Recently I tried the vegan burger and was pleasantly surprised with the flavor. It is a vegetable patty rather than a meat-imitation patty, which I prefer anyway. I would order this item again! I upgraded my fries to curly fries, and I kinda felt like the portion of fries was smaller than I am used to, but they were decent. Burger fixings (lettuce, pickles, condiments, etc.) are self serve. Also a major highlight of eating here is getting to see and interact with their cats! :)

My wife, her mom, and I, all like burgers so figured this would be a good place to stop. Our cellular service did not work here, so had to use the info I had downloaded in Google maps to know where to stop. It ended up being pretty good. Hours are daily 11:00 - 20:00, so we arrived just after it opened and were the first ones. There is two areas for outdoor dining: a large set of picnic tables near the chimney tree as well as a patio at the restaurant itself. We soon realized that a cat was roaming the patio, looking for food, so we decided to eat inside, instead. It's a one man operation, with the owner fulfilling multiple roles. After we orders and paid, we got a pager to notify us once the order was ready. Everything is prepared fresh, so it took a bit of time. But because it was served hot, everything tasted good. I love a lot of toppings on my burger, so the self-serve topping bar was great...was able to put as much lettuce and pickles as I wanted. The 1/3 hamburger ($12.99) came with good fries . My wife got her plain cheeseburger 1/4 cheeseburger ($9.99) and enjoyed it. Her mom got chicken strips basket ($13.99), and upgraded her fries to be curly. We all shared each others fries, and the curly fries were really good. Drinks are cans. I didn't want to risk having a milk shake, but from all indications, it sounded good. We ate our meal at the counter. Afterwards, the owner suggested we walk across the parking lot to visit the Living Chimney Tree. It's free to enter, and is hollow enough for a person or two fit in. There are openings on both sides, so easy to take some nice pictures.

I've been a regular here for months, and it's become my go-to for quick, satisfying fast food without the hassle. The standout star is Molique, the cashier who's always behind the counter with a beaming smile and infectious cheer. No matter how busy it gets, he's friendly, chats you up like an old pal, and makes the whole experience feel welcoming. I make it a point to swing by just to talk to him--his positive vibe is contagious and turns a simple order into a highlight of the day. Service is lightning-fast; I've never waited more than five minutes, even during peak lunch rushes. The food? Classic BK staples done right--the flame-grilled Whopper is juicy and flavorful, fries are hot and crispy, and their breakfast sandwiches hit the spot on early drives. Portions are generous, and prices are fair for the quality. A big plus: They participate in California's Restaurant Meals Program, so if you're on EBT, you can use it here seamlessly--just verify eligibility first. The dining area is clean, with ample seating and quick Wi-Fi. If you're passing through Fortuna, skip the lines elsewhere; this spot delivers value, speed, and genuine hospitality. Highly recommend--five stars!
