    Acai bowl
    Michael W.

What a fantastic experience! I was craving something new and happened to be near Washington University, so I looked up this place. It's connected to a gym, which convinced me I had to try it because it seems to have everything. I ordered the acai bowl, and I must say, they had a great selection of fresh fruit and a variety of menu options. The cashier was extremely helpful in guiding me through the different bases they offered, but she was okay. The place had a lively sports-café vibe. The bowl was a total hit--I devoured it so quickly because it was just so fresh and delicious.

A great spot for a fruity, refreshing bite or drink in Clayton! It's basically located in the lobby of a fitness studio, but there was a nice amount of seating inside and out. I was super impressed with the service. A big group of us went after finishing a workout class, but they cranked through our orders super quickly. I barely had to wait for my bowl. I got an açaí bowl that had a generous portion of banana, strawberry, and peanut butter. It tasted great and they didn't skimp on the toppings.

Super cute and friendly crew. I created my own bowl and I have to say it was pretty good!! I'll be back!

Oh my goodness I loved BerryBox's acai bowls!!! Yes, they're pricey, but you have to expect that for acai bowls anyways. THe granola was great, I loved that you could get multiple bases (they were all so beautiful, colorful, and tasty), all the fruit was fresh, and adding peanut butter and cocoa nibs just took it over the top for me. I will definitely be getting this again, especially since they came in totally perfect condition even after being delivered to me and my boyfriend!

Very good, but way overpriced. Portions are small. Not a ton of variety. If I'm in the area I might stop in, but wouldn't make a special trip. We ordered two avocado toast and two smoothies and our bill was a little over $50. Yikes.

Smoothie bowls are extremely good. Fresh and thick. I love that they have many options to choose from which makes the build your own bowl that much more amazing. Service is fast too!

I had a great experience at Berry box! I went in for a smoothie bowl and was kind of in a rush so I wasn't expecting anything- but the workers there were SO sweet! I went in with my boyfriend and they were very patient with us as we looked at the menu, there were also super informative about every topping. Additionally they made us both some of the best smoothie bowls we've ever had. The shop was clean and at a cute location and everything was delicious! I will be stopping here again

I had a great açaí bowl from Berry Box. I ordered the BerryBox bowl that had an acai base topped with granola, banana, blueberry, and strawberries. The fruit was all very fresh and I loved the honey drizzle on top to give it an extra sweet taste. The store is attached to a gym which is nice if you need a healthy snack after a workout. It's clean with some seating outside in addition to inside. I was able to park in a parking lot nearby which made it an easy pickup.

I was super excited to finally try Berry Box! They are conveniently located inside of my gym (also in the Foundry). I stopped by for a coffee after my workout and I'm glad I jumped in line before the post-class rush. I ordered the Berry Box late which had blue spirulina and blueberry syrup. I ordered oat milk and was surprised it was an $1 upgrade I haven't seen that in awhile. The girl who rang me up also left my cup on the counter a long time too while helping and serving other customers behind me. When she got to making mine it was worth the wait! For a healthy coffee with add ins it didn't taste chalky which I definitely appreciate. And I love the mantras on the cups. They are still really new and working out some kinks so I'm sure I'll be updating this review really soon.

It's located on a busy street in Clayton, so people watching is available. Being used to ordering at Starbucks, I was uncertain how to approach this, so I told the employee I was trying to adjust and he was so kind and helpful. I went with a Hot Macchiato with Caramel and Mocha, 2% Milk and a small Chicken Empanada. They were a bit backed up, so the wait was a little longer than I expected, but the drink was very good. I didn't even have to specify how many pumps of what to put in there, they just did it and it was perfect. The right temperature, I didn't have to wait to drink it. The empanada was piping hot, so I had to let it cool and unfortunately couldn't try it before my appt. Next time tho.

This one did, so I walked over from the restaurant where we were after lunch. This is a very pleasant shop with lots of available seating. It just has a rather modern look, and it was very nice and clean. I came up to talk to a friendly barista. The pour over menu was a bit confusing because there wasn't a lot of information directly on the menu, I asked about one pour over because I had never tried a bean of that origin before. She had good things to say about it, but she said that, if I wanted something fruity or floral to try Haro Wachu from Ethiopia. It was as if she read my mind because I had been wanting to try a natural processed Ethiopian. I'm really glad I took her suggestion! It was one of the best cups of coffee I've ever tried. I didn't taste so much of a note of fruit in it, but I still loved it! I made sure to make a note of what it was in case I have room for more beans at home and want to order it. So, I do wish it was easier to tell what each pour over was in the menu (They have a lot at reasonable prices!). However, I left there thoroughly impressed with the coffee. If you are out on Delmar Loop, they are definitely worth visiting.

Some place where I could print off copies of my zine about protecting the environment by committing minor acts of terrorism in America's forests? Turns out, it's a place where you can listen to truly random vinyl records while eating burritos entirely too good to be available in Clayton. Nothing about the latter says this part of town except for the price, which is almost like someone's cruel idea of a joke. I'd suggest that they're the best breakfast burritos available anywhere in the area, but what do I know? I've been eating breakfast burritos since the Reagan administration, when they were invented (as far as I know), but mostly of the microwavable variety. They have the potential to be the best food possible, because they combine the two other best foods, breakfast sandwiches and Mexican food, but no one seems to put any real effort into them. They're less likely than their lunch/dinner counterpart to cause gastrointestinal distress. People suspect that the reason Chipotle gives you the runs roughly every third time you visit is because of the cilantro, which is impossible to wash, but I heard it's really the lettuce. Never get lettuce on a burrito from Chipotle. If you're getting one of those bowls, why are you even going to Chipotle? You're probably already fat, and not eating a tortilla is not going to make a difference. But I digress. Upshot is primarily a coffee shop, and I think it's generally well regarded as far as that's concerned, though I'm no expert. I drink a nice, stiff six cups or so of whatever's on sale first thing in the morning and it usually ends up being the highlight of my day. I don't need any coffee in addition to that. I might get nervous. I've had luck lately with the seasonal selections at other local coffee shops that I've visited, so I figured I'd take my chances with an iced strawberry matcha latte. It seemed like it would be nice and refreshing after getting in a few miles with the homies, and damn it if it didn't hit the spot. You could see the actual seeds in it from where they must have crushed up an actual strawberry to make it, thus justifying the price, at least as far as they're concerned. They spared no expense with the burrito either. It's filled with surprisingly large chunks of bacon and avocado. Can they afford to give you more bacon because they don't cook it to the point where it starts to shrink? I like it when it's still kinda chewy, but I'm sure many would beg to differ. That must be how bacon is served in Clayton. They don't have the lovable old James bring it out to you, but I can understand, with this being 2026. It's not the lengthiest tortilla in the world, but it's stuffed to nearly overflowing with eggs, cheese, potatoes and what have you. I'd suggest bringing a date just to see if she could wrap her lips around it, but who's got that kind of money? It would have to be someone you've already been out with a few times, who's with the program, so to speak.
