    Kale comeback
    Una M.

It was ok. I got the kale comeback after reading a few reviews. The taste of the romano cheese was over powering, I actually like the taste of kale. The kale was sort of wilted by the dressing. The salad needs some kind of crunchy texture to make it good, it mentions crunchy corn on the menu but I didn't get anything like that on mine.

First time at revel bowls and was expecting something similar to a cava or chipotle or other fast casual places! Was told that when you get the small bowl you only get one thing from each category so instead of going thru and figuring out which one thing I wanted I ordered one of the pre-set bowls. I got the prime time bowl and it's so incredibly drenched, it needed some sort of rice base to soak up everything from the mushrooms, beef and sauce. Wasn't bad, just really wasn't what I was expecting...fast service though!

Revel is the best fast casual restaurant for a healthy meal! The food is so flavorful, the staff is super helpful, and for people with allergies - every ingredient is listed. I love their Don't Kale It A Comeback salad and BYO bowls!

Revel Kitchen is an affordable health forward bowl and smoothie spot! There's one in Brentwood and Kirkwood. Appreciate the commitment to quality and organic ingredients. They cater to so many different diets including paleo, gluten-free, organic, vegetarian, and vegan. The owners, Simon and Angelica Lusky, initially didn't plan to open a health food spot but found success with their side business of preparing nutritious meals for athletes. It might be busy and packed but they are fast! Keep going!

I've gotten takeout here twice and every time, the bowls are PACKED to the brim full of real, actual food. This is healthy food: you get the ingredients you order, no more no less. They have had a deal with 2 for 1 large bowls and if they keep this up I might just keep ordering from here multiple times a week. The chicken is wonderful, the veggies are plentiful, the tofu is not crispy but it is seasoned, and the sauces are all really wholesome and flavorful! BYO bowls are the way to go, and honestly, I don't really think you can go wrong.

Revel Kitchen always keeps it real! We've been on a health and fitness journey this summer, and Revel has made it really easy to eat clean and local, especially on the weekends! If customization is your jam, you can build your own bowl with Revel's selection of bases, proteins, veggies, and sauces. We usually go the bowl route, but last time we switched it up and tried the Don't Kale It a Come Back Wrap and the Mango Matcha Smoothie--a filling duo, jam-packed with flavor! Fuel up at their Brentwood or Kirkwood location today!

I've seen Revel Kitchen in Brentwood/Richmond Heights but never stopped by. The newest location just opened in Maplewood though and I was excited to give it a try. The building was previously a Jack In The Box so there is a convenient drive thru if you're in a hurry. I love the outdoor seating, even though it's on busy Manchester Road, it's a nice option when it's a beautiful day. You place your order at the counter and they bring the food to your table when it's ready. Neither my husband nor I had ate at Revel Kitchen before so we didn't even know where to start. For the bowls, it's all build your own. When trying a newer restaurant it's nice to have options that are already the "tried and true" so we had to make our best guesses and hope it all tasted good together! The salads and wraps have several options on the menu or you can build your own. My husband ordered a bowl with quinoa, sweet potatoes, tofu, peanut miso, and pickled onion. I ordered brown rice, sautéed mushrooms, chicken, peanut miso, and pickled onion. I also added sriracha on top :) Both of us enjoyed our bowls and would get them again. We agreed the price was great for the amount of food we got too. Overall it wasn't knock your socks off amazing but we will come back.

I would've preferred it sweeter, but that's more of a personal preference. The biggest disappointment was that the sandwich didn't sit well with my stomach afterward. Overall, I was very disappointed with the food despite the great service. Again the customer service was great the food not so much. I regret ordering what I did and so did my stomach. I need to just try the smoothie and no food.

