to the woman who hates her job and ask for cash off of your card, you and your waitress/waiter are out of luck. We literally had to zelle our waitress her tip because we felt so bad and I better there are many times a day that customer just simply don't tip at all because "if they wanted us to tip then they should have made that possible on our card". Very few people are going to want to walk back up to Hate-My-Job Jessica and go through the hassle of getting cash back on their card. That is something that they really need to figure out. Food: We tried the following foods: -Tortilla chips with ground taco meat and cheese sauce: With the looks of the cheese sauce, I thought it was going to be very bad, but it was actually the item I ate the most of. Albeit hard to screw up nachos, we still very much enjoyed them. -Spinach artichoke dip: We were excited to try this because it looked fresh, hot and creamy. We were mistaken. This was FOWL. We rarely get something so bad we have to spit into a napkin, but this was absolutely one of those times. It had absolutely zero flavor. -Chicken Tenders: The chicken tenders were good. But hands down the best thing I had at dinner that night was the orange sauce you see on the plate (It was definitely some type of buffalo sauce but of course it wasn't labeled). -Popcorn shrimp: The popcorn shrimp was good. But was sucked about it was that the cocktail sauce is all the way on the other side of the buffet and there is no sign to tell you that. Obviously, it is kept where the cold condiments are, but I had to ask where it was and that was a guessing/smelling game as well since nothing is labeled. -Tamale: Disgusting. Period. -Meatloaf: My partner said the meatloaf was your average run of mill meatloaf but was good. -Green beans and mashed potatoes: Good -Lemon Custard Cake?: It wasn't labeled, and we thought it was cheesecake from the looks. Good thing we didn't put chocolate sauce... -Banana Pudding: Good. Your average banana pudding. If we were down on our luck and needed a cheap way to get a full stomach, we would try it again. Other than that.... No thank you

This restaurant has at least 2-3x as many food options as my local Chinese buffets. The variety was good, with American choices mixed in with the oriental ones. They also had a pretty decent dessert selection (ice cream, cookies, pudding, fruit, jello, apple pie, etc.), which isn't usually the case with Chinese buffets. The lowlights: the building is dated along with the decor, the bathroom, and the furniture. The utensils are located up at the salad bar. So, if you were expecting them to be brought to you with your drinks, you'll be taking the extra trip back up front while your plate gets cold at the table. I loved the fish tank at the front and a lot of the chicken options. The green beans and broccoli were fresh and crisp. The apple pie rendition was good, but the banana pudding had a strong artificial taste. The host was friendly, as was the woman who walked us to our table and brought our drinks. The price seemed fair for dinner ($15.99/pp).

The food itself is very classic home-style comfort food with lots of options. Nothing super fancy or out of the ordinary, but everything tasted fresh and the buffet was constantly being refilled every few minutes. We also got the iced sweet teas, which seemed to be really popular since almost every table had one. One unique thing -- the entrance and exit are through the gift shop, and you also pay there at the end of your meal, which definitely adds to the old-school country restaurant experience.
