Berry Roofing wasn't the cheapest estimate we got and it was far from the most expensive. But the service we received was nothing short of world class. When the representative came out for the estimate he had a case full of roofing materials. Being really knowledgeable about construction I thought "oh boy" But when he was going over the estimate I was THOROUGHLY IMPRESSED by his explanation of the materials he brought and I agreed to. We agreed on a fair price and his team came out on time the day they said and finished in the timeframe we agreed on. The crew that did the work was very polite and professional.. Avoid this terrible company. Terrible experience. They gave me one price for roof removal and I told them that there were multiple layers and they said no it's okay you only will be charged this price then raise it an extra 3000 after they rip off half the roof knowing I have no choice. They also said they do not hire other companies they do all of the work from start to finish but the company that did the demo was not Berry roofing. When I called them they said they guy that told me all of these lies no longer works for the company. They also put a hole in the ceiling of the house. And they were supposed to change fascia boards I called them and told them it was not done he pretty much said your lying send me a picture. If you want a strange sales pitch and for someone to give you a quote on work they want to do NOT what the owner wants to do call these clowns immediatley. They litterally pulled out a table and chairs and wanted to show me videos about there company. They were aware i was in a zoom meeting and listening while muted and still insisted on me wasting my time on work i dont want done. The sales mans side kick didnt say anything the whole 1h they were here until i kept telling the sales men this is not neccisary i am busy can you just tell me the number for the quote. I picked Berry Roofing in 2012 over other roofers because of their price, not that it was that much lower. That was years before I knew about Yelp or other reviews. I live in Scottsdale AZ, but I have owned 10 multifamily rental units in Moreno Valley since 1986, 9 little 1 and 2 BR houses on adjoining lots with carports. The roofs were really bad, like smashed corn flakes. Their office lady gave me several addresses along the route I was coming to my property, up the I-10, 60, and 91 fwys where they had done the roofs. I recall visiting one home owner who told me when the city inspector came to inspect the roof, he was marveling how straight the line was, said it was the straightest line he ever saw, said the owner. Berry Roofing had the best price, but when they started the job, the City of Moreno Valley inspector made them move all the 4" slats closer together, so the nails do not go into the spaces between the slats. So I had to pay for the labor to move them together. After they did, the City Inspector said it wasn't good enough, and then made Berry Roofing put plywood on top of the 4" slats, when he coulda demanded that they do that before moving them together. I had to sign about 16 change orders. Another contractor told me roofers get you to hire them over their competitors by quoting the cheapest price, but later the price you pay ends up to be much more because they keep having you sign change orders, that jack up the price. In the end, I ended up paying about 1/3 MORE in price. I don't think that Berry Roofing did this deliberately. We just got a picky and anal inspector who liked making people "obey his commands". Cos when I asked the job supervisor why he didn't go to the City to complain about that anal inspector, they said they did, but he inspector's supervisor backed up the inspector (which a good supervisor should do, I know how it is cos I was a city employee and our boss did not back us up when people complained, she caved into the wants of the "taxpayer", and made us look bad). Anyhow fast forward to 2020. I had Berry Roofing go out and inspect the roofs again. Geoff Coates, who has been with Berry Roofing for years, and was there on my job in 2012, quoted me MORE THAN DOUBLE other roofing contractors to reroof some of the houses. When I told Geoff that his quote was more than double the price that other contractors gave me, he said their company learned from doing my job in 2012, to include the plywood, because in the end, that is what the City of Moreno Valley is gonna make them do. He said the City won't accept shingles nailed on the 4" slats, so the price of the plywood to cover the slats was included in the 2020 bid. Geoff said the other contractors who bid half their price, will make up for it in change orders. But this 4 star review is about my experience as absentee owner living in AZ, having most of my unit's reroofed in 2012 by Berry Roofing. Berry Roofing would have gotten 5 stars, if they did this one thing, which I don't find out till many years later (2020), that they could have done things better. That is to put roll roofing over the porch overhang and extend the roll roofing further up the pitch of the roof, instead of using all shingles that they put on the porch overhang. Because the overhang is flat, it allowed the water to make it's way under the roofing shingles, and rot the plywood under the shingles in the porch overhang. Overhangs on the roofs they did have water damage and are caving in. If Berry had used roll roofing, the water would not go under the shingles to rot the plywood because the porch overhang is flatter. Another roofer told me about using roll roofing instead of shingles on the flatter porch overhangs, when I sent them to give me bid for repairing the rotten overhangs caving in, on several units. I would like Berry Roofing to answer this issue, if they read this, and what is their reason for not using roll roofing on the overhang areas. read more