I noticed they had more than smoothies, and my eyes immediately went to the juice case. They have quite the selection of pressed juices, shots, protein balls, and other things. After scanning the menu, I got the peanut butter and banana toast, nirvana pressed juice, and birthday cake protein balls. She asked if I was a member of Orange Theory and I said, "no." They have a special partnership with them that I think includes a certain percentage off, so maybe I should become a member! I drank the juice first and tried one of the protein balls while I was waiting on my toast. The juice was refreshing and on the sweeter side, which is what I wanted. The protein ball was good, but the after taste was a little odd. Perhaps it was the flavor? It was recommended by person working. Although I'm not writing it off entirely, I may have better luck with the other flavors (cookie dough, peanut butter, snickerdoodle, and red velvet). It didn't take long before my toast was ready and I was on my way. I managed to sneak a few bites in before I made it home and they more than exceeded my expectations. For the record, any place that uses Union Loafers bread can do no wrong in my book. The toast was quite savory and I def enjoyed it more with each bite. After you deal with the parking, which can be a bit inconvenient as it's in a crowded intersection and parking lot - though I noticed neon banana has a few dedicated parking spots for 5 minute parking which helps! - you find the cute little locally-owned shop amongst the strip mall. What I first noticed & loved was the vibe and concept of the shop! The literal bananas around are fun & def has a mildly-funky-but-still-upscale vibe. I knew to expect juices and smoothies but was pleasantly surprised to find a few other food items like bread, broth, protein balls, overnight oats, and more. I tend to be basic with my tastes so I was hesitant to try some of their smoothies with elaborate ingredients. I chatted with the friendly cashier/smoothie extraordinaire & I said I was leaning towards the regular strawberry but wanted to try something a little out of my comfort zone, but not too far out. She recommended the neon banana (COCONUT WATER, ORANGE JUICE, BANANA, PINEAPPLE, MANGO, BLUE MAJIK (BLUE SPIRULINA/COCONUT WATER). I'm so glad I tried - it's delicious! They're also willing to customize. When I mentioned I don't love coconut, she said she could take out the coconut water. The blue spirulina wasn't my fave but the flavor & the rest of the smoothie was amaze, would def get again. The cons: It is pricey, this particular 16oz smoothie being $10.95. Also, the hours are somewhat limited, closing most days at 4:30. However - I don't know of too many locally owned smoothie cafes so I think the juice is worth the squeeze on this one ;) I could see myself coming back for a late morning or early afternoon snack, for sure getting the neon banana again or trying some of the other flavors. I'd probably avoid busy times of day like lunch or commute times. It would probably be a once in awhile splurge place, but would love to make it back again!

They might want to consider branching out into that field, in case someone pulls up wanting to purchase a ficus or whatever, so that they don't have to turn anyone away. It could help boost revenue, so that they're not having to constantly raise prices, like at McDonald's. There's a list of things this place carries on the building's facade, suggesting to me that this is a known issue. It's also announced that all are welcome, which came as a relief to me, since I'm never quite sure. I wonder if there was an incident, or if there's another place nearby that's known to turn people away. There's a nice little area where you can sit at some picnic tables set up in the parking lot, like you're on a smoking break at your old warehouse job, but the air was weirdly swampy, possibly due to "corn sweats," and we'd just gone on a run, so we decided to eat inside. We were all gross and sweaty. I hope no one minded. Their policy of not turning anyone away may have worked out in our favor. The group that I'm in is on a sort of breakfast burrito tour, so I already knew what I was going to get, though I was curious about several menu items featuring weird-looking boiled eggs, that I saw photos of here on Yelp. What in the world? They look like they were thought up by an eccentric gentleman of a certain age who still collects VHS tapes, for personal reasons. You could imagine Gene Hackman's character in the movie The Conversation eating such a sandwich. I briefly toyed with the idea of ordering one of those sandwiches, for the lulz, and now I kinda wish that I did. I prefer a breakfast sandwich to a breakfast burrito anyway, and the breakfast burrito here is just okay. It's neither very bad nor very good. I liked the sheer size of it and the simplicity of it. There's only a small handful of ingredients: eggs; your choice of bacon or some non-meat option (so just bacon); some sort of melty cheese, possibly cheddar; roasted red peppers and that might be it. I don't know that the peppers added much. I'd sub them out for something more interesting, like a salsa, a sour cream or a guacamole, maybe something with more of a temperature or textural contrast. The egg was weirdly rectangular and artificial-seeming, like maybe they're frozen pucks that they just microwave. I got an iced Coconut Latte, a seasonal item, and I'm not sure what was going on with that. It was good, but it didn't taste anything like coconut, to the point where I'm not sure if they gave me the right drink. The girl who took my order may not have heard what I said. People who work the register in these places get nervous when a big group walks in, like they're not going to be able to take everyone's order in time and, as a result, they're going to get let go--which would violate the terms of their parole. I can sympathize with their plight. I would never intentionally cause someone to get locked up just because they gave me the wrong drink.
