Wanted a Cuban sandwich that they have only for lunch. Lunch ends at 4:00p. We arrived at 3:30 had to wait 15mins. We ordered a mojito from the bar while waiting. Went up to give the hostess our menu we had which was their Lunch menu. And she responded with "oh we just switched over to dinner, do you want that menu?" and I said "it is 3:45 Dinner starts at 4:00. I expect to be able to order from the lunch menu" she replied with "No we are switching to dinner". Granted I haven't been seated but drinks where bought and now I can't enjoy my drink because I have to finish it quickly to leave. I told her to remove us from the waiting list that we were leaving. We are locals and We eat lunch there quite often do to this Cuban Sandwich my Husband craves. BUT NOT ANYMORE, they will not get another penny from my pocket. Not only was this inconsiderate, it was rude. And I get it I am not gonna be missed because you have the Vacationers that you rely on. This place is typically very reliable for good food. However, we tried the gyros tonight. My recommendation is to skip it. Very flavorless. Tzatziki sauce was lackluster. Meat wasn't the kind cut off a leg of lamb on a rotating spit. Fries were flavorless. Next time I'll go back to the lean-o-luscious Southwest salad with chicken. We showed up on a Sunday night with a bunch of people waiting outside so we braced ourselves for a long wait, but to our surprise my husband and I were seated promptly. The apps were pretty good, I'd definitely get the triple dip again. My tacos were yummy as well! Our server was on top of it, always making sure we had our drinks filled. It was a bit loud in there between all the patrons and the music a few notches too loud (to me). Also, having to swat the flies off our food was a little annoying when we're sitting inside and there are two different doors to get into the restaurant. So I'm not sure how they got in, but it would be nice if they put some traps to get them away from the food. read more

We got there around 4:30pm on Sunday and there was no wait time. We got seated quickly. Our server was very nice and attentive and she served with a smile. I ordered buffalo wings and bang bang shrimp which were average. They are not a traditional wing spot so if you're in the mood for good meaty, crispy hot wings this is not the place, but the flavor was ok. The bang bang shrimp we're small popcorn shrimp mostly bread but the flavor was good. Our daughter's ordered buffalo chicken pizza on white sauce and it was amazing!! They definitely know their pizza. It came out cheesey, and the crust was light and fluffy. Very good pizza so far. The environment has a beach feel to it and was pleasant. They have a bunch of TV's to see your favorite sports teams and plenty of seating overall. I'll go back and try something else. I ordered the fish tacos, which came with rice and beans on the side (or you can opt for tortilla chips), and honestly, the whole plate was a win. The tacos were packed with crispy, golden fish; perfectly fried without being greasy and topped with a fresh, flavorful slaw that added just the right tang and crunch. We had about a 25 minute wait on a Sunday night. We had shrimp, fish, & chicken entrées. All were delicious, as were the cocktails. Unfortunately, no one at the restaurant ordered the Texas Beast Burger while we were there. It is a monster burger served between two grilled cheese sandwiches. No, you can't finish the entire thing. Barefoot Bernie's is a decent sized spot in the outer banks. The inside was a bit dark, and cramped, but overall not the worst I've seen. My party of 8, was sat at what I'd say was too small of a table, where it appears they added folding chairs to accommodate us. I respect and appreciate the effort for sure, but as a man of a size, it was a tad cramped. I ordered the crab cake sandwich, which came with fries. Very good sandwich, seemed like mostly crab meat in the cake, not a whole ton of large chunks, but definitely didn't seem like it was mostly filler! That's always a win! Solid solid 8.5/10 sandwich. Everyone else in my party enjoyed their meals; the pad Thai was apparently outstanding and was raved about the remainder of the day. An unexpected gem it seems?! The Texas Beast Burger is one of the most insane burgers I have ever seen. It's an absolute unit of a sandwich fit for the Hossiest of Hosses. I mean, just look at my photos of it, it's as big as your head! My girlfriend's son has a bottomless pit of a stomach and even he couldn't finish it. Getting in here can be a chore, even in the off season the wait can be hours. To be honest, it's pretty bad. I wish they'd offer reservations with a fee that gets applied to your dinner, this would keep people from making them and not showing up. We waited about 60 minutes to get in (were told 90 minutes) after stopping by a couple days in a row and being told is was 3 hours! The parking lot isn't small but it doesn't have enough parking for the restaurant capacity so we were parked in the shopping center next door. They didn't tow us but who knows what would happen in the busy season. We were told there is an arcade in the back of the restaurant that you can wait in but we couldn't find it. We really wanted to eat here because of the Yelp reviews hence the multiple attempts to get here. For starters we got the bang-bang chicken. It was pretty good. Nothing to write home about. Crispy and flavorful. We also got some drinks. My girlfriend enjoyed a painkiller in a to-go cup that looked like a kids sippy cup. I got the 14 Day Oak Barrel Aged Old Fashioned and it was pretty decent. My girlfriend's dinner was the Brazilian steak carnival and I wish I had gotten it myself! I settle on a salad that I didn't even take a photo of. Other kid got the seafood gumbo and really enjoyed it. We skipped dessert and opted to get ice cream elsewhere. Overall it was a great meal. Would I wait an hour to get in here again? No. Would I eat here again if it were a 15 minute wait? Yes. It's good but not wait for hours good. read more