The salesman was prepared, accurate, answered all my questions and even came back twice because I added additional gutter. They repaired the leaky roof and installed the gutters in 2 days. Their work was tested the next day when it rained. No further roof leak and all gutters worked perfectly with no leaks too. Overall rating 2.5 Stars: Spoke to owner, Ron Berry, directly to get my contract revised to a 5 year warranty and had it be repaired prior to rainfall. Prior to repairs, Ron called me again to clarify that the $450 were for broken/chipped tiles from fumigation (invoice stated around 20 tiles) and that the leak repairs were being done for no charge. $450 is around average for larger companies and found less expensive quotes. But since the guy was going to be on the roof anyways, I agreed to the $450. The repairman stated that the leak was due to flashing (as I had suspected) and added new metal. Unfortunately, I was out of town during the last rainfall and am unable to confirm the repairs. After it was all said and done, got another call with Ron stating that he would waive the $450 for my troubles. My main issue is if I hadn't called in to complain, then this would have never been brought to the owner's attention. And then I would've been out almost double out-of-pocket. Not a fan of their estimator Geoff. Both times that he came out, he didn't provide a resolution or plan of action but only invoices that weren't very descriptive. My only peace of mind was when I spoke to Ron stating that they'd do everything they'd have/need to in order to fix the leak. read more

I "interviewed" several companies and by far my initial inspection review and introduction to the company was by far the best. My short, professional visit on the phone resulted in an appointment within a week. The estimate was initiated by Jeff and the actual repair was performed by Bob. First of all Bob arrived 20 minutes ahead of schedule. ( Seriously, a roofer that not only shows on the right day but, 20 min early) He surveyed the repair, explained the process and procedure and immediately started the repair. He had everything on the truck. No running to Home Depot or the roofing supply he had everything. In 93 degree weather he completed the repair and even took pictures to show me. We had to replace a couple of fascias and some broken tiles on our roof. The project manager, Ernie Bertolone went on to the roof, and created a video with all the changes we needed to do. That helped to see all the damage, which we were otherwise unaware of. Our house is more than 25 years old, and he suggested to add a couple of valley cuts to improve drainage on the roof, and to do some other required maintenance sealings and cleanings. The work was done by Luis and Javier, both were very professional and completed the work timely. The team gave daily updates on the repairs and attached pictures for verification. While the work was on progress, a new section of fascia seemed to be problematic, which they fixed and adjusted the price. We had a leak in our house this past year. We called Berry Roofing and got an immediate response from Terri. She was personable and really understanding. She was able to schedule Eddie out within a week to give us our estimate. He was on time and friendly. He examined our roof and was able to tell us what the problem was right away. Eddie didn't try and upsell but gave us many options in varying price ranges on how we could fix the roof. We could repair just the portion that was causing the leak or do a simple repair or full redo of the roof. He explained all options thoroughly and we felt comfortable using them knowing they were honest didn't try and over sell what needed to be done. Both the men showed up in COVID-19 attire masks. Which was really appreciated during this coronavirus season. I was so pleased to learn that the owner, was accompanying the consultant that came to evaluate the job on my roof. The job was agreed-upon during that week and Berry roofing workers came in and did an outstanding job from the pictures that they shared with Me. My hm also had a medium sized leak spot from the rain. It was upon the inside ceiling which looks so terrible on white ceiling. Berry crew Man painted it but afterwards the stain showed through. I let the company know n the crew Man came bk the next day prime & painted the spot(eye sore) it's been perfect ever since.
