I started with a trim for my daughter and myself. I was surprised how fast our hair grew after that trim. Eventually, we added color to our services. My daughter and I had such great hair that other people asked and have gone to him for cut & color. Danny has consistently gotten our vision of what we want to do. I just tell him make it look cute & he does! I usually book my appt & daughter's appt one right after the other. One appointment request with Danny was 90s Topanga cut & color for one & the other cutting bangs & layers and subtle highlights. I got an opening day of with stylist Neesha. She did an AMAZING job!! I been going to Artika for years, but the person I go with is no longer there. I desperately needed a haircut, so I decided to go with who ever was available. The stylist was Jesse. I showed the stylist a couple styled cuts I wanted. He said no, they are not going to go with your hair type. I don't know why he told me that when I had gotten these styles in the past. Finally after looking at others styles we agreed on a hair style that according to him would work with my hair. Once again I showed him the cut before he started working on my hair. He just started cutting my hair. He was friendly and talked the whole time. I thought that once he got to the length of hair on the picture he was going to stop and ask me how much I wanted cut off. To my surprise when he stopped cutting, he said ok. It's done. He cut off all my hair. I have no length.. My hair barely goes below my shoulders and that's not even my whole hair. I was shocked when I saw it. I am so terrified with my hair. It's very short. You can't see no layers. I can't believe that he didn't ask me how long I wanted my hair to be. I don't know what to do? There's nothing I can really do with such short hair. I will never go back to Artika again! I can't believe I let someone tell me that what I wanted would not go with me, but did whatever he wanted with my hair. I would post a picture but I am so embarrassed. read more

My experience happened in August. It was a nice salon and I was ready to be pampered for once and I saved up for my appt. Unfortunately, this was overpriced for what I got. I left with brown dye all over my face that didn't wash off for about a week. My hair was also green, even though I warned her beforehand that with certain tones my hair reacted like that. It took about three weeks to get the green out. I wrote an email to the salon the next day asking them to make sure they didn't use the same toner for my next appointment because it had turned my hair green. I never even got a response so I didn't bother scheduling a followup. The haircut and color wasn't what I wanted at all. She knew she did me dirty too, because she tried vigorously scrubbing my forehead to get the dye stains off, but she had left them on for too long. No one could even tell that I had gotten a haircut either. Instead of the shoulder length bob that I asked for, I got a tiny trim that was well below my shoulders. It was just a disappointing experience and it bummed me out that they didn't even reply to my email. I didn't ask for my money back and I didn't even request that they fix it. I had been coming here for years. I'm done. I left unhappy with my color and style. I told the stylist, who was really nice, and she told me I'd need to come back if I wanted to achieve the color I thought I would be getting. I get that. But it looked orange and now even more so. I also asked her to straighten my hair and she said since she's already put product in it, it wasn't possible. She did apologize for assuming I wanted it left curly. Okay. I left with frizzy and much warmer color than I was expecting. I told the front desk person. He said, that maybe they can do something for me the next time I come in. So, I've now told two people who don't seem to really care that I'm not exactly excited about the results. I get home and find that I still have visible grays. I call to ask to speak to the manager. They say she'll call me back the next day. No response. That's strike three for me. AnHopefully, you'll have a better experience than I did. I just left my appointment with Jane at ARTIKA and I want to start off by saying that I will definitely be back. I'm an Aveda user and if you're local to Whittier, you know that there's not many places to purchase Aveda products around town. This spa has everything Aveda from haircare, skincare, even the makeup line. Very impressive! The staff uses only Aveda products which make your experience here very refreshing and relaxing. Aside from the amazing selection of products to purchase, the space is immaculate. The spa is very modern, warm, and inviting (I included some photos). This was my first time here at ARTIKA and the staff members took great care of me by offering me refreshments throughout my stay. I had a routine shampoo, haircut, and style done by Jane. The shampoo station was extremely comfortable and during my conditioning, Jane gave me a mini facial which was a little unexpected, but I was very happy and grateful for it. During the duration of my hair care, Jane noticed the breakage around the front of my hair and gave me great advice to help me grow the short hair out and get it healthy again. Tips I will definitely be adding to my routine! I walked in with broken, damaged, dry ends, and walked out with touch-ably soft, silky, and smooth locks and skin! I had an awesome appointment with Christina today. I came in with purple balayage which was practically glued to my hair with uneven bleaching. It was a mess. I asked Christina to lighten my hair enough so that I could reapply purple and not have it look blue, as it did when the hair was only lightened to a blue. She had to try several different techniques as the purple didn't want to budge easily. She didn't give up!!
