We wound up in Fortuna on a random whim yesterday and stopped into Taco Loco to give it a try. It was a very welcoming atmosphere with a pretty large dining area. The employees were inviting and friendly. They have a wide selection of food. We ordered three tacos, two drinks and one super burrito. Everything tasted great and authentic. We were visiting Fortuna for a few days to attend a wedding. Happened upon taco Loco! The place looked empty, but we were hungry. Seated, we realized lots of to go orders were being picked up. My husband had the street tacos with Carne Asada. I had an à la cart Chile rellano. Lupe could tell we were from out of town. She took excellent care of us. The food arrived quickly. I have to say it was possibly the best chili rellano I ever had. My husband enjoyed the street tacos, rice and beans. Excellent service and excellent food! read more

I have been going to Taco Loco for years when I am in town visiting and only have amazing things to say about this place so I will share some of the things I love about this place. For starters,this is a family owned business and the owners, Lupe and Jose, do an exceptional job! I always try to support local owned businesses whenever I can. I love knowing that I am supporting a small family owned restaurant in the community every time I eat here. In addition, the food is made with fresh ingredients and it always tastes delicious! I also love that the service is excellent. There are always a good flow of people coming in and out of this restaurant, some dining in and some picking up orders to go. The food is priced well for how good it is and that is probably why you see so many people coming here. I am amazed by how many people and orders they have how it all runs so smooth and seamless. My food is always made quickly and the service is excellent. There is a decent size dine in area if you are looking to sit down and have a meal or you can get it to go. This place is awesome! Most of the time you get the best meal ever. The prices are average! I think if you go to restaurants a lot you'll know that it's not always the same because there's different chefs on different days. So my advice is , when you find something you like.. find out who the chef is and call ahead of time.. you can see if Chef working so you can get your best possible experience! Mexicana and SoCal native. Some of the most delicious Mexican food I have found in Humboldt County. Light and fresh and delicious. The staff was delightful. The drink selection is pretty large. Fountain and canned and bottled. Fresh Agua Frescas. All the sauces had flavor and some heat that was just perfect. Not too spicy. I will be back. I cannot wait to try more dishes. While back home vacationing in CA from SC we stopped by Taco Loco . Although $1 extra they have hands down the best homemade corn tortillas . The Al Pastor is amazing , the hot salsa is not hot but has some top notch flavor . Chips and salsa are average All in all a great place for some killer tacos read more

Good service and the food is pretty good depending on what you get. I prefer their chimichangas. HOWEVER, they use styrofoam to-go containers. This is very environmentally unfriendly and should be banned in California (Will be soon) I would rate this business higher if they were more conscientious about the impact of this destructive material. On a long trip down Hwy 101, the kids were demanding burritos. Civil unrest was imminent. We stopped at Taco Loco in Fortuna after accidentally passing all the affordable taquerias in Eureka. The ambience was casual and comfortable--the kind of place where nobody gets too unruffled when your boisterous family of six tumbles in. We were greeted warmly by the staff at the counter. The menu is fairly straightforward, so ordering was a breeze. We were invited to choose our seats, and offered enough baskets of chips and salsa to keep the edge off everyone's hunger. The burritos were tasty and well-sized. I would have liked my "hot" sauce to be a little hotter, but on the other hand there were no complaints from the kids that the food was too spicy. While I was *just* on the wrong side of full after finishing my burrito, the kids all finished with leftovers still on their plates, which Dada quickly demolished--once again his strategy of not ordering an entree and finishing what the kids couldn't paid off. Since each burrito was about $7 or $8, we thought this was a great value. The thing I appreciated the most was the family atmosphere. The lady at the counter was so kind while the kids were ordering, and was genuinely warm and welcoming. As we finished up, she came over to chat and coo at the baby.
