    Baja crispy mahi tacos
    Natasha H.

We showed up on a Sunday night with a bunch of people waiting outside so we braced ourselves for a long wait, but to our surprise my husband and I were seated promptly. The apps were pretty good, I'd definitely get the triple dip again. My tacos were yummy as well! Our server was on top of it, always making sure we had our drinks filled. It was a bit loud in there between all the patrons and the music a few notches too loud (to me). Also, having to swat the flies off our food was a little annoying when we're sitting inside and there are two different doors to get into the restaurant. So I'm not sure how they got in, but it would be nice if they put some traps to get them away from the food.

We were greeted by the hostess who was happy that we were there! (first impressions mean everything). The food was great, the service, and ambience were the same. I had Lean Kale quinoa salad with shrimp. It was perfect and just what I was hoping for. Our waiter was great too. I would definitely go back.

Very much your typical touristy spot, but open year round and has gluten free items clearly marked. Server was pretty knowledgeable and willing to ask about things she wasn't sure about. A bit overpriced for what it is, but overall a decent experience. Also, there are a couple steps to get into the main dining room, but the bar area and bathrooms are accessible.

Amazing atmosphere and great food selection. They are constantly adding new items to the menu. The waiter Chase is very friendly and responsive. I ordered the southern Philly cheesesteak and it was amazing

I recently visited Barefoot Bernie's for lunch when I was in the OBX area. I was pleasantly surprised by how good everything was. The vibe was relaxed and inviting. I ordered the fish tacos, which came with rice and beans on the side (or you can opt for tortilla chips), and honestly, the whole plate was a win. The tacos were packed with crispy, golden fish; perfectly fried without being greasy and topped with a fresh, flavorful slaw that added just the right tang and crunch. The slaw was a standout all on its own. Also ordered a piña colada which was flavorful and rich but overall, a little too sweet for my liking.

Service was amazing - the bartenders were super nice and helpful. I got the jerk mahi mahi and shrimp and WOW it was soooo good. The bartender helped me figure out if I'd like coconut rice with it (and it was a no) so she encouraged me to get the jasmine rice and I'm so glad she did. It ended up being perfect. 10/10

Been coming to outer banks for years but hasn't tried this until our recent trip and now it will definitely be a staple!! It was so good. Service was great and the food was delicious. I got the tuna - cooked perfectly and husband got the seafood nachos which were also delicious but the butter rum rice was heavenly!!

If you need a quick bite to eat after a long day at the beach Barefoot Bernie's is a great option. Service was quick and the servers were knowledgeable about gluten free options for two members of our group. All the entrees and sides were flavorful. I'd definitely consider coming back again in the future.

The Texas Beast Burger is one of the most insane burgers I have ever seen. It's an absolute unit of a sandwich fit for the Hossiest of Hosses. I mean, just look at my photos of it, it's as big as your head! My girlfriend's son has a bottomless pit of a stomach and even he couldn't finish it. Getting in here can be a chore, even in the off season the wait can be hours. To be honest, it's pretty bad. I wish they'd offer reservations with a fee that gets applied to your dinner, this would keep people from making them and not showing up. We waited about 60 minutes to get in (were told 90 minutes) after stopping by a couple days in a row and being told is was 3 hours! The parking lot isn't small but it doesn't have enough parking for the restaurant capacity so we were parked in the shopping center next door. They didn't tow us but who knows what would happen in the busy season. We were told there is an arcade in the back of the restaurant that you can wait in but we couldn't find it. We really wanted to eat here because of the Yelp reviews hence the multiple attempts to get here. For starters we got the bang-bang chicken. It was pretty good. Nothing to write home about. Crispy and flavorful. We also got some drinks. My girlfriend enjoyed a painkiller in a to-go cup that looked like a kids sippy cup. I got the 14 Day Oak Barrel Aged Old Fashioned and it was pretty decent. My girlfriend's dinner was the Brazilian steak carnival and I wish I had gotten it myself! I settle on a salad that I didn't even take a photo of. Other kid got the seafood gumbo and really enjoyed it. We skipped dessert and opted to get ice cream elsewhere. Overall it was a great meal. Would I wait an hour to get in here again? No. Would I eat here again if it were a 15 minute wait? Yes. It's good but not wait for hours good.