We tried one time but this special is extremely popular and we were too late in the evening and did not want to wait. This time we decided to take-out and went about 4:45pm. We decided that one dinner of a half chicken would be plenty for the two of us. We subbed an extra serving of mashed potatoes for our optional side, since we both wanted them and had other things for sides at home. The chicken was good, with nice seasonings. The breast was a little dry, but not bad. It would be nice to order all dark meat and maybe we could have. The mashed potatoes were delicious, and well-seasoned. I can see doing this again. Stopped in on taco Tuesday night and really glad I did. Got a seat at the bar and the bartender was awesome. She recommended the tacos and I got one of each. All of them were good but my favorite was the Ahi Tuna. The Carne Asada and the pork were a tie and the buffalo shrimp was good as well. The chicken taco was good but had a little too many beans for me but the flavors were still good. Overall the service, the atmosphere and the food were great. Day 2 brought us to this establishment. There was a bit of a wait but the process went smooth. They texted you when your table was ready, so we were able to chill in the car while we waited. They have their own parking lot and they was even jam packed, so a good sign. We went with the loaded nachos and chicken tenders to start with. The nachos were a meal in itself. Very good and very over the top. Chicken tenders were tasty but nothing special. The kid enjoyed them. For dinner, I got the Fish and Chips. Everything was very fresh with a beer better coating. My wife got the stir fry and the kid got the Philly Cheesesteak without the onions and the peppers. For dessert, I went with the Key Lime Pie and my wife and son shared an old favorite.... Alright this might be closer to a 3.5 and I usually round up but there were a few things.... First off our server was in-training. She was good and that is no way in reflection of the rating. The food is your typical chain restaurant food. Nothing was that great but it wasn't bad, but I most likely wouldn't come back. Food: The crab dip had no flavor. Could not taste the crab. Pita points were good that came with it. Shrimp & Grits- not the best. It was decent but would not order again. The coconut shrimp was the standout dishes the sauce that came with it was very good along with the rice. Subbed the coleslaw for the corn which was the veggie of the day and that was very good. The Painkiller drink was very weak. Overall a mediocre meal for $76 dollars. Also it was super hot in the restaurant. I get it's summer but it was warm! read more

Wow this place hit the spot! Just for some context, my wife and I made it to Kitty Hawk, NC after a 13 hour drive from the Indianapolis metro area. So we were hungry and needed a beer or two. Barefoot Bernie's delivered. We knew it was good when we saw a line out the door, but thankfully there were two open spots at the bar (which is typically how we roll). The bartenders were really nice and attentive. So finally we got a couple beers. I ordered a Red Oak lager brewed out of Charlotte, so good. Now on to food, we ordered the seafood gumbo and pub style fish n' chips. The gumbo was excellent and surprisingly rich toward the end. The fish n' chips was a little extra, it was served with waffle fries, coleslaw and a tangy mayonnaise dipping sauce. By the time we finished our food and yes, we ate all of it, we headed back to the beach to let it digest. Definitely check out Barefoot Bernie's if you come visit the outer banks North Carolina. OMG, so delicious! We got the seafood gumbo and fish and chips. Let me tell you, both are the best dishes ever. The gumbo was really good, but be prepared--it's very rich. The fish and chips were perfectly crispy and oh so yummy. The mayo sauce was sooo good, and the slaw was delicious too. Let's just say, we finished both dishes easily. Good food! Interesting take on a Cuban sandwich--the Cuban Q, a Cuban sandwich with barbecue!

Table of 8 and was told 45 minutes. 15 minutes later we were seated. Got the best waitress that got our drinks asap. We ordered and maybe waited 20-30 minutes and the food came out.
