Cheetah Table marker
Anna S.

Cutest little counter service cafe in downtown Fargo! They provide you a cute little animal as a table marker for food delivery. I ordered the lox & eggs. I've been once before & had the Turkey Pastrami hot sandwich! It's not many places you can find pastrami! They do have some pastries and other products you can purchase as well.

Amazing vintage banquette!

So satisfied I could plotz! Finally made it to BernBaum's, and it was even tastier than I imagined. The blintzes were phenomenal. Just sweet enough. And the labneh was so creamy and tart! There was more complexity to this labneh than any other I've tried. I am completely obsessed with the mid-century decor, and the service was just so prompt and pleasant. BernBaum's provides a top-notch nosh that will please even the most discerning bubbe! Zie gezundt!

Wow wow wow. Fantastic food! The matzo ball soup is the best I've ever had! I loved the atmosphere of the place, really cozy, service was little slow but they got to us eventually..... the Ladke with Brisket was marvelous, it had horseradish pickled carrots with it. YUM!!!

The matzo-breaded matzo breaded chicken on challah bun with mayo, kraut tzatziki, potato salad, lingonberries and bread and butter pickles.

Truly exceptional food! The atmosphere is basically a café or coffee shop but the food is incredible and makes up for sparse ambience. Be sure to try a knish, Myron's chicken matzoh ball soup and the Nordic lamb meatloaf. All were exceptional. I must admit the matzoh breaded chicken schnitzel was a little dry. It was two slices that were breaded. If it had been one thicker slice, I think it would've been much juicier and more tender.

Iceland Bagel Plate

Great little café with options for everyone in our group. We have light eaters, big eaters, lox lovers, and vegetarian's. Everyone enjoyed their breakfast, but I was the only one who snapped a picture. I really enjoyed the Iceland Bagel Plate. The coffee is great too and if you eat in-house, it's a bottomless cup.

This was one of the best meals I've had thus far in 2020. It's been a few days and I'm still thinking about the smoked carrots, savory porridge and whipped curried tofu. My lands, you're sitting on a gem right here, Fargo. This should be noted as one of your top featured attractions!! Berbaum's has an interesting mix of Jewish deli and Scandinavian cuisine. They pair the two in a creative and innovative way- for example, we had the vegan bagel lox topped with smoked carrots, whipped tofu (curry/turmeric?), sunflower sprouts, pickled onions, za'tar and a seeded bagel. I was so sad when I took my last bite- the flavors in this sandwich are mind blowing. We also ordered the lingonberry blintzes and savory porridge. I've had savory porridge a few places and I'm surprised more restaurants haven't jumped on this train. Their version featured a combination of wild rice, blow corn and barley, I believe. I kept thinking, I wish they sold this combination of grains and that I had purchased some! It was Lahore's with smoked carrots, beets, creme fraiche herb and butter. Last but certainly not least, the young lady working the front counter could not have been more sweet, helpful and enthusiastic. I wish I would have got her name- bravo! She made the experience- even if it was brief and carryout. Now wishing our route home passed through Fargo so we could order this meal all over again.

Yes, they are great. Where else you can find Pavlova in North Dakota? I like their latke too.

The ineffective icon.

Food and atmosphere is great. There was a line out the door. Demand for this style of restaurant is clearly high in Fargo. Five stars for people watching. Eavesdropping is possible without trying. Despite the success of this establishment, unless they get a good quick handle on throughput they could fizzle. Especially problematic are the kids animal toy icons. These are used for the servers to identify the correct table for the order. It does not work. I watch more than one server circling the restaurant looking for a small toy on an already crowded table. They are effectively camouflaged. Replacing the icon with numbers on tall stands would speed up most everything. Finally there were a about three or four house fly's bugging us throughout out our meal. Never good and easily mitigated. I wish this restaurant the best. However until they can solve the icons and flys they receive an average rating. Once these two matters are solved, for their class, they are a solid 5 stars.

I got this cute little pink Dino as a gift ...

So good.... Everything.... The coffee! Oh and the food is still good the next day after reheating ... very sweet people working there! Highly recommended.... Plus I got this cute little Dino as a gift! If you want to know what kind of Dino it is ... you have to ask my daughter ... she's the Dino expert not me ... there are other animals too if Dino is not your thing! You have to check it out ... the menu is simple .... There not a thousand things you have to read and decide ... especially when you are starving!!!

Lox+eggs -lox was fresh with perfectly seeded bagel and herbed scrambled eggs fluffy herbed eggs with smoked salmon

Also going with the classics but always finding a new favorite on the menu best place in Fargo for breakfast/ lunch and good experience. Friendly staff .

Plenty of seating at their new location

The local (and visitor) raving about Bernbaum's has been growing over the past couple years but after they expanded to their new location on Broadway, I don't think I go a day any more without hearing someone mention Bernbaum's or see someone post on social media. And this is not hype; it is legit food cred for them. I find myself going back to the egg, cheese, bacon & other stuff bagel sandwich because it is so good. I could eat this every day. Eventually I'll continue to do a better job of working my way through the menu. I'll still have yet to try the Matzo ball soup, which looks great and is my son's go-to item. People gush over the Black & Whites (cookies). I see just last week they added a dinner menu so now I have even more food items to check off of my list. I also love the new location with all the seating, the natural light and the Stumbeano's coffee station.

A couple of Mondays ago, I stopped in Fargo to run a few final errands before crossing over the border to return to Winnipeg. I wanted my last drink from Caribou Coffee. I did a search and found this one close by. This cafe is in a plaza. My map app got me to the wrong part of the plaza. I somehow managed to get back on track and saw the back of the cafe first... haha! This cafe has a drive-thru. I decided to check it out. I got a friendly woman on the other end. She asked me if I had a Caribou account. I did and rattled off my phone number. She found me and asked what I'd like to order. I saw a sugar-free passionfruit yuzu sparkling energy drink on the menu that I had never had. I went with it and got a large. At a quick glance, I noticed that this cafe had Milk cookies. I got a cornflake chocolate chip marshmallow cookie. When I pulled up to the window, I tapped my credit card to pay for my items. It didn't take long for my drink to be made. I also got my cookie. I thanked the woman and made my way northbound. It was a nice sendoff getting my 'bou fix. The energy drink helped me get to Winnipeg without needed a nap. The passionfruit flavour was a bit stronger than the yuzu. I frankly would have liked it reversed. The flavour seemed off, as if they shouldn't be paired together. I'd rather have a bright, citrusy yuzu instead of a dull passionfruit taste with faint yuzu notes. I put my cookie away. When I checked in to my hotel room in Winnipeg, I had the cookie. OMG! I should have bought more. This cookie had everything that I loved. Crispy cornflake bits. Chocolate chips. Dabs of marshmallow in every bite. It was so good. I hope that it's still on the menu the next time I'm back stateside in a state that has Caribou Coffee. I am so importing this cookie! I loved stopping by this cafe. I will avoid ordering the sugar-free passionfruit yuzu and will go with other sparkling drinks that I love. (501)

Love the people and the service here. The hours of operation are good as well…read more The only downside is the bathrooms. I personally find hand dryers, not a great source of drying hands, especially when not all people wash their hands. I don't like touching flip handles to shut off after I have washed my hands. Now, I have touched a dirty surface and touched a door handle that is also dirty. This is my only fault with this place. Otherwise, the ambiance is wonderful. As well as the food and and drinks.