I got the hangover burger it was amazing and I definitely recommend the 2 Roads sauce for the burger and fries or onion rings it's some good stuff.. my wife ordered the Brie Me Burger which was also outstanding, perfect combo of Brie and balsamic glaze and their burgers are high quality as well! I went in on a VERY BUSY day and received top notch service right from the get go! The hostess was super polite and respectful despite being obviously extremely busy, we were asking about take out as we are local and sometimes just wanna eat at the house. She said no problem and took our order and said 10-15 minutes. No problem we took a seat at the bar and ordered a couple drinks, the bartender was doing an outstanding job, every single seat was full and he was the only bartender as they were understaffed yet he was doing a phenomenal job getting everyone served in a timely manner can't ask for more from your server.. food was out in just about 10 minutes and we were off.. got home and the order was perfect and delicious. We went out of the way to leave a nice tip because they most certainly deserved it, I felt like I couldn't have tipped enough that particular day as the entire staff up to and including the bar back were just making it happen!! Will definitely be back phenomenal place both service wise and value and taste..!

I woke up...and had a delicious time! The reviews here tell you how great this place is, and well...believe them! I thought for sure it would be over-hyped and not live up to what people write and say, but I will admit to being wrong. First, our server, Krickett, was agreed upon (by my partner and I) to be the best server we have ever had. She was friendly, outgoing, had good recommendations, and an all-around joy. Second, the food! Wow! My partner had a salad...simple enough, right? But no, she was amazed by it. And she is a vegetarian, so she has had a lot of salads over the years. This one blew her away. I had the grilled chicken sandwich. Was it life-changing? No. But it was way better than what a grilled chicken sandwich normally is. It was tender, juicy, with just the right seasoning. I would be a criminal if I didn't mention the bruschetta...get it with the burrata...it is worth it! The crispy bread with balsamic drizzle is good enough with the diced tomato mix, but the cheese gives it a new level. And, I hope you saved room for dessert, because the key lime pie was a mouth explosion.

The restaurant has two distinct dining areas: the front section is first-come first-served bar seating that offers the full menu. The back section, which would be ideal for families, holds about 30 tables, mostly booths, with the hostess stand. We chose to sit at the bar and had a great experience. We started with bruschetta topped with burrata cheese. I ordered the angel hair pasta in a white garlic butter, cream sauce with marinated chicken and grilled vegetables. My husband ordered the special hamburger with Swiss cheese bacon, spinach and mayo with a side of fries. We ended with slices of the key lime pie that didn't disappoint! The food, service, staff and environment were exceptional! We overheard the Server mention that veterans receive complementary meals on Veterans Day, which speaks volumes about how this restaurant supports those who have served. If you are in the Outer Banks- whether you're staying in Kill Devil Hills or nearby- this restaurant is worth the drive and all the hype!

Our service was great. But the food, sub par. Soft drinks were "odd" for lack of better word. So I returned it for a beer cause, why not. Sweet tea was so sweet that we had to dilute it with water. We can handle that. The food would have been great, had they used ANY SEASONING at all. Everything tasted as tho the kitchen lost all S&P privileges. I had the prime rib w/ au jus. Meat was tender and onions cooked nicely. But it definitely didn't match the description which was something like "on a hoagie bun topped with garlic and butter." It was not. Which would have really helped carry the no seasoning deal. Au jus, had great potential, just no flavor. I ended up eating the meat alone and left the bread. Wife got the Reuben. Which was overall ok. Much more flavor than mine. But only bc of the sauerkraut. Oldest daughter got the BYO burger, with cheese and pickle. The burger was clearly a frozen patty from the store. As clearly defined by the shape of the patty. She ate half and the other half sits in the fridge as I type, from 2 nights ago. (I usually eat all the leftovers) I leave this review in hopes that the management and kitchen staff will start to properly season their food. Arts has great potential. But not without seasoning!
