We are not normally bar kind of people. Bernie's was busy when we went, but since there were just 2 of us, we didn't have to wait overly long like the larger groups. The wait was about 35 minutes. The hosts kept asking if we wanted to sit at the bar, I kept saying no, so that got a little annoying. Other than that, the place was okay. We got seated upstairs and outside. We had a table that kind of sat off on its own and a nice view of the sound. I ordered a gyro and coconut rice, the rice was delicious but the gyro was just like any other I've had. My other half wasn't thrilled about the burger he ordered. The feed was "meh" . Would I recommend to others? Sure, it was a decent place overall and prices were reasonable compared to other restaurants in town. This is where you want to be for a fun selection of good-tasting food. Tasty fish tacos, apps, and drinks. Something for everyone. I can't really get behind the pizza, though? It's like they forget to add the sauce or something and the dough is nothing to call home about either. I'd say it's more like flat cheesy breadsticks in pizza form. But you might like it. A lot of people ordered it. Very friendly service. They're closed on Tuesdays, and you're going to want to get there by ~1.5 hours before closing or they may not even seat you. We were so excited to come here. Our group of 7 were seated outside. Not to freak anyone out, but there was a very bold rat shuffling around near our table. We quietly moved inside as to not turn customers off. Our waiter was terrible. No way else to put it. We were still getting settled army our table ( the first one) , not everyone e was there and the waiter took my sons order and turned it into the kitchen. 6/26/20 We are back, but we have a different server this time. His name is Liam. Liam has been living in North Carolina for some time and was very happy to talk in his native language. I ordered the Philly Steak and cheese with blue cheese and bacon. The order did not come out correctly, but the problem was fixed quick enough. However, the shrimp ordered by my wife wasn't cooked properly and she had eaten one of the shrimp before discovering this problem. No apology was given when this problem was pointed out, but the situation was corrected. For his reason two has been removed from the five star rating. The best part of this visit Bryan Campbell's singing. Hearing the song Tupelo Honey by Van Morrison was a breath of fresh air. This music and the relaxing atmosphere gives this overall experience a four star rating now. Not sure when we will be back, but we may try this place one last time. read more

Went here for dinner about a week ago. The food was AMAZING. We ordered the Island Mac n' Cheese, Fried Chicken Salad, Fish Tacos, a couple of specialty pizzas, as well as my personal favorite, the Loaded Cheesy Chips, to name a few (the chips were a big hit amongst our table). Service was great as well, both waitress and bartender were always on top of things, and catered to our every need. Additionally, every Wednesday night they have live music on the 2nd floor deck, which was fantastic! Also a perfect place to watch the sunset! This is a review even though we never got to eat at Bernie's Brothers. Last night, I called the number at the bottom of their website. Somebody answered the phone "hi" ... I asked if this was Bernie brothers and their answer was "yeah". I told them we had a party of six and wanted to know if there was a wait at the moment because they didn't take reservations. He very rudely told me to come to the restaurant to find that out and hung up. Needless to say, we chose not to go to a restaurant that treats someone so rudely on the phone before they even arrive. We've come here multiple times for the past three years when visiting OBX. Great atmosphere and food. Everything we've tried had been great! The fish tacos are killer, as are the nachos. Liam is a great bartender who keeps people smiling and drinks flowing. This is the kind of place that makes you feel like you are really on vacation! Service was fast and accurate. Lovely to sit out on the patio with the afternoon breeze. Highly recommend both the jerk mahi tacos and the burger special (jerk sauce and salsa). Way better pricing than most other restaurants we have tried down here and very generous on portions. Cocktails were delightful. If I could give a 0 I would, went with a large group (19) on August 21 (they do not take reservations) was told 45 minute to hour, 2 1/2 hours later and several inquiries later we were still not seated even after them seating walk-ins at 2 large side by side tables that they could have used for our group. Very unorganized restaurant, all I can say is they lost a large amount of money with our group because we left and went to Sooeys BBQ which was very quick and delicious. Definitely would not recommend for large groups. Very disappointed. read more

The "special" drinks were horrible and they couldn't even make a mai tai. For a beach restaurant, they should probably rethink their entire business. read more

It had rained off and on all day. They couldn't use the deck area, which cut their available seats to half. We sat at the bar and had the most amazing service I've ever had in that situation. Drinks and food came in a timely manner. The bar staff was quick to offer refills, etc. And the food was very good. It's not fancy, but it's tasty, well presented, and filling. Me and about none of my friends decided to go here for a beach weekend and we were unpleasantly surprised. First of all we went for the live music on Saturday and there was not any live music. Second of all the chicken tacos made my friend throw up after- reason for this is not exactly clear but definitely a correlation. My friend and I ordered onion stranglers or some thing that they were called on the menu for 3.99 and we were greeted with a 4.99 charge on the receipt for onion rings. These onion whatever's were so then there were no way they could be rings. The food was very mediocre and way over priced for what it was. I enjoyed my ahi tuna bowl but I would much rather gone somewhere else. read more
