The balance between meatloaf, pickled onions and lingonberries is beyond imagination. I tried to have the sandwich in the most etiquette way as possible by using fork & knife, but soon gave up and used my hands instead. That tender juicy flavor in the first bite... you won't regret. The sour pickles in the side goes really well with the flavor, no wonder they have pickles in the jar for sale. I devoured the whole sandwich in 2 minutes.... Friendly and helpful staff, clean shop, and great deli environment. I went with the Icelandic bagel plate. It was a great combination of flavors... excellent cream cheese, sweet pickled veggies, salty capers, and rich salmon. All of the compliments to the dish were delicious. Where I was less impressed was with the bagel. A bit too chewy and dull for me. To be fair, I grew up on the east coast, where a quality bagel from New Jersey or New York is hard to beat. Hipster vibes AF. I feel as if I just walked into a colder, more humid Portland of North Dakota. Only bagel choices are sourdough: seeded or plain. Seeded looks amazing! However, the sourdough bagel is just plain tough. There's no getting around it. Its so chewy, our jaws were tired after eating. Delicious? Yes. The maple bacon thyme cream cheese needs more maple and less thyme. Chevre goat cheese spread was amazing. Staff are friendly. I loved the matzo ball soup but found the cold chicken salad rather lacking in flavor. The service was prompt and courteous. The ambiance was just like a quiet New York delicatessen and I enjoyed it very much! My friend said his pastrami was also a bit bland but we both agreed that the hummus and bagels were incredible! We were driving through town and found this gem through Yelp. I absolutely love bagels, so I knew we would get that. But the menu looked so delicious that we ended up ordering a smorgasbord of food. Definitely a feast for two ppl. I chose all the faves from the lady helping me: lamb meatloaf sandwich, smoked trout cold sandwich, and the classic latke. Feeling FOMO, I also got us the potato knish and the sweet oatmeal...o, and an everything bagel with Lox spread. Lamb: This is the best lamb dish I've had in recent memory if not ever. The meatloaf was flavorful and moist. The bread was buttery and toasted perfectly as to hold up to the sauce. And the pickled onions were a nice touch. My husband does not eat most red meat, but he took a few bites. He might have eaten more, but I devoured it. He says the lingonberry really topped it. 5/5 Smoked trout: Sorta reminded me of a tuna fish sandwich. This was my first time trying this. My husband grew up eating this stuff, and he said it was one of the best he ever had. 4/5 Latke: Best latke ever. What did it for me was the Apple compote. I think they added salted butter or something. I normally eat latke with just apple sauce, and this really elevated it. 5/5 Knish: Average. 2.5/5 Sweet oatmeal: Calling this oatmeal is really understating things. They added wild rice and a touch of creme fraiche along with some homemade matzo granola. I thought the granola was fun, but really loved the combination of (local) grains and the maple syrup. I could eat an entire tub of this stuff, but the baby wanted it, and she fights dirty. 5/5 Bagel: Ok, the lox spread was legit. I could actually see the fish. It was not just pink cream cheese. Unfortunately, the bagel didn't have the right bite and chew. I think there wasn't enough middle to it, and that threw it all off. 3/5 I am so happy to have tried this incredible restaurant. Amazing food!!! Visited Fargo for a weekend and had to come to this place twice! The bagels were fresh and delicious. The variety of sandwich flavors was soo good. We ordered a couple to share and I loved all of them. The Israeli lamb, the brisket and the chicken walnut salad melt were the three we had and loved. This is my absolute favorite place to eat in the morning. Love the matzo ball soup, and the chicken walnut melt is too good. Like, I can't stop ordering it good, even though there's other stuff worth checking out. I have yet to have a meal that wasn't awesome. Staff is super friendly, and the table markers... the table markers will make you laugh, unless you don't laugh at funny things.
